  1. enjoyed reading this: https://www.si.com/soccer/2021/09/02/usmnt-world-cup-qualifying-concacaf-dark-arts-berhalter-daily-cover
  2. Eh, he can at least be a solid reliever.
  3. Glad I didn't ruin the tank...
  4. The Rockies are really terrible on the road...
  5. You should be able to edit the OP like any other post. When you do that, you can change the thread title as well. Davies G1 and Steele G2. Interesting that the games are back to back meaning the Cubs are foregoing a game worth of ticket revenue for this DH. I guess there goes any big FA signings this offseason. Duh, was looking for a separate option. Thanks. I'm also surprised they're going back to back. Maybe trying to win some goodwill from the fans?
  6. Can't find the option to change the thread title... game 1 is Davies? Look for lots of dongs.
  7. Honestly curious as to how the US isn't red-listed
  8. "Ryan Pace should be the fourth best salesman at a Dallas-area Mazda dealership" "The team is moving to Arlington Heights so they can tap into an even wider range of obese Midwesterners dying for the opportunity to be run over by one of Mike Ditka’s drunk kids."
  9. I guess I have to do this again since they won... I'm 1-0 all-time starting game threads.
  10. Colorado on the road vs. 2nd half Cubs at home... 16 innings incoming?
  11. you would sign the worst/oldest player of the 3 just because nico hoerner exists? The point is that we have a team with a bunch of holes to fill. I think we need to fill those holes first before upgrading positions that are already filled by players like Happ, Hoerner, Wisdom, etc. and then deciding if they need to be upgraded. The obvious holes to fill are 2 SP, 1B, LF, and the bullpen. It's not like we're going to be contending next year. There is literally one position player on the team I would guarantee a starting spot to if he is on the roster. Every other position should be looked at as a possible place to upgrade.
  12. Lowering the LT would be a gigantic win for the owners, so it's pretty much what I expect to happen. Even if the floor comes up, I'm pretty sure you'd just see dudes getting huge one year deals to meet the minimums to play on garbage teams. Need a 5th starter? Let's pay an old guy who was good once $15 Million to suck and sell some jerseys
  13. If they let Burnes get to 20 Ks, I'm going to be pissed
  14. In fairness, Eloy would be physically incapable of playing outfield in Wrigley without maiming himself running into the bricks.
  15. Don't care if Rizzo comes back... 1B is so easy to find someone to play and he's probably going to have more back issues as he ages. Would love to re-sign KB or Javy, with Javy the more likely (and less valuable) of the 2. Gotta get some starting pitching - will be interesting to see how Steele and Thompson respond to being stretched out and see how Alzolay finishes the year. If we can count on 2 of them next year to be in the rotation and Hendricks can stop giving up so many dongs, I like our starting point. Want to see Manny Rodriguez, Ben Leeper, etc. get lots of chances in the pen. Fire as many of Brothers, Ryan, Maples, Winkler, etc. into the sun as necessary and bring up any young arms you think are big league caliber. Convince Ross that Heyward doesn't have to play just because we're paying him too much money.
  16. He's great in transition. Solid defensively. His best role is probably as a scorer off the bench, though his 3 point shooting may or may not hold up (though he improved every year in college). He's a great competitor and he will work his butt off to improve his game however possible. Probably never an all-star, but should be a reliable rotation guy right away.
  17. Javy is absolutely getting thrown at tomorrow, isn't he?
  18. Drop: Josh Donaldson ($150) Add: Rafael Devers ($100) Drop: Paul Goldschmidt ($100) Add: Matt Olson ($150)
  19. Fire everyone. Make them sell the team. This is just disgusting.
  20. happier times...
  21. While Dame is definitely better, I don't know that that gets you where you want to go. The dream is to find a way to get them together, but there's basically no way to do that unless Portland thinks Pat Williams is going to be a star
  22. Clearly, the Cubs are a frustrating team to follow. But it could be worse... 6-42 in their last 48 games. Wow
  23. Jason Heyward is being paid $21,000,000 this year. The MLB minimum salary is $570,500. Now, if you want to talk about minor league players going through all this and playing for peanuts and getting treated terribly, I'm with you. But no major league ballplayer has any room to whine about being tested and having their movement restricted. They can literally just go get their vaccine and get those restrictions removed. Even the guys making the bare minimum have a level of wealth that the average American can only dream of. Science has shown the vaccines work. Get a shot you millionaire meatheads
  24. Wes McKennie is a monster in the air
