  1. Let's assume for forseeible future that Orton is out for the month. With that said, I expect the depth chart for the Bears at the QB for awhile will be Grossman/Heinie/and I assume Booker. With that said, the Bears have NO QBs on their practice squads, so the question is: Should the Bears sign a QB for the Practice Squad?
  2. Nick Saban has a philiosophy at Alabama with regards to recruiting and it's the "you shop, we shop" plan. I wonder if Dempster is testing the market, will we see/hear Hendry talking to Kevin Towers sometime this week. Sabans approach apparently works better in the NCAA than the pros. I understand that, I'm just saying Hendry should look around for another starter if Dempster is willing to test the market.
  3. Fixed. No way Florida pounds Alabama. They may beat Alabama, but Florida will not pound Alabama. Alabama has as much speed as Florida. Trust me on that.
  4. Could this possibly be a misdirection by the Bears? I mean I understand he was injuried, and he could miss a month, but Olbermann on the halftime show said there was a report that said Orton was driving himself home tonight. Which leads me to believe that maybe the injury isn't as bad as some are thinking. I am not going to believe he is out 2-4 weeks until I see him miss the game against Tennessee.
  5. Yes. But a couple of the Bears best performances came against "supposedly" two of the NFL's best teams in Indy and Philly. So, I expect the Bears to play well against the Titans. Beating them....they can, but it will be a team effort.

  7. Sounds about right to me. And good thing we have the BCS and no playoff. :? Same here. I'm not in favor of jumping one team over another team who is in their bye week, but with all due respect to PSU fans, Texas Tech deserves to jump PSU in the BCS poll.
  8. Yes they are.
  9. HOLY HOWRY....................WHAT A THROW AND CATCH.
  10. I concur. Even if Texas scores/2 point conversion, Tech still only needs a FG to win. Let them score. Get the ball back with plenty of time.
  11. This sounds like a take of the "Kobe Bryant rape joke" on Family Guy. :-k
  12. You're not kidding.
  13. I think we all can agree....Tonight he proved he can score when needed, the first two games he proved he can be a playmaker. Tonight I think Rose became the frontrunner for the ROY, regardless of Beasley numbers. A star is born, and we are watching it shine....
  14. Derrick Rose: Bulls version of Geovany Soto....or Geovany Soto in disguise? :-k :D)
  15. You got a believer in this Bama fan. Ole Miss by all rights should be closer to 8-2, or 7-3 at worst. If Snead can developed into a consistant passer, you guys would have won. Not to mention I love Ole Miss's RBs, McCluster, and Davis, I can't think of the third one, but he is a good one, also.
  16. We'll see on early December.
  17. I understand what you are saying vance, and Nick is definately a victim of his own ruthlessness so to speak. But a couple of reasons why he's not leaving Alabama: 1: Nick just turned 57 yrs old yesterday. Contrary to popular belief moving gets harder as you get older. He would only leave Alabama for the PERFECT situation. He won't Alabama for the NFL (he's done with the NFL, period). Personally, the perfect job to Nick Saban was the LSU job. That is the one job as I know of that he regretted leaving. If he had it to do again, he wouldn't have lefty LSU for the NFL. I know fans of other SEC teams absolutely would love for Saban to leave Alabama as quickly as he came (considering the recruiting classes he has brought to Alabama, and remember 2009 may actually be better then 08 class, when you can recruit the #1 RB, several top WR, and add some dang good OL prospects), but right now I don't forsee another school outbidding Alabama for Nick Saban. Not to mention Saban has COMPLETE control of the football program, unlike Alabama Polytechnic Institution near the Al/GA border. 2: The schools that can even approach what Bama is paying Saban, schools like USC/OSU/Michigan/FSU/LSU/OU/Texas these schools already have their coaches, and chances are they have their current coaches successors on their team. And quite frankly I don't see Saban leaving Alabama to take a step down job like Clemson or something similar. (if there are any Clemson fans on the board is offended by what I said, then I apologize, but it is true). I expect Saban to be at Alabama till atleast 60-63 yrs old, period. By then Alabama should have his successor lined up and ready to take over. I know you're cyncial, and I understand what you're saying, and I can't convince you why I feel this strongly about him staying. As I said earlier, the feeling I get is this...Saban has had one major regret in his career, that is leaving LSU for the NFL. He has said numerous times that if he could go back and change it,he would never have taken the Miami job. It's that simple. I know it's looks bad that he said he wouldn't take another SEC job, but let's face it, if it came down to taking a job you said you wouldn't and being unemployed, what would you do? I know he would not have been unemployed, but let's face it Saban did not want to stay at Miami. When he found out the NFL players are babies and would be polticians, he wanted out and Alabama gave him the means. Simple truth is this: We Alabama fans know Saban and his reputation, and yes Alabama has been burned by a weasle caliber coach (haha at you Texas a&m), but this is different. He doesn't need to check out the NFL anymore. Leaving Alabama would be a lateral move at best. Believe it or not the ony team I fear about coming and getting Saban is LSU. While Nick is focused at Alabama, and he is Crimson Tide at this point, Saban's heart will always be LSU. That is the god's honest truth. In fact when Saban retires, I guarantee you he will live out his days in Louisana.
  18. Looking back at it, it does sound creepy. That's what I get for watchign freakin Law and Order: SVU. As for his public persona, people want to call Nick, "Satan" and all these ridiculous statements about his character, but what people don't realize this guy is well respected among coaches (if not feared). Players and their families absolutely love Nick Saban because he is a straight shooter (the Miami situation was a lose-lose for him. He answer's those question and people think he leaves for Bama, if he doesn't answer then think he leaves for Bama, it was impossible situation, and he wanted to get the season over before he talked about his future at that time). I'm not saying Saban isn't without flaws, but Saban isn't this monster the media has made him out to be. This is why I defend Saban. People who don't follow Alabama football, or live in the state of Alabama they buy into the media perception of Saban that he is this money grubbing monster, which in reality is the furtherest from the truth. Nick Saban is a good man, prolly a better man then most---including myself---on this board. My question is: why is Saban criticizes still today for leaving the Miami Dolphins job AFTER THE SEASON, yet Bobb Petrino---after a brief Howrystorm---was basically given a pass for quitting on the Falcons DURING THE SEASON. So, I will defend Saban even if he does decide to leave for another school. Which is why I am perplexed at LSU fans (out of the view smart ones, like vance) Saban did more for LSU in 5 yrs then the previous coaches over the last 20 yrs. LSU was with the likes of Vanderbilt and Kentucky before Saban got there, and with Saban's help and recruits he help bring in, LSU has won 2 NT. People need to stop hating on Saban, and appreciate how great of a coach he is.
  19. so saban is afraid that if he went to coach at west virginia, they'd make him go mine some coal? Yes. I say it was irrational not logical. He admitted it himself in one of the interviews shortly after being hired at Alabama.
  20. You go ahead and think that. I hope you are being sarcastic, I really do. Which school can offer Saban the money, the power (he's got full control of the football program, Moore the AD is essentially a figurehead) the tradition that Alabama has. Schools that fit this description (USC/OU/FSU/PSU/Texas) either already have their coaches or they will have their next coach in line to succeed their current coach. And outside of those kind of schools, Nick Saban isn't going to take a step down in the coaching hierarchy, ie leaving Alabama for a school like Clemson. That would be like Mack Brown leaving Texas for Baylor. Do you see that happening? Cause if you honestly do see that happening, please pass me what your smoking cause that must be some good............ Contrary to the pubic persona that Nick has shown, Nick and his family absolutely do love it in Alabama. There are two fears that Nick has admitted to: 1: He will never return to Morgantown, WV. Why? Because even at 57 he still has fear of following his father into the coal mines. Irrational? Yes. But it what motivates the man. 2: Saban has grown tired of being label a merc (I understand why people would call him that and I understand why Saban has grown tired of it). He's not leaving Alabama anytime. Now I understand you may be pushing my bottoms on this subject, and if that's the case, kudos to you kind sir. I just don't see Saban leaving Alabama. Saban has already done the NFL thing THREE TIMES (Browns/Dolphins/Oilers) and a coach of his statute does not take a step down in the college ranks. Put it this way, Pete Carroll is more likely to leave USC then Saban is to leave Alabama.
  21. I'd like to think Alabama is better than ATM. Alabama did lose to Louisiana-Pick 'Em last year... Yeah well, every team has that one loss you want to forget. To be honest I was more embarrassed about the almost loss against Houston on Homecoming last yr, then I was of UL-Monroe. Reason? Alabama was playing fire for awhile last yr, and I knew they would get burn, and UL Monroe burned Bama. But to almost lost on your homecoming, nothing is lower then that. Simple truth, losing to a UL Monroe won't happen again under Saban.
  22. I know I saw that and it ticked me off a little bit. My first thought was if Eager wants to be of use to the Hawks "Escort" Avery off the ice. And when I mean "escort", I mean level him to the ground and drag his stpid asteroid off the ice.
  23. That fine with me. Lower the expectation in the case they decide not to persue Peavy (and you're an idiot if you don't persue a top of the rotation starter) and you don't devaste a fan base after such a crappy end to a season. I prefer the Cubs remain in the distance, and then strike out of nowhere, then to be considered a leader for him, only to watch Peavy go to another team.
  24. What are you talking about? The refs would call the foul on the Bulls for "flopping."
  25. Nah, I don't think the Bulls matchup well at all against the Celtics. I think the Bulls can beat a team of the Celtics caliber, but not if they can't matchup well. It's early in the season, so things are most possible right now. But Bulls have a bad combo of nobody that matches up well vs. either Garnett or Pierce. If feel you have to either slow one down offensively or make them work enough on D to cause problems. It would be a good sign if the Bulls have a shot in the 4th quarter. The Bulls lost all four meetings last yr to Boston. The two games in Boston weren't particularly close as the Bulls lost by a combine 48 points. The games were so uncompetitive that KG at one point was barking mock orders to the C's scrubs. And all of the big three were seen laughing and having a good time by the 4th quarter. So yeah, I'm hoping and expecting the Bulls to make sure the C's don't have an easy time with the Bulls. So yea, I REALLY want the Bulls to beat the C's tonight.
