  1. Aren't those odds also updated based on how many people have made bets? Meaning the more people that put their money on Jones, the better his "odds" are according to Vegas?
  2. Just say no! This is the man who regularly pitched Livan Hernandez 130+ pitches per game. He too has a veteran fetish. We know how that story ends! He's the white Dusty!
  3. "Dude, you got to get the young dudes into the right situations, dude! Dude!"
  4. Larry Rothschild was quoted as saying, "Why should I bother fixing his mechanics? He's rich, he'll just get surgery every year. Now stop bothering me!"
  5. Do any of you guys think that the people voting on the MVP have a clue what a winshare or RC is? They probably don't know how to calculate OPS or what WHIP stands for
  6. I agree. Perez is not this team's problem. He's one of the pluses. Is he awesome? Heck no, but he's done his job. The problem with Neifi has been Baker. Neifi is an 8 hole hitter. Not a lead off guy. Not a 2 hitter. 8.8.8.8.8. Baker refused to see it. Neifi has a solid glove and puts the ball in play. He's pretty much done for the Cubs what he's done his entire career. .278 / 9 / 47 is way more than any of us would have expected when Nomar went down. What Neifi wasn't signed to do was start. While he has done admirably compared to his career numbers, he definitely wasn't supposed to have the 3rd highest # of games played (behind only Lee and Burnitz, one ahead of Ramirez). Yes, Nomar went down, but since his return, Dusty has still managed to get him into 5-6 games a week, usually at Todd Walker's expense (Walker has appeared in 86 games compared to Neifi's 124).
  7. Only about 30 more wins and the wildcard is ours! What, there's only 30 games left? ](*,)
  8. I think the voters put 3 names on a dart board and pick that way every year. Was Bonds more valuable than Pujols the last couple of years? Heck, how valuable was Andre Dawson on a last place team? On the other hand, Sosa beat out McGwire despite fewer HR, and Terry Pendelton won with a .319, 22 HR, 86 RBI line in 1991.
  9. Might mean something if FLA, HOU, and WSH hadn't also won.
  10. The best pitched, most fundamentally sound game in a long time and it only merits 9 pages of game thread (3 of which were prior to the game starting)
  11. So I don't get your question. You're saying that clevelandindians.com IS or ISN'T redirecting?
  12. I'm in Pennsylvania, but I bet if I leave now I can walk there in time
  13. I'm pretty sure that mlb.com hosts all the team sites. If you type in cubs.com, it forwards to mlb.com as well
  14. :D Hey no Neifi or Macias. Looks good to me. Maybe Macias is gone! Maybe my new signature has magically banished him to another dimension!
  15. Here are some from Iowa. http://www.iowacubs.com/aspx/roster.aspx?pid=324 and here if you scroll down a little http://woolis.com/2004SpringTrainingSpecial.htm Turns out I didn't need it. VVVVVVVVVVVVV
  16. I've got a new photoshop working. Does someone have a pic of Scott McClain? He's a tough pic to track down...
  17. I like that one. How about: "Every rose has it's thorn" when they bring in the bullpen. "Never Gonna Get It" by En Vogue "Everybody Hurts" - REM "Goodbye to Romance" - Ozzy "The Sheppard" - Prime "The Moment I Feared" - Slick Rick 2001 Space Oddessey theme I thought someone's suggestion of either "Wake Me Up When September Ends" or "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day were pretty apt.
  18. That, or figure out who should be there instead. Not sure any of the pitchers qualify ever since Hawkins was shipped. I've also been scanning around the web for some new ideas. It's about time I photoshopped up something new for this good for nothing team.
  19. Our dog is named Mojo, and yes, he is named after Homer's helper monkey.
  20. Agreed. All these night games are annoying. I'm sure they're great for all the 9 to 5'ers out there, but for me, they cut into quality primetime TV watching time. Actually, this "9-5'er" would rather have a day game as well. I can listen via internet while working, but when they are night games (unless west coast that don't start until 9), it is tough to find 3 hours every night to just sit and watch the game. Of course, for us "east coasters", nothing is worse than a 7:35 PDT start in LA or ARZ. That's 10:35 here, meaning the game isn't over till 1:30 am or so.
  21. Agreed. All these night games are annoying. I'm sure they're great for all the 9 to 5'ers out there, but for me, they cut into quality primetime TV watching time.
  22. I never said that Overbay was a better fielder. I just said on the whole that Overbay+A-Rod is better than Lee+Nomar/Neifi/Cedeno/whoever I missed your attempt to return A-Rod to SS. I thought you were talking about getting rid of the corners all together. Just for the record, Overbay and ARod is not better than Lee and Ramirez. Well, while we're at it, let's get Cabrera, A. Jones, and Guerrero in here (if we're going to get ARod).  Baker would still F that lineup up.
  23. I'll go you one better. Perez at short Macias at third Patterson in center Hairston in left Don't forget Blanco catching Prior. Which would give you a lineup that looks roughly like this: 1. Hairston LF 2. Walker 2B 3. Lee 1B 4. Burnitz RF 5. Perez SS 6. Patterson CF 7. Macias 3B 8. Blanco C 9. Prior P A lineup that Prior should be batting 5th in. Would that be the worst lineup the team could possibly field? I suppose if Holla was still here, he could play first
  24. I'll go out on a limb and say that this wasn't their song prior to 1983
