  1. That was an absolute tank
  2. It could easily be bad enough - depending on who they draft at 1. Their QB is either going to be a rookie with no weapons (seriously, their best WR is probably Laviska Shenault, who iirc they were offering around, and their starting RB right now is probably Chuba Hubbard. OL is decent and D should be solid, but they will likely struggle to score points.
  3. I still can't get over how great this trade seems. Only went down to 9, so there could still be a premium prospect or two on the board. Got their 1 next year - which could be pretty darn good considering their best non-lineman offensive player might just be their rookie QB, whoever that ends up being. Got 2 2nd rounders, and oh yeah - a guy who will immediately be our #1 WR and whose numbers (with trash QBs) would put him as the top WR in Bears history in terms of receiving yards.
  4. Zed Key being out probably helps them. Different style of basketball being played. Thornton and Gayle playing amazing right now. Probably ends tomorrow against Purdue, as Edey should eat them alive.
  5. also, Lonzo's knee is apparently held together with scotch tape and elmer's glue. Woj says another surgery may be coming
  6. they've got a couple good players but really just sorely lack depth; there's nobody they really trust on either end aside from the big 4 and that makes it really hard to pull away in most games i think Terrence Williams just never developed it seems; Frankie Collins would help a lot on this year's team. Tarris Reed looks like he will be good, but this year UM is only going to go as far as those top 4 will carry them - and that's just not going to be enough most nights unless someone goes unconscious from deep.
  7. Plus 2 dominant wins over tourney lock Illinois and I'm sure there's some other wins I don't recall. They should be in - if only because the overall field seems weak. Michigan going down again would likely help them as it's one less bubble team - but they're neck and neck with Indiana right now.
  8. Whichever team has the most pitchers arms explode/the worst pitching depth
  9. I think the pitch clock will hinder sign stealing attempts, right?
  10. Could just be me, but I've had all kinds of trouble the past few weeks browsing on mobile using Chrome. If that gets fixed, I'll be happy
  11. Kind of, I guess? I just wanted to get a feel for the community and that's easier to do if I'm registered and commenting. And I created that account quite some time ago, like maybe over a year ago? Just happened to remember some posts from you recently. My mind is weird like that and noticed a different name popping up, then when you posted about it here I wondered. Totally makes sense that you'd want to truly participate and get a feel before fully taking the plunge on a purchase with all the work that will seemingly go into the site moving forward.
  12. Fair enough but I used an ancient screen name there, as I do most places (rocketpig). So when you were posting here as rocketpig, was that a test run on the response for new members?
  13. Even if it's just running, etc. that seems like a big surprise. If he can get into games this summer, that's good news edit: Named After Maddux shared on Twitter that Canario messaged him and it's not legit.
  14. just link to whatever Named After Maddux and the crew at North Side Bound do.
  15. The biggest frustrations I have with Illinois this year are that 1. They keep taking like 25 3s a game, despite shooting under 30% in conference play, and 2. Their effort seems to come and go with no rhyme or reason. I'm convinced that the Michigan game will again have Illinois fans pulling out their hair, and that they'll turn around and beat Purdue in Mackey - giving them 3 great wins on the year in the middle of an otherwise meh tournament resume
  16. McCabe has been one of their better defensemen, Lafferty was playing fairly well. If they trade Kane as expected, that will hurt the team too. They've got a chance to really up their tanking game after the trades go through.
  17. Contreras was an infielder who moved to C, right? Proof of concept...
  18. Probably nothing, but I guess it's possible that the sunlight sensitivity was negatively affecting some elements of his concentration/fine motor control. I wouldn't put much stock into him getting a control bump from being able to see the target in hi def though. an old NSBB favorite seemed to think they benefited him as a hitter... https://vault.si.com/vault/2005/06/06/taking-the-red-eye
  19. Think they can re-sign him after this year since he won't be traded? Obviously would need a much cheaper than his current $10M+ deal, but can you get him for $5-6 million? I honestly have no concept of hockey salaries right now, so that may be laughable.
  20. If Fields is an average passer, he's likely a top 10 overall QB. He hasn't yet been an average passer, but it would have taken prime Brady or Peyton to drag last year's Bears offense to league average. It's impossible to judge how good he is based on the last 2 years, but you can see the tools and his ability to turn just about any play into a 60+ yard TD is unparalleled at the position.
  21. And it's especially crazy, because a week ago they were calling EVERYTHING in the Illinois-Iowa game
  22. Should be good for the tank, and for AKME to go ahead and blow things up this offseason. What a waste.
  23. absolute best tweet about this, via Robin Lopez:
  24. Except he doesn't freely elbow guys in the head. Last year was a different story, but he's been much more under control this season on both ends of the court. The guy doesn't get into foul trouble because he changed his defensive style of play. On offense, he's gone to the right hook a lot more this year and isn't leading with his elbows nor lowering his shoulder into people. And yeah, if he was four inches shorter he wouldn't be as dominant. But the fact remains that he is 7'4 and has progressed tremendously for a guy that's only been playing for 5.5 years. I'll admit I haven't watched him as much this year, so if he's gone less brute force, then good on him and Painter cleaning that up. And he is very talented and certainly worthy of the praise he receives. I was just pointing out that those 4 inches make a huge difference - and he uses them to his advantage very well.
  25. I think they’re incredibly mediocre and very beatable, but in a year where there’s no good teams and everyone is on the spectrum of suck maybe they sneak through but I am not a fan of what I saw yesterday (granted haven’t watched them much). Edey appears to be way too slow for the NBA, even for a big, can he shoot the three? Appears to have good form on FT's but, don't think I've ever seen him shot a three. Slowness is Dickinson' problem as well, but he can hit a three and appears to have better post-up game. A good portion of Edey success is him being so much taller than everyone. No, Edey cannot shoot the 3 at all. And if he was merely 7' instead of 7'4'' he would be very good rather than great. He'd still probably be right there with TJD as the best big in the conference, but he would not be so dominant because he wouldn't get to freely elbow guys in the head.
