  1. Sorry I disagree. I've seen better fights in TNA.
  2. Furcal. Didn't Hendry want him to sign a contract with a clause in his contract that said if he gets another DUI, the Cubs can void the contract? I thought that was one of the reasons why he went to LA, but I might be wrong. The question shoud, if Hendry wants Furcal this time around would he be willing to not include that clause on that cause. The feeling I got was, if Hendry didn't add that DUI clause to his proposal the Cubs had a great shot at landing Furcal three yrs ago. Furcal at SS, Theriot/Fonetnot at 2b, DeRo in RF, Fuku in CF, sounds good to me.
  3. Because it is so much harder to run through the likes of Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern, and Iowa, because they are legendary powers. We can debate which conference is tougher and/or have more depth, but it would be a short discussion. Besides, Ole Miss would be the Big 10 second best team, period. Have you seen Ole Miss play? Of course not, cause you're allergic to tough hard nose football.
  4. No. The guy had a .299 OBP at first base last yr. He is a career .262/.318/.498/.816 as a major leaguer. If you are talking about a backup 1st baseman, then yes Jacobs could be a solid addition, but if you honestly think he should replace Lee as starter, then I don't know what to say. I much rather move DeRosa to first base, then try to acquire Jacobs, not to mentioned why do you think Jacobs is available in the first place---other then money. Jacobs sucks.
  5. Furcal. Gil Meche. The 2nd baseman who will remain nameless, in fear of this board blowing up.
  6. you're missing the point... it's 25 years. try to pretend the bulls didn't win 25 championships in the 90s, that's what it's like. a lot of the people down there haven't been alive long enough to see a philly team win. The Bulls, like totally, did not win 25 championships in the 90s.....It was more like 22 1/4 championship. Psah, get it straight.
  7. Where and how do the Cubs lose to the Nats, a Division Series sweep or an NLCS Game 7 loss at Wrigley? The Cubs beat out the Brewers for the division. Then sweeps the Giants in the NLDS (which sends the city into a frenzy because better an NL West team in the playoffs=minor world series victory) then they face Washington, in which some Steve Bartman lookalike in Chicago interferes (which he thinks is a foul ball, but turns into a ground rule double) with a ball hit near the stands, and the UMPS call a ground rule double, that forces Furcal to have stop at second. Then we see DeRosa get on a INF error by Guzman, and moves Furcal over to 3rd. (remember the Cubs are down 3-2 at this point in the game and it's Game 7 of the NLCS) ARam/Dunn/Soriano all strikeout to a pitcher who has a 6 era during the regular season, but all of the suddens becomes Brad Lidge in the playoffs with the potentially winning on base and the Nats celebrate their first trip to the World Series at Wrigley Field. The we see a look of WTF on Andre Dawson as he can't decide to be upset or celebrate the game. Yes, a vivid scene, but something we all won't be surprise to see happen.
  8. Seriously. I want it to be so that all MLB teams except the Cubs have won it within a 30 year span just so its that much more painful. Could be worse, the 09 World Series could be Washington Nats .v. Texas Rangers or Seattle Mariners..
  9. Here's to San Francisco or Cleveland winning the 2009 World Series. Just getting it out of the way.
  10. Pretends he is his cousin Bosley and protects Charlie's Angels? My bad, that would require him to acquire guard somebody, and we know that is not his forte.
  11. Noce for Harrington does work financially straight up. That would only be a laterally, just make a move just for sake of a move for the Warriors, tho. The problem with this scenerio is Noce still has 5 yrs remaining (Hinrich, who is said to someone of interests for GS has 4 yrs) and Harrington has one remaining after this yr. If GS has no problem taking back a longer contract then Noce or Hinrich for Harrington makes some sense. But if long-term deal is not something they want, then regrettabl the deal would have be something along the lines of Thabo/Gooden. But with Harrington continue to talk and lower his trade value, GS might be forced to take a contract like Noce or Hinrich for Harrington just to get Al out of GS. Either way, I think something gets done (not necessarily with the Bulls, tho) before the end of the week. Harrington has made if abundantly clear he doesn't want to play for Nelly or GS anymore, and GS doesn't want him there.
  12. At this point I'm not worrying about Ty's scoring. If his scoring consists on all kinds of dunks, fine, I just want Ty on the court for 30-35 minutes being active on both sides of the ball. If he can eventually add a decent 10-15 ft jumper that's fine, but what now I want Thomas playing to his strength. Exactly. I want Tyrus to prove he can belong on the floor 40 minutes a game because he is active on offense and defense. His jumpshot, while by no means good, has improved a lot since he entered the league. Enough to the point where I don't hate him for taking an open jumper. Still not crazy about his moves around the basket, but he'll get there. Based on the preseason and yesterday's game, I think Tyrus has made some big strides in the offseason, and after Rose he is the player I am most excited to see this season. Tyrus can be compared to young Tyson Chandler. We saw what Chandler became after putting on some weight and pairing up with a terrific PG. I really wanted to compare Rose/Thomas to Paul/Chandler but I didn't want to put that pressure on a rookie PG. But yeah, if eveyrthing goes to plan I could see Rose/Thomas being the Eastern Conference version of Paul/Chandler.

  14. There are trades to bring in talent, then they are trades you make to bring in expiring contracts. Harrington only value to the Bulls would be his contract comes off the books after the 2009-10 season, along with Hughes, and that FA class is going to be a monster class. Players like Wade/James/Bosh/Amare/Nowitzki could all in theory be available. So the Bulls should try to get some expiring contracts (hold onto Gooden, unless you get a player who'c contract comes off the book after 2009-10 season. Hence the reason why I am pushing for the Harrington deal. Like Jalen Rose of a couple of yrs, he marginally improves the team short-term, but his contract is what the Bulls should be interested in. If it nets us one of those guys I guess I wouldn't argue :) I'm just hoping that Rose/Thomas/Deng can develop into a very good nucleus plus cap room=a very attractive place for free agents.

  16. Agreed. He's 6'9" and shot 408 threes last year. In comparison, he only had 439 rebounds. I'd rather get Zach Randolph. You do realize last yr was a fluke for Harrington in terms of shooting threes? Because the next highest amont of threes he's attempted in his career was 293 (a hundred a fifteen difference). Such a high numbers of three attempted by Harringto was a product of playing for Don Nelson. Randolph has a career numbers of 16.2 ppg and 8 Harrington has a career numers of 13 and 5. On paper Randolph would be a better player, but I prefer Harrington because his contract comes off the books a yr earlier. Not to mention if you add Harrington to the team, *you would have both Hughes and Harrington coming off the books together after 2009-2010 (a yr after Gooden/Gordon after this yr). So if the Bulls (aka Paxson) is smart, in a matter of 2 yrs, the Bulls could have $36 or so million* coming off their books. In two yrs the Bulls would have Harrington/Hughes/Gordon and Gooden (and perhaps more if the Bulls can move Nocioni) off their books (sign decent 1 yr stop gaps) and by the end of the 2009-2010 season they could legitimately have a shot at any FA of that class that could potentially include James/Wade/Nowitzki/Bosh/Amre/Boozer/Okur. (I said potentially) Hopefully by then Derrek Rose is a legit superstar PG, Thomas is a formiable force at PF, and Deng develops into a strong #2 scorer. Which means the Bulls would be a interested destination for FA's in two yrs. So give me the cheaper contractual player in Harrington, who may be the inferior player over Randolph. **All of this is based on their current salary.
  17. His kids avg. is higher than his career scoring avg. (scoring in basketball terms only) As both a Bull fan and Crimson Tide fan I am embarrassed about Jason Caffey. Stupid Krause, want this bum over Michael Finleyy. But hey, at least one of Shawn Kemp's "known kids" is going to Bama.
  18. I am no longer 100% sure Peavy won't be traded, but I am still around 75% sure he won't be traded. To me there are a two teams with a legit chance to land Peavy; Cubs and the Braves. So unless Peavy is willing to waive his NTC to go to the AL, Peavy will be with one of three teams; Cubs, Braves, or the Padres. So with such limited options, IDK if the Padres can get even a Dan Haren type package for him, which is why I believe Peavy will be staying with the Padres. But if the Cubs are willing to take Greene or Giles (provided he would be interested in going to Chicago, which is doubtful right now) I think a Peavy deal could get done. But I still am not optimistic about a Peavy deal.
  19. Can Andrew Bynum? Or Dwight Howard? Or Shaq? Or Nene? Or any big bodied big man in the game. That's not a question mark just on Oden. So I think Oden will stay healthy and be productive.
  20. That play happened last season, but it was pretty awesome. Those almost never work, but when they do, they're epic. Several players on Millsap's team (coached by former Crimson Tide coach Mike Dubose) quit on the play.
  21. You will be in the minority. You don't pass on his caliber of talent.
  22. Hinrich for Al Harrington works perfectly. OR Thabo and Drew Gooden for Harrington. Both trades works perfectly on both realgm's trade checker and espn's trade machine. Problem is, it still doesn't address the Bulls need for an inside presence. The only upside in this deal for the Bulls would be to get out from underneath Hinrich's contract. (in one of the trade prosposals that would work for both teams)
  23. How come nobody wants to talk about the 2000 World Series? I thought that was a FANtastic series.
  24. You answer you own question. Josh Kroeger/Micah Hoffauir/Doug Deeds doesn't matter, imo they are the same type player.
  25. I know I think most people wants to see the Lamar Odom .v. Andrew Bynum matchup. But he atleast Greg Oden could have front row seats to that matchup.... :D)
