  1. I call this one The Terminator. If you get a piece of it, I'll let you rename it...
  2. If he says he doesn't care about money and will come cheap, I see no harm in at the very least inviting him to spring training. As much as I'd like to see Marshall succeed as a starter, if Schilling is healthy and marginally productive it'd be nice to have a player like him in the rotation That being said I doubt it happens...
  3. With a huge leap of faith, and with the 21st pick in the Expansion Draft, The Big City Sliders select Rich Harden. Please don't die, Rich
  4. Looks like it is about the money and not the years.
  5. OIbviously BA is the mac daddy of minor league scouting, but are there any solid scouting websites out there that don't cost money to view? Only one I really know about is Scoutingbook.com but I don't really trust their listings that much. Is it any good? I also noticed Baseball Cube started giving basic 1-100 scale ratings of players. Is that based on just their numbers or is it statistical analysis? Basically I'd like to know which ones are the most trustworthy, accurate, and honest. Just wondering since I'm contemplating on turning one of my regular fantasy leagues into a dynasty league and none of the guys in it know about the minors so I was looking for some sites to help them determine good quality minor leaguers should we so choose to go the dynasty route. They need some convincing that they can be decent enough at it to give a crap about the minors, having some free resources out there would help Thanks
  6. He said when he returned from the minors... when he did that he went... 11GS 6W 1L 65.2IP 2.74ERA 60K He gave up only 7 more ER and had 6 more BB in those 65 innings than he did in the 10 he had to start the season before being sent to the minors
  7. Yay, more overreactions coming up!
  8. I hate you so much for picking him. I was hoping his being far down on the FA pitcher points list would mean he would fall past the next 5 or so pitchers taken. Liriano is my baseball mancrush
  9. Dusty Baker should host a game show called "Shattered Aspirations"
  10. Yeah. Poor guy. How can one reasonably expect to live any sort of comfortably on a lousy $10 million a year? I wonder if he can qualify for welfare on that sort of pay. Don't ever say that to Latrell Sprewell
  11. I'd give anything for Greg Maddux, David Wells, and Hector Villanueva to be on the list. why? Pretty sure he's joking.
  12. Personally I'm hoping Manny is on the list.
  13. Bet it won't. I think the general public perception on baseball would be more damaged than it already is, assuming the other players on the list are some big name athletes. Steroids, presumably, helped save baseball and now it would appear it's going to cause the most damage to the sport. Me personally I could care less, as I'm sure most people here would also share that sentiment. We love baseball more than the average fan, so much so we make it part of our daily lives via this message board. There isn't much that will phase out our interest in the sport. But to the average fan, I think their perception of the sport will be very badly damaged if the names on the rest of that list include some highly touted players. It won't be utterly destroyed, but it will take people at least a little bit before they can watch baseball the same way they did back when they didn't think anything was terribly wrong. If the list includes just a few big names, but mostly minor leaguers or journeymen, then yeah, not many people will care. I don't think it will end up that way though, but that's just my unfounded opinion
  14. Thought this was worthy of its own thread if true... As much as I'd like to see that list, I really don't want to see it since it could really set baseball back a lot. I know I won't really care, and most people here won't care, but the casual fan will care and it would be highly damaging to the sports
  15. With the 12th pick in the expansion draft, The Big City Sliders select Carlos Beltran of the New York Metropolitans
  16. You are understanding correctly. Halladay is yours. KPT selects Tim Lincecum. Mother f-bomber... that was gonna be my pick. I'll take Ryan Howard
  17. Until he gets suspended. 8-[ Not that I love ARod, but if Bud suspends him, that would be BUSH league. The integrity of this whole situation is ridiculoous, and if ARod gets suspended, so should every player who didn't break the rules and got caught. I'm not saying it's okay that ARod cheated, but so did alot of others, and Bud knows who they are. If he suspends ARod, he needs to sack up and suspend everyone who tested positive. If he does that, however, it's absurd, because NO RULES WERE BROKEN. I completely agree. Baseball needs to move forward already. What's done is done. You know what else needs to move forward? This draft! Come on people, I've got the Fantasy Draft Fever! I'm dyin' over here! :)
  18. It's not that it won't work because they'll inevitably start slow. It won't work because even if they start off hot in April, you then assume they suck in May, which means you'll get nothing in return for them in June. If you're gonna strike while the iron is hot, especially based on a hot first month, you do it in the middle of the month, you don't wait for the luster to wear off a month later
  19. Did everyone get an email from CBS with an invoice for the league? Cause I got one, and it's asking for the $160 league fee. I'm assuming they sent it out to all the members of the league?
  20. I'm sure not many care, but since Roast's team is somewhat of a conversation piece, thought I'd pass along the info I struck a monster trade just now. I'm not gonna lie, it's definitely not in my favor, per se, but I decided it was best to build for the future more than the present with what I had. I had no bullpen and little to no farm system, and some star players who were getting up there in years who were definitely not going to lead me to any championships, so I traded a handful of them for some youth... I traded: 3B Aramis Ramirez RF Ichiro Suzuki SP Brandon Webb SP Carlos Zambrano I got: SP Francisco Liriano 1B Joey Votto C Jeff Clement RP Mike Gonzalez RP Rafael Soriano P prospect Will Inman P prospect Jordan Walden 1B/LF prospect Kyle Blanks OF prospect Nolan Reimold 1st round pick (#11 overall, to offset the one Roast traded away last year)
  21. Awesome awesome. I take it we use the FA list on CBS to determine who is available for draft?
  22. I took that team over. So far I'm having a blast with it as well. I'm hoping to build for the future and contend for the present at the same time! (The latter probably won't happen)
  23. So far... #9 - Lee Smith #8 - Keith Hernandez #7 - Luis Tiant #6 - Andre Dawson #5 - Tony Oliva #4 - Dick Allen #3 - Bert Blyleven #2 - Mark McGwire #1 - Ron Santo
  24. Not sure if you posted this info somewhere, but I couldn't find it... will this take place via these forums or will there be a separate CBS draft for it?
  25. The order for the expansion draft is reversed from the league draft. It will be 9 rounds long, and you will choose 5 MLB players and 4 Minor Leaguers (as determined by league rules). There will be an MLB portion of the draft, and a Minor League portion of the draft. I'm assuming during the expansion draft the only players listed will be the only players available? Will that mean the previous owners will have their keepers locked in on their rosters before hand? Will CBS provide a list of all the available players before draft time? Also, can we assume that anyone not listed on the keepers thread by the previous owners are still available for the expansion draft? I have already input all keepers except for one team. You can get an idea of whose available right now by looking through the free agent list on CBS. It should be accurate, with the exception of DSB's Major Leaguers and MM's Minor Leaguers. Cool, thanks!
