  1. I wonder if we can petition the baseabll schedule makers to allow the Cubs to play all their games against the Marlins in April, so we don't have to deal with them late in the season. And I do believe the Cubs will come back and win this game.
  2. Why is Derrek Lee still hitting third? There's no point in asking or answering that question. You don't make changes to an offense thats been dominating as much as the Cubs have been. Is was rhetorical. I am simply frustrated that our "#3 hitter' is hitting like Juan Pierre.
  3. Why is Derrek Lee still hitting third?
  4. I love Z and I always believe he will throw a no-hitter, because he's stuff is that good, BUT.......I believe Z will hit a homerun (hey Z, I'm waiting for your first 2 homerun game, hoss) tonight.
  5. While I do agree with that sentiment, I also believe the Pirates won't killed themselves if they don't sign Alvarez. I think getting LaRoche was insurance if the don't get Alvarez signed.
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98oP5Sc-0sg&feature=related This is what happens when Zambrano has two unlike Z starts in a role. He gets verrrry angry....And you wouldn't like him when he's angry.........
  7. The best parts of that video---other then the great moments that Edmonds have provided---was hearing has distraught and disgusted those two douche bag Cards fans truly are.
  8. Yeah honestly, do Lou and Hendry watch the games, or just oggle at his low walk total? He doesn't make a single bat miss. Every out he does get is usually a liner that is barely caught. The guy is just being slapped around and his OPS against is over 1.000. Its time to either stow him away forever and not put him on the play off roster, or just outright DFA him. He isn't fulfilling his job as a baseball player, and I don't see anyway he can fix his problems. Not with the repertoire he is currently using. I say DFA Howry, but looking at other options at AAA, only Hector Carrasco seems to merit a call up. Ascanio/Hart/Weurtz all have had mediocre numbers across the boards. Which leads me to believe the only reason why they haven't cut Howry is because the Cubs don't feel they have a suitable replacement.
  9. Maybe the Cubs can ask Eyre the next time he gets to face the Braves, to drill Franceour for us......
  10. Wow........a Scott Boras "client"/Yankee fan growing up, turning down playing for the Yankees to play at UCLA? In the words of Michael Kelso: BURNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is truly a bad yr to be a Yankee or a fan. Can't even signed their owned first rd pick.
  11. Man, if the Dodgers don't sweep the Brewers, after knowing you won't face either CC or Sheets, then.........I'm speecheless. Dodgers must win two.
  12. This is now just going public? I think Cubs/Giants fans can combine and tell Jayson Starks and the rest of baseball, "d'oh."
  13. I appreciate the first two yrs Howry has given to the Cubs. I appreciate fact that tonight he tried throwing---what I thought was---both a slider and a change to give the hitter a different look. But what I don't appreciate is Howry being hit around harder then a drunken cheerleader at a frat party.
  14. I think Hendry is gun-shy about dealing with the Orioles right now.
  15. Should we even wait to bring this guy up for Sep callups? He's been crazy good all year. We shouldn't. I want Hoff playoff roster eligible.
  16. That's just sexy. So sexy, that I have an Apple pie baking in the oven right now..............
  17. Marshall pitched in the 9th inning last night. I would be hesistant to bring him today. Now, I could see Gaudin, Cotts or Shark before I want to see Marshall.
  18. With the Brewers losing......... Let's Go Cubbies Let's go.
  19. So since they won't make the playoffs they'll just get the terrible regular season #s from him. I'm game. I think Washburn is signed for next year for way too much too. I am all about this move, get it done MO!! Problem is...Seattle is prolly going to ask for Chris Perez and Colby Rasmus for Washburn, b/c apparently Seattle thinks Washburn is a TOP MLB pitcher........
  20. I have to agree with vance here. There isn't one clear cut MVP on this team. That's not to say there hasn't been players who have been valuable, but in no way can you say Player X is more valuable to the team then Player Y. etc, etc. This team is winning because you have 25 guys working together as 1. So yeah, there isn't an MVP (such an individual award for a team that has won as a team) on this team. With that said, if the Cubs can get Derrek Lee to stop calling for his inner Matt Murton (as one poster so elegantly put it) and channel the MVLee we loved a few yrs ago, then this team would be truly, truly, truly, ridiculously good.
  21. I am watching it via Braves tv here in the south.
  22. You're right. Sheff's current wife, DeLeon Richards was born in Chicago.
  23. All I know was the fact that Owings future would not be on the mound. I was never impressed with Owings as a pitcher, even at GT and Tulane. I felt Owings future was likely at 1st base or LF. You really think that Micha could be a position player? He did a pretty good job of it in college. True, but he's been pitching for 2 years. Yeah obviously he still can hit, but athletically I don't think hes in the shape to play a corner outfield position. Yeah, but you think it would take very long for Owings to get in shape to play LF? I don't think so. Im not saying it would take really long, but I dont think you could just throw him in an play LF after pitching for a long time. It would probably be a year or two until he was truly ready. Thats what I think could be wrong That I would agree with to a certain point. Owings is not that removed from playing a regular position, unlike Rick Ankiel. If he does indeed goes to the Reds, they should put him the AFL and then spend half of next season in AAA, learning LF. I mean really, he can't be that much worst in LF then Dunn, plus he's got the bat to play the field. In other words....I didn't like Owings (or Van Benschoten for that matter) as pitchers, and I felt both had higher ceilings as hitters.
  24. What did he say? Read Bruce Miles blog ont he first page of this thread, my friend....
