  1. Majestic also glues their letters on so its not as easy as you would think And it wouldn't be centered
  2. I bet that if I would discuss the Cubs on national television that I would be able to correctly identify Wrigley Field and pronounce it properly at least 1 billion out of 1 billion times. That said, it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
  3. On a TSN sports break thing, they just said that Blue Jays upper management is saying that Halladay is not on the market and that they are going to look into signing an extension.
  4. why is the camera angle that shows closeups of the pitchers (camera would be located behind homeplate) so grainy? that shot always looks terrible, like this is being filmed on some old reel to reel recorder. i feel like there should be the ticking sounds to go along with it.
  5. At least these all-star games showcase a lot of great defense.
  6. Isn't St. Louis a republican city generally speaking? Bush got boo'd quite a bit in his days in democratic cities. Not surprising. St. Louis is pretty well-split, but I get the feeling there's more vocal representation for the conservative side. Those displeased are always the most vocal. It doesn't matter if they are conservatives in this case or liberals when a conservative is in office.
  7. They won't make that, though. They so badly want a special moment at this year's event like we have had in the past. They will really try to milk this pujols/obama first pitch. Ever since the Ted Williams moment, each city has tried to manufacture something that isn't real.
  8. Did Lincecum warm up downstairs or does he know that we have another hour to wait for the game, so he hasn't even started loosening up yet? It looked like he was just going to get ready now.
  9. what would happen if his positive ped test result would come over the news right now.
  10. I agree with the Lilly thing. I would be upset if Pujols wasn't booed at a Wrigley Field All-Star game.
  11. This was bad, but those three hillbillies with the fake mustaches sharing one shirt may have been worse.
  12. Definitely won't be missing him next year. That is until Duncan almost assuredly gets his hands on him and his ERA drops below 2.
  13. I like how he admired a pitch that scraped the back side of the basket.
  14. I don't really cheer for other players to be injured, but last year, I had kind of hoped that he would never be the same that he had been in his Cy Young era.
  15. I would be upset if we got him via trade. He certainly would be the best pitcher on the team, but our pitching is pretty good as is. It would mean giving up Vitters for sure, which should not be done for a redundant position. We need a bat and another bullpen arm in that order.
  16. It looks like we won't be seeing Cotts back up again this year and I'd have to think that has to be it for him with the Cubs. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2009/07/cotts-out-for-season-after-tommy-john-surgery.html
  17. I hope that they just pile on and force the Brewers to blow their bullpen for the series tonight.
  18. What is his pitch limit for the game? At the beginning of the game, Pat said 90.
  19. Who knows what the effects will be long term, but after the game, Wells said that Lou having his back really amped him up for the rest of the night. "It was nice Lou had my back," he said. "Kind of fired me up to go back out there, get through seven and end up getting a win." http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-02-cubs-pirates-chicago-jul02,0,2051481.story
  20. Think that as much as anything else, Lou disagreed with the first foul ball call in that ab.
  21. I love Soriano being out of the lineup, but could someone explain to me why his replacement would be Fuld instead of Hoff?
  22. When I went, I thought that the whole downtown area was quite interesting. It felt like a miniature version of the New York financial district. Overall, what I saw, which wasn't much, was quite nice. I basically stayed downtown and walked to the ballpark and back. I was only there for one day on a baseball trip. Also, I had very low expectations, so that helped. I think that the river and the hills along with some unique buildings make the city fairly nice overall, though.
  23. I don't mind that choice to run. If he is successful a single scores a run and if not Milton leads off the inning. Now I don't know if I would have went on the first pitch, but I don't mind the call. Agreed, it was alright to steal. The thing is that you knew that the pitchout was coming and he could have gone on the second pitch. You make sure on the first pitch that Milton treats the first pitch like a 3-0 count with the green light.
  24. That hard Sam Fuld dive really made me think about that one catch he made up against the ivy where it looked like he should have caused himself to have internal bleeding.
