  1. Cubs keep winning is all that matters. Make the Brewers have to keep up.
  2. The Cards maybe up in the score, but that HUGE DP will turn this game around. The Cards bullpen will not hold this lead. To me, this feels like a Cubs win late.
  3. He gets strategy happy a lot, I'll admit. But he has a good team year in and year own when conventional wisdom says he shouldn't. I don't like the guy much, but a "hack" is overstating it. The reason for that is Duncan. God dammit hit the ball of this ---SOAPDROPPING--- clown. They couldn't hit Brian Moehler. What makes you think they'll hit Looper?
  4. True, but Rose has as much of a case to be in the HOF as Santo. Look I am on board with the "Get Santo in the Hall" bandwagon, but I also believe Rose should be in the Hall, too.
  5. That wasn't my intentions. My intentions was to laugh at the suggestion that this "walter" website had us taking Tebow, right now. I was looking at the comical side of ealry mock drafts.
  6. I didn't know .276/.376/.409/.785 was considered "below average major league hitter." I wish I was considered "below average major league hitter" because then I would be getting paid. No it's not safe to say that. It may not be a favorable contract right now, but it's not a mistake. So can we save the overexaggeration.
  7. I don't know how good Tebow's arm is, but he needs to turn into a pocket passer or harness his running. Pure runners, like Vick, don't make it in the NFL. If he had the old McNabb's escapeability, I would be happy with him. Vick is actually a pretty good comp for Tebow. Outstanding athlete who are forced to play QB, because there team needed him to have the ball in his hands alot. Tebow got a good arm, but like Vick he won't be accurate with his arm at the NFL level. Tebow will be a RB in the NFL, not a QB.
  8. How can we take the HOF serious if this guy is in the HOF---http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/hofers/detail.jsp?playerId=118497---but not this guy---http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/rosepe01.shtml. IDK where the MLB HOF is located, but the museum in Cooperstown is the "Hall of Really good players." I mean really, would you put Mazeroski in the same sentence as Hornsby, Sandberg and Morgan? Or Gary Carter with Berri/Campenella/Bench/Fisk? Or Don Sutton with Cy Young, Walter Johnson, Fergie Jenkins, Mordecai Brown, Steve Charlton, Sandy Koufax, etc, etc? Of course not. Getting back on topic, Soriano and Ramirez are not likely to be HOFers regardless of how watered down the Hall has become.
  9. http://www.walterfootball.com/draft2009.php Look who this "Walter" guy has the Bears taking right now if the draft was held now? :pig:
  10. The Cubs are 69-46, the Cardinals are 64-53. If we go 24-23 to end the season, we'll finish at 93-69, which would mean that the Cardinals would need to go 29-16 to close out the season, a .644 winning percentage, to catch us. They're also about to go on a 10 game road trip. We'll know a lot more in a week and a half. A sweep this weekend would break their backs imo A sweep of the Cards this weekend (with Lilly/Z/Dempster going) would be pretty sweet, but alas I think LaRussa will have his boys ready to play because they know their season could be on the line this weekend. Sweep the Cubs and your back in the race. Get swept by the Cubs, and the Wild Card is your last beacon of playoff hope. Take 2 of 3 or lose 2 of 3, and you're not that far from where you are now. For the Cards THEY have to sweep the Cubs to get some momentum. But I suspect the Cubs will convincingly take two of three from the Cards, in the process also gain a game or two on the Brewers, who I believe will lose twice to the Natspos. But I do know that there will be ONE player who will want to go for the kill this weekend. I suspect you'll see Edmonds have a dang good weekend against the Cards.
  11. In some ways this Schillter fella, sounds awfully like a couple of other hard throwing righties the Cubs picked up in smaller deals...ie Jose Ceda and Ascanio.l
  12. Playing time would be the reason why he wouldn't accept a trade to Boston. Red Sox has Bay/Ellsbury/Crisp/Drew/Youkilis/Ortiz at 1st/DH, which means he would be basically a bench player. And apparently Giles thinks he still a starter, which I would agree. So it doesn't surprise me if Giles (who can block a trade to Boston, and he has that for a reason) doesn't want to be traded.
  13. Only people who think the White Sox are a Top 3 team in baseball, or White Sox people. Now people with actually working brains, would put the White Sox as a top 10 team. Top 5 would be: Angels/Cubs/Rays/Brewers/Red Sox with the Yankees/White Sox/Phillies/Rangers/Cards finishing out the top 10.
  14. Wikipedia shows that OMalley signed with the White Sox earlier this yr. Currently O'Malley is listed on the Birmingham Barons roster. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=t_ros&cid=247&stn=true&sid=t247
  15. This could happen.... :-k Gruden would keep Garcia. he can never have enough QB's. Nope. Garcia will threathen to retired, then ESPN will jump on the "Garcia watch" and follow him around like a teenager after Erin Andrews. ESPN will then give Garcia his own segment on the "Bottomline" and we'll get second-by-second update as to what Garcia wants to do, blah, blah, blah. Kidding aside, if the Bucs do land Favre, Garcia will officially ask to be either released or dealt. And I hope the Bears are in line to get Garcia if he becomes available. If they are not, then that is a sign that they are not committing to improving the offense.
  16. I look at Ryan Ludwick and I see Mark Bellhorn. One great season, then he fades into oblivion.
  17. About 10 more runs are needed for the day. Edit: Plus I want the Brewers going into their game having to win or else be down by 6 games. So please WIN, Cubs.
  18. If the Astros barely get 2 runs off the Cus last night with Berkman in the lineup, then Harden should be able to mowed through this lineup without any problems. Even with Berkman---who's pulling a Manny, wink wink---Harden should run through this order. I feel really good about this game.
  19. Don't worry about tonight, cause the next two are going to be Cubs victories. Cause Houston won't touch Harden, and Marquis will be less crappy then Backe.
  20. Hey there is always Chris Henry who is available. And we know the Cowboys loves those boys who like to fight the law.
  21. ???? Espn just said that they will be back to the game when it resumes... Len just broke in on WCIU and said the game has been cancelled. It's official, so we lost. I don't understand why the storm is going to be through soon, unless Lou just said screw it. and Krod blows the save. It's a crappy game, but the Cubs will still take the series, comfortably. We should win the series but we should've won tonight. We should get a chance in the bottom half of the inning I think that is the dumbest slkfjaljd rule ever in baseball. I'm not worry about it. With the way the Cubs starters have pitched recently, the next 2 games the Cubs should win easily. (That is if the Cubs offense decides to actually show up, and not mail it in)

  23. Dear Cubs; The baseball gods have given you two stoppages to let you remember that the Astros suck. Please take advantage.
