    Agreed. If they tried to be creative, it could work. using the bowls as a playoff wouldn't change the financial situation Again, are you sure about the money dropoff? I doubt that it would be huge myself. I believe that if the NCAA sanctioned a playoff, that the money would work the same as the NCAA basketball tournament. In other words, instead of the individual schools getting multi-million dollar paydays, all money from the playoffs would be equally distributed amongst EVERY NCAA school.

    yes, if only because it would be the 6th or 7th time Penn State will have gone undefeated in their history (with only 2 NC's to show for it)

The original question, though, was IF all three did win out, who should go to the title game. should or will? If one of the reasons for no playoff is to preserve the sanctity of the regular season, then you have to take the undefeated team(s), right? If Penn State wins out, they should be in. If Penn State has one-loss, they should not get picked over a 1-loss Florida and 1-loss Texas team (if they lose) I tend to think Penn State would go if unbeaten (and it could definitely be justified), but it's also justifiable that Florida would be more deserving - given that they might have three better wins than Penn State would. One of the two teams would feel screwed, which is the reason for the desire for a playoff system. the only people who desire the playoff system are the fans, media, and maybe 1/2 the coaches. The universities and NCAA want nothing to do with it.

    I'm not sure. Before the Cubs, the national media used the playoff failures by the Red Sox to play up the long history of falling short. Since the Red Sox won in 2004, the whole "umpteenth year without a WS" has fallen squarely on the shoulders of Cubs . This wasn't a big issue to the Cubs in 1984 or 89. As a matter of fact both years the media used 1969 as the indicator of how long it's been since the Cubs were that good. So how'd the Red Sox win it in '04 with that on their shoulders. They "Cowboyed up" and had Jesus playing CF

    thats kind of a dumb comparison really dumb no, tossing aside stats that don't support your case (under the pretense that one doesn't understand the formula) is really dumb using stats incorrectly to support your case is also really dumb (re: OPS+) even though i'm on your side of it, it was a pretty bad analogy... not my best
