  2. I'm sure it's been asked before somewhere on this board/thread, but where do you get all your footage from?
  3. Totally unrelated from the topic at had, but I thought this was a quirky tidbit from Olney's latest blog
  4. You guys mean like a Mayor or something? Crazy, it's like we're all on the same page! Of the same book, no less!
  5. Yay, another former player to tell me crap that I can disagree with.
  6. Wow, didn't realize that on occasion he was a a total douche
  7. perhaps with the bad economy people have decided to cut obscenely-overpriced athletic wear out of their lives. Under Armour first came out they pretty much had the "market" to themselves with that line of clothing. Now "Nike" is pretty much worn through-out the clubhouses. As previously stated by somebody else, I to had some under armour shirts and they were terrible after a few washes. Is it me or does all athletic gear made of that nylonish material always stink like butt after a few wears? Every time I get a pair of warmups, or a lightweight jogging shirt, or anything after a few wears and washes it just smells like dirty gym clothes, no matter if it's been washed or not. Is there no technology to make that horrid stink go away?
  8. I live in Mobile, AL... about 12 hours away from Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and I don't get Marlins games, not that I care unless they're playing the Cubs, but that kind of zoning is absolutely ludicrous. States that don't have any baseball teams are getting blacked out because of this ridiculous nonsense and it needs to stop
  9. Hmmmm... it's a shame Sullivan isn't very reliable, because like you said he appears to be stating it as if he knows for sure it's going to happen. I just don't have much belief that what he's saying is true. At least it's something to talk about though
  10. That's so funny last time I heard that I laughed so hard I fell off my dinosaur!
  11. In my experience of making websites for things that there are already top notch websites for, particularly band fansites, it's better to just not waste your time. Besides, if you do a poor job, you will get disrespected and first time visitors will never come back. MLBTR, despite all its criticisms, does a fantastic job of posting rumors from newspapers all over the country almost every day, and practically all day too. Unless you've got that kind of time to compete, then there's no reason for anyone to visit your site if they can get faster news updates from them. I say don't waste your time unless you're planned to be 100% committed to the daily grind that Tim Dierkes is
  12. We did: And his name is Tyler Colvin. I get it. In the draft, players who have no consensus have a name. HIS name is Tyler Colvin. His name is Tyler Colvin His name is Tyler Colvin
  13. wieters will probably be more valuable at first base than vitters will be at third base. and quicker, too. True. It would be nice to have a 1B ready to go when Lee's contract is over. I didn't know they panned on moving Wieters to first, I thought they were keeping him at catcher
  14. Well, he's on the wrong side of 30, already past his prime, and his health suggests a decline could come sooner than hoped. It would be much more foolish to discount the value of a prospect who is years away from hitting the majors just because a 30 year old vet is currently at his position. If he voids his contract after 2010, it would be nice to have a replacement so they don't feel pressured to foolishly sign him to an extension through his mid-30's that will likely see him produce a heck of a lot less than he has to date. Isn't there an opt out clause in Aramis' contract, also? Yup. He can opt out after the 2010 season
  15. MLB Network has way too many former players as their analysts. I thought they only had like 5 or 6, but there's more and more each day. I think I've seen like 10 or more of them. That's a bad recipe. They got Alex Gonzalez on there now. Really? Is he going to provide any valuable insight? Maybe he can show us how to boot important ground balls. I also don't like the ego strokes they give the current players they have on the show. "Hi Cameron Maybin, show us how to play a ball off the wall" "Well, the ball rolls, I run up to it, plant myself, grab it, and throw to the cut off man" "You're a genius Cameron Maybin! Thanks for your time!"
  16. Oh and if this rumor is true and Hendry can swing a deal for Peavy without giving up Vitters, then holy crap I'll crap myself
  17. You talking about this? http://chicagocubsonline.com/archives/2009/01/cubsrumors12009.php I just found it, it's awesome just like I am. Who wants to touch me? Yeesh, this isn't a contest.
  18. In retrospect, choosing Vitters was probably the right move now. We already got Geo, so no dire need for Weiters. And now Vitters might help us net Jake Peavy. If he doesn't he'll be in our system until he's ready for MLB play until, theoretically, Aramis' contract is up and by that time Geo will (knock on wood) be an established top tier catcher with still a few good years left in him
  19. mike piazza out ops+d walker that year by a decent margin, maybe they're statistically progressive at the mlb network They claimed OPS+ was the major deciding factor, and they only chose one season per player, but they chose the best seasons for Cobb, Gherig and some others who didn't even have the best OPS+ of their careers for that selection. Even so, it didn't matter. McGwires '98 wasn't on there and there's a 31 point increase in OPS+ between him and Piazza. I think they were basing it on importance of position in relation to their overall numbers and OPS+. Which I can understand why they chose Piazza, but Walker did have a much better OPS than Piazza, but the whole Colorado effect I guess made them choose otherwise. Piazza had a 185 OPS+ while Walker had a 179, but Walkers OPS was 1.172 compared to Piazza's 1.069. Regardless, the list was jacked because they claimed they based it on OPS+ and they selected some seasons that weren't the best OPS seasons for the players chosen. IE Barry Bonds' 2001 (259) was chosen over his 2002 (268) or 2004 (263), mainly because of the home run record. Bleh, anyways. I love the show, and I love debating history
  20. Great deal. Guy is a stud, and only gonna get better.
  21. I would be pissed if they don't. They leave the winter meetings with an understanding of what the Padres wanted but didn't pull the trigger, then Hendry makes moves to acquire players to cater to what the Padres were asking for, including Olsen who was the specific player they wanted, and Hendry did this for what? Shiggles? I don't buy it. It doesn't make sense. It'd be like a giant slap in the face to the Cubs fans if they didn't at the very least revisit trade talks. The players they traded and the players they acquired haven't made them much better, if at all. You don't make these moves that are exactly what the Padres were asking for Peavy and not go after Peavy. They needed to get rid of Marquis, they did. They needed young arms, they got them. They needed Olsen, they got him. And now they're gonna say "Well, we got what we wanted in Milton Bradley, go Cubs!" BS. It makes no sense.
  22. I'd really like to start a Prime 9 thread to debate the show's lists, but would anyone participate in it? I love this show, but I don't have any friends who watch the network that I can debate with. The one I'm watching now said Mike Piazza's 1997 was the 9th best hitting season of all time, which is bullpucky, considering Larry Walker was better that year. Would a Prime 9 thread be a novel idea here?
  23. My brother is a huge Eagles fan, and he makes sports bets online. I'm sure he put some big money down on the Eagles. I hope he didn't kill himself
