  1. I want Demidov to fall, and Chicago to package some of their extra 2nd round picks with 18 and get him. That would be a baller move
  2. it's probably just the highlights talking, but if they're trying to go underslot, I would like to see if Honeycutt would take a bit of a deal
  3. the idea of Wiggins helping the Cubs in the 2nd half is laughable... Horton and Arias on the other hand, sign me up. After Horton gets back and has some solid results starting, I'm all for giving him a defined role in the bullpen - something like, you're going to essentially piggyback one of the lefties for 2-3 innings once or twice a week.
  4. I agree... gotta give Bedard someone on his level to play beside.
  5. Dodged a bullet... CCV has no business trying that challenge
  6. If they don't take away this penalty...
  7. Rich Paul was reportedly telling (non-Laker) teams that Bronny would go to Australia if they drafted him... saw it on Facebook from an Athletic article, can't find the link now
  8. who told that dude behind the plate that the mic is turned way up?
  9. i'd take the over for this year, definitely next year
  10. Oh what the horsefeathers
  11. I like the Buzelis pick. Seems much more skilled than their present bigs, as well as Terry and Phillips
  12. Moving one of Happ or Suzuki, even for a light return, may be beneficial in terms of freeing up positions and dollars, even if it makes the team a little worse this year... it doesn't seem like this is a playoff team, so being worse isn't so bad if it means a higher draft pick next year, as much as we know draft picks in baseball are almost always 2-3 years away for even the best prospects. There just isn't impact talent on this team right now... just a lot of guys who when they aren't slumping are pretty good... and that can result in a season around 85 wins if everything goes right, but this year shows how bad it looks when even just a couple things (health, bullpen) go wrong and the bats somehow all slump at once
  13. not sure there's anyone worth moving up for really... short of a Lavine or Vooch trade, I wouldn't expect anything other than a pick at 11. I think my hope is that Ron Holland falls to 11, he seems like he's got quite the ceiling if he can develop an outside shot.
  14. if Howard turns out to be a decent backup infielder (maybe on the level of a Jose Hernandez, to throw out a former Cub comparison), that's a better outcome than the following picks from the 2019 draft so far: 10, 13, 15, 17, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29
  15. the challenge system can be pretty effective and quick, but I wonder how many challenges teams will get... how do you decide when to use them? 1 per AB and then another if you're right? I'm sure there's already rules like that in MiLB, but I wonder what they would use in the majors
  16. the ones that seem especially harmful are when they get the first pitch or two of an AB wrong... going down 0-1 instead of up 1-0, moving to 1-1 instead of 2-0, really helps the pitcher.
  17. 0% chance I stay up and watch any of these games all the way through
  18. shocked that Willie didn't wave Bellinger home... please get us another run, Ian
  19. nice work from Busch and Belli... let's tack on a few more before Hector comes on
  20. Trading someone who is already good (and looks to be here for the long-term) for guys who might be good is a wild thought. Good starting pitching is one of the hardest things to acquire, because it's so dang valuable. If at next year's TDL we have Steele/Shota/Wicks/Horton/Brown/Assad all pitching awesome and we still need a star bat, maybe we look to make a move. But the more likely scenario is that one (or more!) of those guys either turns into a pumpkin, has their arm explode in one way or another, or turns out to be just ok rather than really good and can't get us a star.
  21. I'm sure he could be worse than Gomes, but it can't be by much... and he could certainly be better
