  1. I imagine that it wouldn't be a smart career move for anyone on the Cubs' payroll to do anything but lurk fan message boards.
  2. Okay, so I put on ESPNews and they say that Pedro has a no-hitter through 5. So I flip over on MLB EI to the game, and Mark Grace is trying to jinx Pedro. He sticks his head out the booth window and yells "Hey! Pedro! It's me! Gracie! You got a no-hitter going!" What happens next? Next batter gets a single. HI-LARIOUS!
  3. Who said anyone is watching the scoreboard? I just wanted an excuse to post the WC standings.
  4. Except that Macias will somehow bat higher than both Barrett and Corey
  5. Based on this year, however, don't you think Lee's agent(s) will try to push for an extension before he hits any type of career statistical correction in 2006?
  6. Guys, guys, guys, you aren't reading between the lines here. What Dusty is afraid of is that he will sit the vets, play the rookies, and they will do really well and the team will win. This will prove that they should've played all along, further damaging his credibility and further enraging the Cubs fandom since he refused to play them all year. This is "Covering my Ass:101"
  7. All I know is that whoever the next manager may be, even if its Torre, Leyland, whoever, WON'T be getting a 4 year deal. I think Hendry's hands are somewhat tied with this next year. Had this been Baker's last year, he wouldn't have gotten a new contract.
  8. Which actually means a 2 man bench, since you never pinch hit your 2nd catcher and leave yourself without a backup. Kasper and Brenley have actually pointed this short bench out on several occasions

  10. If the Cubs were actually serious about winning, they would skip Rusch's start and go with Maddux, Zambrano and Williams, but alas, they are the Cubs.
  11. It's an off day for the Cubs, but.... NL Wild Card Standings (Start of Day, 8/25) PHI --- HOU 1.5 NYM 2.0 FLA 2.0 WSH 2.0 MIL 5.5 CHC 7.5 Best case scenario today: CIN defeats WSH MIL defeats FLA ARZ defeats NYM CHC fire Baker, traded Burnitz, Hollandsworth, Macias Would result in: PHI --- HOU 1.5 NYM 2.5 FLA 2.5 WSH 2.5 MIL 5.0 CHC 7.5
  12. No were are still 6.5 games back if HOU and PHI lose. Right, sorry. Looked at the wrong part of my own WC standings
  13. Hey, as long as HOU and PHI lose, we're still just 5.5 back, right? Anyone? Hello?
  14. Oh look, another brilliant platoon pinch-hit by Dusty. It's like magic. righties his .860 against lefties and vice versa. Right?
  15. speaking of Rusch, why, oh why aren't they skipping his start with the off day tomorrow? Why don't the Cubs EVER skip bad pitchers with days off?
  16. So who is dumber, Dusty Baker or Joe Morgan?
  17. Why is he still in with over 130 pitches? AGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
  18. Prior owns this team. But a few more runs wouldn't hurt.
  19. ooooo, ouch! Booing Corey again are we?
  20. First BB for Francouer! Ever! That wasn't intentional! Which was just once!
  21. which wouldn't matter, since the Braves, like the Cardinals, are impervious to serious injuries, while the Cubs collapse like a house of cards when someon tweaks a muscle.
  22. High sky almost makes a fool of Jones, but the mighty Macias has flown out.
  23. Double for Walker, Lawton scores, 1-0!
