  1. Fair enough but I used an ancient screen name there, as I do most places (rocketpig). So when you were posting here as rocketpig, was that a test run on the response for new members?
  2. Even if it's just running, etc. that seems like a big surprise. If he can get into games this summer, that's good news edit: Named After Maddux shared on Twitter that Canario messaged him and it's not legit.
  3. just link to whatever Named After Maddux and the crew at North Side Bound do.
  4. The biggest frustrations I have with Illinois this year are that 1. They keep taking like 25 3s a game, despite shooting under 30% in conference play, and 2. Their effort seems to come and go with no rhyme or reason. I'm convinced that the Michigan game will again have Illinois fans pulling out their hair, and that they'll turn around and beat Purdue in Mackey - giving them 3 great wins on the year in the middle of an otherwise meh tournament resume
  5. McCabe has been one of their better defensemen, Lafferty was playing fairly well. If they trade Kane as expected, that will hurt the team too. They've got a chance to really up their tanking game after the trades go through.
  6. Contreras was an infielder who moved to C, right? Proof of concept...
  7. Probably nothing, but I guess it's possible that the sunlight sensitivity was negatively affecting some elements of his concentration/fine motor control. I wouldn't put much stock into him getting a control bump from being able to see the target in hi def though. an old NSBB favorite seemed to think they benefited him as a hitter... https://vault.si.com/vault/2005/06/06/taking-the-red-eye
  8. Think they can re-sign him after this year since he won't be traded? Obviously would need a much cheaper than his current $10M+ deal, but can you get him for $5-6 million? I honestly have no concept of hockey salaries right now, so that may be laughable.
  9. If Fields is an average passer, he's likely a top 10 overall QB. He hasn't yet been an average passer, but it would have taken prime Brady or Peyton to drag last year's Bears offense to league average. It's impossible to judge how good he is based on the last 2 years, but you can see the tools and his ability to turn just about any play into a 60+ yard TD is unparalleled at the position.
  10. And it's especially crazy, because a week ago they were calling EVERYTHING in the Illinois-Iowa game
  11. Should be good for the tank, and for AKME to go ahead and blow things up this offseason. What a waste.
  12. absolute best tweet about this, via Robin Lopez:
  13. Except he doesn't freely elbow guys in the head. Last year was a different story, but he's been much more under control this season on both ends of the court. The guy doesn't get into foul trouble because he changed his defensive style of play. On offense, he's gone to the right hook a lot more this year and isn't leading with his elbows nor lowering his shoulder into people. And yeah, if he was four inches shorter he wouldn't be as dominant. But the fact remains that he is 7'4 and has progressed tremendously for a guy that's only been playing for 5.5 years. I'll admit I haven't watched him as much this year, so if he's gone less brute force, then good on him and Painter cleaning that up. And he is very talented and certainly worthy of the praise he receives. I was just pointing out that those 4 inches make a huge difference - and he uses them to his advantage very well.
  14. I think they’re incredibly mediocre and very beatable, but in a year where there’s no good teams and everyone is on the spectrum of suck maybe they sneak through but I am not a fan of what I saw yesterday (granted haven’t watched them much). Edey appears to be way too slow for the NBA, even for a big, can he shoot the three? Appears to have good form on FT's but, don't think I've ever seen him shot a three. Slowness is Dickinson' problem as well, but he can hit a three and appears to have better post-up game. A good portion of Edey success is him being so much taller than everyone. No, Edey cannot shoot the 3 at all. And if he was merely 7' instead of 7'4'' he would be very good rather than great. He'd still probably be right there with TJD as the best big in the conference, but he would not be so dominant because he wouldn't get to freely elbow guys in the head.
  15. I think Indy has to trade up. They risk getting the 4th best QB if they sit still. Houston is taking a QB. Bears are trading down with someone. AZ could trade down also if they are offered a crazy package for the 3rd pick and the last of the top 3 QB prospects. I think the Indy pick is one of the best picks the Bears can get. They have a chance to get the best player in the draft this year and next year as I think the Colts will have a tough year. If I'm Poles, I try to get as much out of Indy as I can. If AZ doesn't trade down and takes the guy the Bears covet, they can then consider dropping back again to the team that wants that last top QB prospect. In other words, I feel like the Bears will be in another great spot to trade back a second time (or even a third time if they swapped with Houston, although highly unlikely). Yeah, Colts are an ideal trade partner. It makes so much sense. Division foe that needs a QB is sitting at 2. Years of vet QBs who haven't worked out. Likely going with an offensive coach (thinking Eagles OC gets the job, hence why no hire yet). They really need an identity as a franchise. And they have had good luck (pun intended) with drafting QBs at #1. Plus from the Bears perspective, they could be top 10 bad again next year. Also, as you said, if the Bears really like Carter and/or Anderson it gives them a shot to get either with a trade back. That being said, I think Carolina has close to the same level of desperation. Even down to a division foe potentially getting the QB they want as Tampa and Atlanta could trade up as well (NO has no 1st). Less obvious path to their division foe getting their guy, but also less obvious path to actually sit still and get their guy than the Colts. And if moving down from 1 to 9, you're talking potentially getting an absolute mint for the pick. Poles said he wants value, and if he's not sold on the top guys in this draft, this could be a more desirable trade. Feel like if they go to 9, they're getting 2 picks in each of 24 and 25 in addition to 9 and hopefully Carolina's 2 this year. Then I would guess they pick up an OT (Johnson? Skoronski?) Or maybe the 1st receiver off the board. Think they could get a solid pass rusher in the 2nd.
  16. Probably better for the kid if he doesn't, tbh
  17. Chourio and Salas went from Miami to Minny, didn't they?
  18. I'm all in on Cepeda based solely on the open collar down like 3 buttons and the chain. If he has an MLB logo tat, I'm declaring him the next Javy
  19. Scoot Henderson at 2 would be a good consolation prize.
  20. Can't imagine Houston would give up 2 and 12, maybe 2, 33, and a 2024 2nd? The Seattle deal for 2 seems like a decent chance, but is Seattle going to go after a QB or give Geno Smith a shot with 2 additional 1st rounders added to the roster?
  21. A good FU parting gift to an organization about to fire him after a single season. The Houston Texans is the worst organization in the NFL, by far. And, quite possibly, the worst organization in professional sports. The Washington Commanders might rival their awfulness
  22. Lovie Smith, giving one last gift to Bears fans everywhere
  23. I think the Bears best shot at a better WR is as part of a package for a team moving up to get a QB (Carolina with Moore, Indy with Pittman) - but at the same time it doesn't make sense for a team to move up to get a QB while also trading a good WR. I understand taking a shot on Claypool, but man it'd be nice to have that pick. If we had that, maybe we could move down in rd 1, but then use that early 2 and an extra 3 or whatever we get by trading down from 1/2 to get into the early 20s for a WR
  24. Absolutely no reason to watch now, and 100% the right decision. Dude has been beat up behind that line.
  25. They don't stay in games against good teams. Think about how bad they are. Now think about this team if they trade Kane and Toews. Shoot, even if they get Bedard, they at minimum need a new goalie and a couple new D men before considering being mediocre
