  1. i was hoping apache would come out for halftime with Snap! singing God Bless America
  2. was Gary Glitter unavailable?
  3. no DePaul or Penn State? Shenanigans!
  4. Terrelle Pryor should have gone to UM. He fits into Rodriguez's system much better than Tressel's. Tressel will never run a true option-spread.
  5. World Series Rings: Scott Eyre: 1 Cubs: 0
  6. and Chris Duhon played 38 minutes...
  7. I've been a fan of Big 10 football for over 20 years, and I'm still waiting for the day when teh games rise above the weekly slap fights. I mean seriously, play some defense!
  8. having taught some of these students, I can say they definitely have a grand sense of "grade entitlement". They expect A's, and if they don't get one, they expect you (the prof) to provide them an avenue to change the grade to an A. If you don't give them that avenue (re-doing the work, extra credit, etc.) they throw a colossal fit. There is nothing in your statement that separates NW students from University of Memphis students. I can pretty much guarantee you that the two groups aren't in the same tax bracket most of the time. The NW kids are a mixture of kids who were spoiled financially and told they were brilliant academically. It's a rough mix. Needless to say, my teaching evaluations had some choice words from a few of them.

  10. At this point I'm not worrying about Ty's scoring. If his scoring consists on all kinds of dunks, fine, I just want Ty on the court for 30-35 minutes being active on both sides of the ball. If he can eventually add a decent 10-15 ft jumper that's fine, but what now I want Thomas playing to his strength. Exactly. I want Tyrus to prove he can belong on the floor 40 minutes a game because he is active on offense and defense. His jumpshot, while by no means good, has improved a lot since he entered the league. Enough to the point where I don't hate him for taking an open jumper. Still not crazy about his moves around the basket, but he'll get there. Based on the preseason and yesterday's game, I think Tyrus has made some big strides in the offseason, and after Rose he is the player I am most excited to see this season. Tyrus can be compared to young Tyson Chandler. We saw what Chandler became after putting on some weight and pairing up with a terrific PG.
  11. I voted for Obama today. Easy process.
  12. you could have the World Series in July and have 4 straight days of rain
  13. is Georgia's defense that bad?
  14. that's a good wrap up about the fans, but not the cities
  15. I was there a few times. I remember it taking like 30 minutes to get a beer if you sat down and ordered from the wait staff. I never stooped to My Bar.....why would I, I was actually old enough to drink!
  16. Without having visited them all I can probably guess that West Lafayette is the worst (i've lived in State College and Columbus, went to school in Evanston, and visited Madison, Bloomington and Iowa City) Depends on how you judge Evanston. I've never been to Minnesota or know anyone who has. Other than those 2 possibilities, yeah it's gotta be West Lafayette. my view of Evanston was that the University area was populated by super rich people who hated that the University was there. They passed every law they could to prevent the students from having anything fun to do. when were you in Evanston? It's a lot different than it was in the early 90s. Lots more bars/restaurants, and the downtown area is now a destination spot for those not in the mood to go into the city. Fact is, a lot of Evanstonians DO hate NW. The tax-free pass they get, based on a charter from the stone age, makes the locals have to pay obscene taxes. And the self-entitled, rich students are often not the most pleasant folks. Kellogg business students are notorious a-holes. For the record, I grew up in Evanston, and both my parents went to NW. I was in grad school from 1997-2000. They built the movie theatre complex shortly after I left. Otherwise you had a choice of about 8 bars (The Keg, etc.) plus some decent restaurants, but not much else. If you were an undergrad there without a car, you had no access to movies. You could go downtown, but the Purple Line stopped running at midnight, so you'd be stuck with no way home if you stayed out too late

  19. is this on national WGN, or just local?
  20. Bud Selig gives the worst press conferences in the history of press conferences
  21. a quick look back at the preseason poll shows why we shouldn't have preseason polls: Clemson and WVA were top 10. OSU was #2 the current top 3 were ranked 11th, 22nd and 23rd
  22. I know you're kidding but... he's starting. only because Hughes is out
  23. countdown to Rose not starting in 3...2...1...
