  1. Alabama is whuppin' butt, and I am loving it....
  2. The loss to Utah could not happen to a "nicer" guy then Rich Rodriguez.
  3. Tough loss. Going into the series, believe it or not, this game was the one I was the least confident about. And the Cubs lost it. No biggie. Let's take tomorrow's game and keep on kicking butt.
  4. The Cubs are 35 games over .500 for the season. That's a stat that I am plenty happy about being surprise about...
  5. I agree. If the Cubs were say 15 games worse then what they are now (say 70-65), I could see the September schedule looming and making alot of people nervous, but seeing as the Cubs have established themselves as the game's best and the schedule in Septmeber doesn't look as daunting. In other words that Septmeber schedule is a fine tune up for October.
  6. I hope so.. I mean, the CUBS can close the book on them. But the Brewers cant yet, Im starting to figure out why you guys hate the Cards so much.. Bunch of babies they are. No idea if you are referencing Wednesday night's game or not, but if so... I don't blame Pujols for yelling at Villanueva. That was uncalled for, posturing at the StL bench like that. I don't like the Cards much at all, but still. Don't blame Albert for standing up for his team. It has to do more then just that. I agree IF Villy was yelling at the bench (which I still dont think he was) he was out of line. But all they do is cry about everything. They talked about how they don't like us because we watch our homeruns and we untuck our jerseys. When Braun struck out in the 9th, Molina also started saying somethign when Braun was walking away. I just can't stand them. What do you expect from an organization who supports Tony LaRussa and his paranoid tendacies? I mean, who hasn't TLR accused of cheating? Not to long ago they had a pitcher (Morris)who said that the Cards purposely lose to the Astros so that the Cubs can't win. Another pitcher (Kline)wish for bodily harm towards one of our---now ex---pitchers in Prior. I respect the Cards history and all, but when it comes down to it, the Cards might be the 2nd trashiest organization in baseball, behind the White Sox.
  7. Best reliever in baseball, bar none. mariano rivera might have something to say about that. He said "best reliever", not "best closer", duh........ :D
  8. Great win and all, but the umps blew a balk call in the 8th inning. JC Romero legs flinch before he made his turn to pick off Reed. I know this point is moot now, but what happens if the Cubs don't take the lead that inning, that non-balk would have pissed off some people on this board.
  9. You guys are welcome...... I told you this game felt like a win...
  10. you were close. Close but ultimately WRONG. You fail ;) I was a little off, but I am glad ARam went with the grand slam, instead of the mere 3 run homerun.
  11. I maintain my prediction that the Cubs will have a semi-big inning capped by a 3 run homerun and win this game.
  12. Maybe. He definitely got the most love from the higher ups, and he had the one big game last week. But who knows if that was a fluke or not. I would not draft a Bears offensive player. Alas you are right. Cause there's atleast two players who are draftable (late, nonetheless) but because of the nincompoop that is the OC (and not the show) and the idiots who are the "QBs", those offensive threats are useless in the bend, bend, don't score offense.
  13. How do you give up 13 runs to the Nationals in one game? Crap happens.......
  14. It certainly would be a lot easier to hold down the D-Backs offense. Although their pitching staff is better than the Phils. Is it really though? The Phillies have a better ERA and a much much better bullpen. Once you get by Webb/Haren Arizona's pitching is not so good Yeah, but once you get by Webb/Haren, you might be down 0-2. Or up 2-0, if Z and Harden pitches to their abilities...Because we know Z and Harden both have the ability to outpitch Webb and Haren, the question is....will they?
  15. It's one thing if the Cubs put ou their "B lineup" (Fontenot/Cedeno/DeRo in RF/Ward/Blanco) against any team, I could but the conceded feeling. But when you put your "A lineup" out against Hamels, your not conceding anything. This feels like a win to me. A late win (say 2 run homerun in the 8 and win the gam 5-3), but a win nonetheless.
  16. I think you'll like what Casey has to offer. He has a great feel for pitching, is competitive on the mound, throws some good pitches, and could make a nice middle of the rotation type in the majors, especially if he can get his velocity up a tick or two from when I saw him (gun had him around 87-90). You guys are spoiled out at Daytona with pitching. :D If I didn't know better, this scouting report on Casey Coleman sounds close to Sean Gallagher, but without the velocity on the FB.
  17. You know, bring the DBacks on. The Cubs and should, and perhaps will beat the Dbacks. Only reason why they won last yr, was Lou outmanaging himself. (And oh....throwing FB to Chris Young) Something tells me, it will a different result this yr.
  18. I like the chances of taking 3 of 4 from the Phillies. Will it happen, IDK, but can it happen, yessir. As for the NLDS talk and having to potentially face the DBacks.....I respect Webb and Haren, but i certaintly don't fear them, and I suspect a majority if not all of the Cubs players feel the same way. If you are imitimadated by a pitcher, then you are no good to the team. And, GO CUBS, let's beat those Female Horses from the city of the the gay motto.....
  19. 6 times the Cubs have put 5 wins in a row.
  20. the 2001 Mariners run differential was around +300. Insane, but that's how you win 117 games And Seattle hasn't been the same sense........... Besides when was the last time the Cubs had a run differential of 200?
  21. Don't look now, but the Cubs are 9 runs away from the RS/RA differential 200 runs...How cool is that...scoring 200 more runs then allowing?
  22. What an absolute nightmare. You know, I have to wonder if this was part of Boras' plans all along. I have no doubt that Boras had this in mind. In general I have no problem for Boras trying to get the best for his clients, but it seems to me that Boras will cross the lines of ethics (ie the ARod situation when he was drafted) to get the job done, and that is what I disapprove of Boras. I wish more teams would act like Brian Cashman when it comes to dealing with Boras clients, in that you want to talk contracts leave Boras out of the equation. In some ways, I wish Scott Boras would be "Jerry McGuire'd" already.
  23. I would die laughing if Dusty can find a way to get Juan Pierre, Wily Taveres, and N. Morgan in Cincinnati.
  24. Wait a minute, the Cubs already played and won? Stupid college........ A belated, GO Cubs GO.
  25. Everyone who gets this joke, raise your hand. Every time Geo or DeRo has a night like Geo had tonight, I get genuinely excited to see what the end of season RBI numbers could look like if guys go on prolonged hot streaks with men on base ahead of them. You would have to follow Todd MacFarland's "Spawn" comics to get that joke....Long story short, the main character (the Spawn we know) human name is Al Simmons.....
