  1. No it's not, because they won't catch us....
  2. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/aggregate?sort=GIDPs&split=0&group=9&season=2008&seasonType=2&statType=batting&type=exp2 If I am reading this right, the Cubs are actually middle of the pact in hitting into double plays. What seems to be the cause of the frustration, isn't the DP itself, it's when the DPs are hit. It seems lately that ALL the DPs the Cubs hit into are in crucial situations. And this crap needs to stop, NOW.
  3. We need a frakking spark, and we need it now. I believe Michael Wilborn said he felt when the Cubs beat the Phillies on Sori' homerun, that losing streak started because the Cubs felt complacent. Well guess Cubs, you no lnonger have a comfortable lead, so they need to pull their collective heads out of their butts, or this will be either a epic failure of a choke job, or a early rd exit in the playoffs.
  4. Hey, hey Cubs, guess what the Brewers are doing their best Howry impression. They REALLY want you to win the division. How about it? You mind if you win that pesky division title, cause that would be really neato, and swell, and the bees knees, if you could. Can you dig? snap, snap....
  5. That's not bad comp, but I hoping he can reach beyond that, tho...
  6. I would love to trade Lee to the AL, but the owner of the Astros haven't hired me on as their GM............... Wait a minute you're talking about Derrek Lee........unless the Cubs eat a lot of what's owed, the market for essentially a middle of the road to slightly under productive (offensively, obviously) 1st basemen's won't be big. Now I could see LAA being interesting if Tex doesn't re-sign and their in-house candidate don't impress (namely Wood and Morales), Baltimore Angelos is always on the market for an aging slugger. New York Yankees could be an option, I doubt that tho. Oakland would be an option IF the Cubs eat over 1/2 of what's owed. So, IDK if trading Lee in the offseason is going to happen.
  7. Oh for the love of gawd, I thought we would no longer see that d-bag, but now the Tribune is considering hiring the new Skip Bayless....No thank you. Please Trib, so no.
  8. I was bad for a little yesterday, but after 5-10 minutes got better :) Why the sudden change? Was it Jack, Jim or something stronger? 8-) Xanax. JD's been working pretty good for me this year. Tequila has been my answer, but the problem is after the third shot, I don't remember anything..........

  10. And I see him as a Mark Kotsay type player in his major league career. Maybe not with the Cubs, but somewhere.
  11. Holy Howry............... I come home from work to find the Bears whuppin the Colts in their new digs.....Oh yeah................ l
  12. No offense, I'm tired of using that as a crutch for the Cubs suckage right now. I am tired, as most are on this board, of having to hope that whoever plays the Brewers beats them. I really hope Lou Piniella has a heart-to-heart talk to his team in the lockerroom. That swagger the Cubs have had all yr, needs to come back, and come back NOW.
  13. The cardinals arent a good team. And neither are the Astros. Just because they are playing out of their heads, the Astros are not a good team. The Astros are 75-67, but their Pythagorean Record has them at 68-74. In other words, they've relied on two 8 game winning streaks in August to get where they are at presently. But in reality---even with Carlos Lee---the Astros are a bad team playing well right now. But the Cubs should still take 2 from them if not sweep them.
  14. not even close You sure about that? Both made errors in critical games late in the season to central division teams that lead to a loss? You want to rethink it? except in this situation, the cubs have like a 15 game lead. And we both know the Cubs have a chance to "New York Mets'd" the rest of the situation. After this DUMBBUTT loss, I want the Cubs to smash the Cards.
  15. not even close You sure about that? Both made errors in critical games late in the season to central division teams that lead to a loss? You want to rethink it? Or do you prefer that Cedeno "Alex Gonzalez'd" that play?
  16. Guys we have our new Brant Brown, and his name is Ronny Cedeno.
  17. That's the problem that coaches deal with when the face the Bears. If they kick it to Hester and Devin burns them for a TD or more, then people are going to call that HC a moron for kicking the ball to the most exciting threat football has seen since..........Michael Vick (pre-dogs). But if they kick away from me (sribbing it, or kicking out of bounds) and they are roasted for being a "coward", and/or don't have faith in the special teams. Coaches are in a lose-lose situation when dealing with Hester.
  18. What we need is a live chicken..........
  19. Winning isn't everything, it's not even the only thing. Winning shouldn't be an obsessions... With all that said..........the one thing I do know is this.......winning is fun. Come on Cubs, I know you like winning, so how it. Us Cubs fans would approve of a victory tonight. So, let's beat those" "commies" tonight, Cubs.
  20. This reminds me of Barry Rozner calling out ARam for not "hustling" every time out of the box. This is the media trying to start crap they have no busy trying to start. I'm sure Z has rub some people wrong over the yrs, but as the cliche goes a baseball team is like a family You going to like some people, and you are going to rub some people the wrong way, but ultimately they are still family and you will still defend them. What I am saying is, this kind of story is not a surprise especially during a 5 game losing streak. This is Levine trying to start crap.
  21. Which is why the Cubs need to return the favor to those losers when the Cubs go to Houston in a couple of weeks.
  22. The worst part of this series, is that the Cubs will be shut-out in two of the three games. Roy Oswalt shutting us out is one thing, but Randy Wolf....there is no excuse. When the Cubs get to Houston in a couple of weeks, they better return the favor to the Astros.
  23. Seriously though, we split a series we expected to split, and then had the misfortune of running into the hottest team in baseball. They're still the Astros. No excuse if we get swept. And the Cubs wasn't exactly cold coming into the series either. For some reason, the Astros have our number this yr, and thankfully they won't be sniffing the playoffs, but it is disconcerning that the Cubs are being whooped out home by the 4th place team int he division without their mandatory Cub killer. That is what's bothering me. They barely have a roster fit for AAA much less the majors, and they have owned us at Wrigley.
  24. I think they think they're alive for the wild card Beating the Cubs are the closest to the playoffs the Astros are going to get this yr. I hope Lou rips into his team. Not publicly (doesn't serve a purpose) but behind close doors. You CANNOT get swept at home by the lowlife Astros who are without Cub killer Carlos Lee. You cannot be swept.
