  1. "Day to day" until his spot comes up in the rotation, then just skipping one start, then 4 days later to the IL.
  2. Extensions seem the most likely option. Mooney? Kmet? Re-work Eddie Jackson's deal? Jaylon Johnson?
  3. first time all year Carrasco has recorded an out beyond the 5th
  4. not sure any of those pitches Morel swung at were in the zone
  5. hate when they don't call a strike when the catcher has to reach for it... it's still in the zone, call it
  6. Pretty impressive that pieces on Hosmer and Madrigal being off the ML roster have been quickly followed by their exits. The only logical conclusion is that Jed is getting his ideas from NSBB. Next article: The Cubs should trade for Shohei Ohtani
  7. It would surely take Lavine, but i'm ok with that... would like Scoot to drop to 3 in that case
  8. I just want to see them prioritize shooting. Wouldn't mind moving Lavine for an early pick - I just don't think he's good enough to carry a team. Great 2nd guy, but if he's your top guy, you're not winning a title in today's NBA
  9. I wish they would just call him back up and fire Barnhart into the sun
  10. List of reasons to be hopeful about the Bulls near future:
  11. If the Bears are in the playoffs, it's doubtful they'll be in the Peacock game. They'll want them on network to get the best ratings possible
  12. Hopefully he can see some success early. He has the kind of stuff that the Cubs bullpen is lacking
  13. How fast could Palencia move as a reliever?
  14. you just can't do the same thing... it's been proven that it's not good enough
  15. The idea that Assad was cruising is just wrong. He was struggling with his fastball command in the 8th, missing way inside to righthanders on more than a few. Yes, he got out of it thanks to a great play from Morel and a good pitch to follow, but he was showing signs of struggling and it was his 3rd time through the order, regardless of pitches thrown. Ross is probably fine in the grand scheme of things, but needs a better roster so that he doesn't feel the need to ride his bullpen for extra outs all the time. And for the love of all that is holy, get rid of the dead weight like Hosmer so he can't use them
  16. Why not pinch hit there?
  17. great play from Morel to make that turn
  18. This is the same team that insists Molina is basically the best modern catcher ever despite his career OPS+ of 96 in 19 years Comparison: Ted Simmons 118/21 years Pudge Rodriguez 106/21 years Piazza 143/16 years (obviously not a strong defender) Joe Torre 129/18 years (not primarily a catcher at the end) Gary Carter 115/19 years Carlton Fisk 117/24 years Johnny Bench 126/17 years Yogi Berra 125/19 years They've practically deified Molina, basically entirely because "defense, leader, clutch rah rah" crap. Of course they believe Contreras is unfit to catch. It was always going to be a losing situation for Willson, and with his comments about "always wanting to play for the Cardinals" and whatever, I don't particularly mind the schadenfreude
  19. If I was a betting man, I'd take the over on Alcantara strikeouts today... also, can Mervis just get one day where he gets 2-3 plate appearances against a RH bum?
  20. everybody else brings in guy after guy who throws 98, we bring in Brad Boxberger
