  1. I channeling my inner Fred (no jokes, pervs) and I hope these are corrects: The Cubs have been held to 0 or 1 runs 13 times this yr. That's frustrating, but what counters that is this.......the following game the Cubs outscore their opponents 67-55, or an average margin of victory......6-5. And the games following the 0 or 1 run scored loss, the Cubs are 9-4 (with 5 of those victories coming on the road) in those games. Which means, I expect the Cubs to win tomorrow.
  2. http://dumbdownuniversity.org/store/popup_image.php?pID=47&osCsid=157a8815280a0cdba529bb81bea6db51 ^ ^ This is found in 95% of the White Sox fans homes.
  3. Quick trade him for BJ Upton or Jimmy Rollins.............. 8-)
  4. Who's leg does Matt Craig have to hump to get a callup?
  5. Huntingdon College .v. Faulkner University will be one heck of a football game................ :D
  6. Especially if ManRam, Kent, and Blake can get one more at-bat. If they do, you can almost predict a loss for the Brewers.
  7. As I said in the tonight's game thread, I except the Cubs to whoop the Marlins on Sunday. And with Fred's help, he showed that the Cubs are 14-5 on Sunday's.........so I like the chances.
  8. Seriously. If this were the case, Burrell would have been traded 5 years ago. Or Ryan Howard would have been traded before he BECAME Ryan Howard the superstar. Or Jimmy Rollins before he found his rhythm, etc, etc. Philadelphia is not city, I would want to play for had I been a professional athlete.
  9. CUBS are 14-5 on Sundays. Go CUBS !! Prove me right Cubs...........
  10. I suspect the Cubs will pound the Marlins tomorrow. The Marlins have struggled lately and the Cubs have been red-hot, I suspect the Cubs will win tomorrow handily, something like 13-2.
  11. That's it........I want BJ Upton (I have a personalized autogragh of BJ's from his days in Montgomery and Jimmy Rollins.
  12. Something tells me that if Sanchez is still out there for the 6th, the Cubs will get to him. edit: I notice they brought in one of the goofiest throwing lefties in the game, but my point still stands...I think we take the lead very, very soon.
  13. Are you kidding me, you rather face Hanley Ramirez over Cody Ross? That's insane. I don't care if Ross is hitting 1.000 against lefties, you still don't let the other teams' best player (Ramirez) kill you. It was a good decision to pass on Ramirez to face Ross. It didn't work, so what....
  14. Boras wasn't Harrington's original agent. If I remember he had a different agent the yr he was drafted by the Rockies. After he couldn't come to an agreement with the Rockies, he fired that agent and went to Boras. So my guess is Harrington wasn't the brightest colour in the crayon box.
  15. Personally, I don't see Hendry making a non-inside the organization move before August 31st, Basically what you see with the Cubs right now, will be the Cubs roster (for the most part) for the playoffs.
  16. Hawk Harrselson says....
  17. Cox does have one heck of an eye for talent. Chipper Jones was HIS DECISION. He also help signed Latino's like Furcal, Lopez, etc, etc. The problem with Cox is that he can't coach up the talent he finds....
  18. Yeah, if the team that has the player says, "okay, you can have him," then the team that makes the claim gets the player, and his salary. D'oh I forgot about that. I can't remember what it was, but that backfired for some team (it was probably the Mets) and they got stuck with a bad contract. The Padres did that several years ago with Randy Myers to block the Dodgers from getting him. That ended up being a horrific decision by the Padres. I forget the specific teams involved, but I also remember somebody claiming Jose Canseco to block a trade and then getting stuck with him when they didn't even have a starting position for him. I believe it was the Yankees claiming Canseco off waivers from Tampa Bay to block him from going to..........Oakland. http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2000/0807/672593.html
  19. It kinda is...Over at brewerfan.net they seemed resigned to the fact that their beloved Brewers are not catching the Cubs, and are banking on the Wild Card to get into the playoffs.
  20. Sean Marshall was recalled on June 24th: If my math is correct Marshall since being called up has gone: 29.1 IPs 25 hits .96 whip 4.02 ERA 3: 28 BB:K His first two outings after his callups is what is driving his ERA (7ER between the two appearances), but since then his ERA totals since July 6th are: 1,0,2,1,0,0,0,0,0. So yes, Sean Marshall has done extremely well. Too many hits for my taste, but he is countering that by not walking anybody so........ Feel free anybody to correct my math....
  21. Parra isn't going to hold this lead.
  22. This is why MLB needs to have a rookie pay scale (same with the NFL). There is no way this kids are worth what the agents are saying they are worth, right now.
  23. And if my math is correct the Cubs should be one game off their Pythagorean. In other words, the Cubs are really this good, and they don't rely on luck to be good. It doesn't hurt to have some luck, but unlike the Angels this yr and DBacks last yr, we don't rely on it.
  24. Hopefully his homerun in the 9th, can get Ward going again. It would be nice to have THAT KIND OF THREAT coming off the bench.
