  1. What about: Schwarber LF Bryant RF Baez 3B Zobrist 2B
  2. Brian Sabean should be commenting on this collision in order to be consistent.
  3. That was amazing, I was not happy when I first saw that he was heading home, but Campana sure has amazing speed.
  4. Is it unlucky when you are only hitting to 1/3 of the field and the defense plays to that 1/3 of the field? Or is it more of a typical outcome? He's just not a single's hitter. What's his AVG every year when you subtract balls that go over the wall? I don't think it's very good. But, that he can hit balls over the wall is why he's probably worth his contract. If you subtract his at-bats that resulted in homers, Pena hit .147 last season. For his career, it would be .189. I think I did the math correctly. If you do the same thing for Babe Ruth, his career BA goes from .342 to .281. I think that you can find similar drops for all power hitters.
  5. A)Dunn B)A-Rod and Fielder C)Stanton, Pena, and Braun D)Heyward, Soto, VMart, Berkman, and Travis Snider WC: to pm
  6. I think that they were concerned about a temperamental fan base. A team like the Blue Jays need someone to market the team around and this is probably the guy. What I don't understand is that they have minimal salary commitments this year, one in which they won't be competing. In two to three years when that team could potentially make a push with young pitching, why would you backload this contract (8,14,14,14,14)? They will still need a couple of pieces plus you know that players like Cecil and Romero among others will be due raises that could limit future spending.
  7. "The Cubs and at least three other teams had been negotiating with the Rays about Garza since the December winter meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Fla." http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=5998431&campaign=rss&source=CHICAGOHeadlines Those other teams sure were quiet compared to Hendry.
  8. So what are we looking at for a rotation? Zambrano Garza Dempster Gorzellany Wells With guys like Silva still lurking and Diamond coming up to compete as well, does this eliminate Cashner from the rotation (something that I have had my doubts about from the get go) for another year?
  9. With all of the interest that he is drawing, you have to wonder if Pena will have to take a one year contract to rebuild his value.
  10. If we would be willing to trade Theriot, this makes you wonder what we could get for him. In the past I didn't think that he would net a great return, but maybe we could get something of value.
  11. Sultans take Yordy Cabrera SS-OAK
  12. Amazing how in 50 fewer PAs, Soto has very similar numbers to all star catcher brian mccann.
  13. The Sultans select Asher Wojciechowski RHP Blue Jays
  14. The Sultans have selected Delino Deshields Jr.
  15. This still feels like an improvement. Getting any runs when they mean something in a game is better than what we have been watching for the better part of this season.
  16. Apparently Lou has found the problem. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/06/piniella-may-bench-fukudome-and-soto.html Third base/cleanup isn't really the problem. The main concern is the bottom of the lineup and stopping baserunners. Why does Fukudome have to lose playing time while he still gets on base. From what I can see he has gotten on 15 out the last 17 games that he started not including today. Byrd on the other hand, who he could also be given the time off, who has only reached in 3 of his last 8 starts without today. I know that he looked good tonight, but just because he has a good game and kosuke has a bad one has lower statistical meaning than the previous games leading up to this one (even Aramis hit that one walk off). Also aside from today, hill had thrown out 22% while soto had thrown out 21%, so there is another big difference, which is worth using for Lou to throw someone under the bus for to cover the fact that he has been making incredible poor choices all season long. I'm all for letting Colvin get more playing time, but I just don't understand the justification. Really, with the outfield that we have and the way that they have all been hitting, we could do an even split rotation and the same thing could be done at 3b with the three options there. Once anyone can show that they want to be on this team, they can maybe win the job. It is just so frustrating that these players cannot do anything and meanwhile guys like Jose Bautista are hitting more home runs than our infield when they have never hit this many home runs in any season in their career before.
  17. On 3-1 with the worst hitter up, the take sign has to be given to the batter.
  18. I bet that had it been Verlander who was throwing it, the guy could have been safe and he would have been called out as long as it was relatively close.
  19. Look at the MLB article. They word it in such a way that they allude to the fact that the call was blown, but just won't have the guts to actually say it. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100602&content_id=10727590&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  20. I had such high hopes with Castro up and now none.
  21. I'm probably being pessimistic, but i am pretty nervous about Gorzellany continuing to have this success on the third go around.
  22. so, a 230 hitter can't bunt, but a 350 hitter is a prime bunting choice.
  23. Well, you obviously have to keep your star catcher in case of an injury to hill.
