  1. Why didn't they just hold onto Gabe Gross then?
  2. Or what if it is the case of the Cubs doing their due diligence? Or what if the Cubs trying to make people look at their left hand (SA at the Blue Jay game) while the right hand (Hendry/Cubs) are looking at a totally different player? Or what if there is nothing to this SA going to the Blue Jays game.
  3. You act as if the Phillies have enough to even get the Rockies to the table, much less acquire Holliday. The Phillies just traded their 2/4th best prospects for an innings eater, and this while their system was't exactly overflowing with premium talent. So, you can rest easy, Holliday won't be going to Philadelphia. I was only speaking in hypotheticals. You know, like, "How good would the Cubs be with Josh Hamilton?" Oh, ok................
  4. Add him to the poll, dammit. http://youtube.com/watch?v=6QPGqqLYSjg No  .........Hamil's Joker is too similar to his Goblin (either Green or Hob) character from the Spider Man cartoon series from the 90s.

  6. Which means the Cubs will win those games.
  7. I can't believe I am going to say this but, I don't want Derrek Lee up to plate with the game on the line. Cause like tonight, he'll find a way to hit into a DP. Lou/Perry and Lee needs to rework Lee swing to get some left, cause he's basically a singles/doubles hitter, and the money he's making and spot in the lineup he's hitting, he has to hit for power.
  8. Sorry Rich Harden, you have to go go perfect in 9 innings, if you want a chance to win.
  9. Why do you say that? Isn't Ned Yost still their manager? He'll have them 5 games back of the Cubs come August.
  10. I doubt the BJ will trade Matt Stairs, but if they are willing, I wouldn't mind another productive Canadian clown on the Cubs. With that said, what about replacing Henry Blanco with Gregg Zaun? Zaun's numbers are definately better then Blanco, and would give the Cubs a decent switch-hitting catcher off the bench,
  11. Everybody knows the Cards are going to sweep the Brewers, because logic says they can't.
  12. I much rather Soriano get a game or two in the minors before being activated. I want Soriano back at 100%, not 85%. If Fonzie's at 85 I want him back. What I don't want is the utter disaster that he was when he came back in early May from his first injury. If Sori hits a homer or gets a couple hits in Mesa then you mine-as-well call him up because he is going to perform any better than that with an extra game or two. You have to be careful about making that suggestion. Just because he goes 2-3 against 1st or 2nd yr minor leaguers, doesn't mean he's ready to rejoin the club, nor does going 0-3 with 3 k's mean he isn't ready to come back. It will come down to Soriano and how he is feeling. I'm hoping he'll be honest with Lou. If he truly believes he's ready to come back, then so be it, but if he is rushing back because of the struggles of the team, then this is where the Cubs need to protect Alf from himself.

  14. This is all I know: Cubs best team in the NL, and prolly TOP 2/3 in all of baseball. Brewers is a Top 5 NL team this yr, and should win the Wild Card. Cards are like the Bad News Bears.
  15. This was an encouraging thought in May. By late July, it's just worrisome. Not if you believe your team is the best team in the division. Teams like the Cards don't last long. Eventually they will sink, the Cubs just need to stay above the Cards.
  16. The way I look at it is this....if the Cubs take of business, then let the Cards worry about catching us, instead of the Cubs worrying about putting distance between them and the Cards/Brewers. I know it sucks, that the Cards have what, 3 legit Major Leaguers on that roster and they are 10 games over .500. Just remember the Cubs ARE the better team and once Soriano get healthy, we will run away with the division.
  17. With a grand slam, no less.
  18. Combine them and you might get something serviceable. SERVICEABLE? Yeah, but still not a lineup that would score alot of runs.
  19. Agreed. I liked the anarchy/anti-christ version of the Joker played by Heath, better then the typically mobster gone even crazier? Heath's Joker had a more dangerous feel to him, then Jack's Joker.
  20. this is his forte What's a rookie RB have to do with a conversation about which Cardinals is luckier?
  21. Ned Yost is the reason why the Cubs are going to win the division. What's next, their going to platoon CC Sabathia and Corey IN RF, because CC is a better hitter?
  22. Yup. That sound you hear is the bottom falling out. Seriously? It's TWO games. Two games that are continuing some very clear and worrisome trends. I'll grant you Kosuke, but who else? Ramirez is slumping, he'll be fine. Lee has lost his power, but it's not a physical thing with his wrist because he was hitting for power earlier this year. I bet he'll bounce back, nothing ridiculous, but probably 12-15 HR in the second half. Other than those three, what are the worrisome trends? I'm really concerned by these poor at bats on the road. They act like these games make no difference at all. I'm not referring to Ryan, or all of them per say, but I see so many at bats just tossed away. A-Ram is doing this a lot, D Lee some as well. It's like they can't wait to get back into the dug out...or can't wait for the game to be over. Hey perhaps they need to have the race to tighten up, to get their competitive juices flowing. All I know is that games like tonight are very hard to watch. :banghead: Like I said earlier in the thread, I believe a good explosion from Lou behind close doors is needed here. I know he was frustrated after yesterday's game, but to see you're offense consist of a homerun by your pitcher, Lou can't be happy right now. To me it looks like the Cubs are trying to stay afloat while Soriano continues to rehab. But tonight, I think Lou should have gone off on them in the clubhouse.
  23. IDK how people can say the favorites at te Vikes, and then basically say the Bears would be "lucky" to be .500 team. Both teams have great defenses (last yr was a fluke, and I expect them to be Top 5 this yr), both team have questionable QB.Vikes have a better line and RB, but IMO, the Bears have better WR core, imo. So, tell me again how is the Vike a 11 win team and the Bears a 7 win team? The Bears, IMO, play their best ball, when people don't give them the credit they deserve. I suspect the Bears are going to come out and play with a tenacity that you saw during the Super Bowl yr. It wouldn't surprise if the Bears go into Indy's new place, and spoil the party by beating the Colts. I believe the Bears will win the division this (I know I sound like a gung-ho homer) yr---and it will be by atleast 2 games---and I do see the Vikes/Pack taking a step back. For the Pack it was inevitable, because going from Favre to Rodgers is a downgrade until proven otherwise. As for the Vikes, Berrian is going to be so lonely, cause IMO, the Vikes don't have the QB to get him the ball, and they will have to rely on APete more.
  24. The Cubs offense got shut-up by the mediocre lefty (IDC about his split, medicore is mediocre). The only reason way the team didn't get shut out, because Z didn't want to be shut out. 2 runs in 18 innings, guys. Congrats.
