  1. I can actually watch this game today (they are showing it in my market), which means the Bears will get killed. If they lose, you can blame me.
  2. Was anyone else sickened with the frequency ABC flashed the $14.5 million bowl pay-out graphic during that game? I mean, c'mon! Are we supposed to be impressed that ND is getting all that money? The players don't see a dime of it. I'm not arguing that they should or shouldn't, but let's not say "purity of the college game" out of one side of our mouths and "huge payout" out of the other.
  3. Did you forget the likes of Derrick May, Scott Bullet, Ozzie Timmons, Steve Buechele, Rick Wilkins, etc. Not sure if they were all on the '96 team, but there were some rough players out there EDIT: http://baseball-almanac.com/teamstats/roster.php?y=1996&t=CHN
  4. I think USC could. Their one loss would be to UCLA, a top 25 team, wheras Oregon, PSU, etc.'s losses were to "lesser" teams. Plus the media has had Texas and USC in the Rose Bowl since August. It would be bad for business if that didn't happen  Oregon lost to USC. Right, I was thinking they lost to Arizona, but that was UCLA. Either way, I think USC could lose and still be in the Rose Bowl. The networks are infatuated with them. Too bad Iowa St. couldn't get the job done vs. Kansas. Now Gary Barnett and his thugs get another game. I hate him.

  6. I want your crystal ball. You're basically guaranteeing that Howry/Eyre will suck in the near future while Ryan will absolutely improve on his stats. The Cubs should hire you right away with such unbelievable skills of prognostication It's no mystery. Look at the up and down natures of Howry/Eyre over their careers and the short term improvement they've experienced at an older age. What's your projection for the future? Yeah, they'll both put up 2005 numbers for the life of their contracts. Look at how the blankety blanking numbers trend for Pete's sake (i gave a link earlier in the thread). This is a fundamental concept in business/science/engineering. Please have some evidence to support your POV instead of blind opinion while calling my opinion looking in a "crystal ball" when I have given justification for my stance. I'm just not in the business of trying to predict what players will/won't do. I'm not going to praise or condemn these moves until we see some actual stats in Cubbie uniforms from these two.

  8. I'm hoping LSU and Texas' near misses knock a few points off their BCS %
  9. How can anyone's head be biggerthan Barry Bonds? (literally and figuratively?)
  10. I am glad the Cubs were in no way part of a deal for Ryan. That contract is plain lunacy
  11. That's that. In a way, I'm glad Penn State has one loss. This way I won't be pissed when they are undefeated but not in the Rose Bowl (entirely due to preseason rankings)
  12. Looks like a game Texas will "survive" rather than flat out win. Do they lose % points in the BCS standings?
  13. Back to a 1-score game. Texas can't put the Aggies away (yet)
  14. 21-15 at the half. Penn State has a lot riding on this (as well as LSU's next 2 games).
  15. Penn State won the regular-season title in all of the major fall sports (football, men's soccer, women's soccer, field hockey and women's volleyball). Football is #3 in the BCS. Women's volleyball is ranked #2. Field hockey was ranked #6. Women's soccer spent much of the year at #1 and is now ranked #3. Men's soccer is #9. Pretty solid fall! I just noticed that Penn State played 7 out of 11 games at home this year, are they doing that next year too? Next year they play 12 games, with 7 at home I believe. 4 Big Ten games, plus Akron, Temple, and a TBD team (since Louisiana Tech backed out....probably will be a Division I-AA team since everyone else's schedules are set). Only non-conference road game is at Notre Dame
  16. I know DePaul are called the Blue Demons as an offshoot of their original nickname, The Blue D-men. So what is up with the Demon Deacons?
  17. It's a sad, sad day when rotoworld is using The Score as a source of info. *sigh* Of course, if this is true, this quite a few moves for Hendry pre-Winter Meetings. Last year it seemed like he waited until February to do ANYTHING (besides signing Nomar)
  18. Cleveland Browns aren't a color. They are named after Paul Brown. What kind of Ohioan are you to not know that? #-o
  19. Ask JonMDavis, or go to his site. He may have it. I was walking home from work and heard it on the radio. Unbelievable. Sammy hit that homer right before I got to my door. EDIT: Seems to be the one NLCS game not on his site
  20. Now the Men's Basketball team is winning the National Championship! Right? Anyone?
  21. Anyone else excited that the NIT is going to a seeded bracket format this year? It's always seemed so random in the past In oth news, my Blue Demons have played just one game, losing to Dayton (I think). Lame
  22. My high school was the Little Lions. Yes, it's State College High School, and yes, they weren't original enough to not just make us a wussified version of Penn State. So embarassing.
  23. Yep, it's not bad. I'm making a trip to the logo store on Friday to pick up a cap and price out jerseys.
  24. If I read the schedule correctly, a MAC title would put the Huskies in th Motor City Bowl against Minnesota
