  1. nice work from Busch and Belli... let's tack on a few more before Hector comes on
  2. Trading someone who is already good (and looks to be here for the long-term) for guys who might be good is a wild thought. Good starting pitching is one of the hardest things to acquire, because it's so dang valuable. If at next year's TDL we have Steele/Shota/Wicks/Horton/Brown/Assad all pitching awesome and we still need a star bat, maybe we look to make a move. But the more likely scenario is that one (or more!) of those guys either turns into a pumpkin, has their arm explode in one way or another, or turns out to be just ok rather than really good and can't get us a star.
  3. I'm sure he could be worse than Gomes, but it can't be by much... and he could certainly be better
  4. I fully expect the Cubs to look beyond hapless against Hicks
  5. Not one person is arguing that the offense, or Morel, has been good enough. Everyone here understands that an average offense would have this team in first place easily.
  6. How many warning track fly balls in the series? My rough count is 38
  7. Ian's left foot went over the base... if it goes into the base he's safe
  8. I'm positive the Cubs will score once in the bottom, and also leave a guy on base
  9. How in the world is that not a HR? That looked like it was headded for Waveland off the bat
  10. his season numbers are fine. He gives us too many HRs, but overall he's fine. It's just that there is absolutely no margin for error with this offense
  11. Listening on radio and Zaidman said PCA was running on the bunt, but still impressive
  12. The Cubs didn't lose to the Reds Sunday, which was nice. Tonight they play the Rays. The Rays have a worse record than the Cubs. It probably doesn't matter. Jameson Taillon is pitching. I probably won't watch a whole lot of this game, since my son has a little league game at 5:30. His 10U team's lineup is only slightly more disappointing than watching Cubs catchers hit.
  13. Their farm sucks. We have plenty of guys they should be interested in that are probably not going to be Cubs regulars. Rengifo looks like a guy worth adding for this year, assuming he can play solid 3B and give Morel the DH role full time.
  14. Full lineup I think its worth a shot while Nico is hurt. Glad to see Seiya in there as DH
  15. Pretty sure NSBB did too when he was in Chicago
  16. Like Ian Happ not so long ago, I took a few days off. Let's hope that like Ian at the plate (9th inning this afternoon excepted) the time away will improve my game thread starting performance. Someone will pitch for the Cubs and probably pitch pretty well. Will the Cubs score enough runs for it to matter? Tune in for another edge of your seat 2024 Chicago Cubs thriller! Or don't. I get it.
  17. Apologies, Brock. Been away a few days. Looks like the Cubs are still the Cubs. I'll give it a go tomorrow
  18. and because they send our slowest non-catcher on a play he has no chance at scoring on
  19. lol, we lose by a run because they completely blow the HBP
