  1. Can we stop the pre-emptive Marquis bashing? He's failed to go 5+ innings only once this year. Yeah, he's not great, nowhere close. But he's hardly as bad as people want to make him out to be. That isn't directed at you btw, but it happens all the time on here. I'm all for criticising the guy, but he hasn't been that bad.
  2. Ken Rosenthal just reported on FOX pregame that Zambrano becoming a FA is more and more likely. He's apparently made it known he will no longer take the hometown discount deal which was 5 years/80 million. Said to expect the Yankees to be at the front of the lone for his services.
  3. It's been 2 appearences and he was a bit of a surprise callup to begin with. I hardly would consider it a shocking move. I'm not going to upset if its Billy. He'll be back.
  4. Doesn't sound like we'll be adding any more payroll like Hendry told us earlier in the season. This whole sale thing is quickly becoming quite the pain in the butt. I'm not even including the Jones deal in that statement. I'm more concerned about the effects it will have with Zambrano and any other potential moves before the trading deadline.
  5. That's my biggest complaint about Len. Aside from ARam's blast today, I can't remember that last time that he called a HR from the moment it left the bat. Don't get me wrong, I love Len. I think he's a great announcer and he adds a lot to the broadcast. But his depth perception leaves a lot to be desired. "Swung on, belted!"... is so much better than "high fly ball to right field... it's outta here!" But how many times did Chip miss with his, "swung on, belted!" comments? There were times when he was like a fan with a poor angle in the ballpark who would get excited for any flyball to the outfield (HR or easy flyout). Judging by the two games I saw in person this week, fans with poor angles or good angles all went nuts on every ball hit into the air.
  6. So The Rock is back. He was decent in his first stint with the club. Hopefully he can contribute.
  7. There will be on my TiVo. THought there was nothing to see with this game huh Vance? Hehe..Just kidding. Go Cubs
  8. Hehehe..... Way to go boys! Reading through the first couple innings of the game thread will be great.
  9. Ok... I've seen this Scrubs promo 6 times already now. WGN is awful.
  10. that's just flat not true. if he had nothing, they'd be hitting the balls all over the field...which they're not doing. take your sweet time, aramis. And if he had something, they would be missing more pitches. You can't tell me the high rate of foul balls has nothing to do with the lack of stuff/command he has today.
  11. I'm not trying to rag on Rich, but when a team is fouling this many pitches off it is a sign that you have absolutely nothing. When he doesn't have his curve, its glorified batting practice for the opposing team.
  12. He is. None of the 5 runs scored by Milwaukee were a result of his calls.
  13. Stupid crowd. Floyd broke his bat and half the place wet their pants.
  14. All the Cubs have to do is score a couple here early, it gets right back into the game. It is still just the bottom of the 2nd.
  15. Theyre hitting fould balls because Rich's stuff just aint that good today. actually, if his stuff was really bad he'd be getting lined all over the park. Opposing hitters making weak contact and fouling balls back isn't indicative of a pitcher who doesn't have anything. Some of the balss being fouled straight back against Hill I wouldn't describe as weak contact. Just like Hall just did. Its a sign that the batter just missed it.
  16. Theyre hitting fould balls because Rich's stuff just aint that good today.
  17. I don't think the season is over....but this game is. Maybe, but the Cubs still have 8 innings left. Its not out of the question.
  18. I know its like this at every ballpark, but I was just in town for the Colorado series. Why do the fans go nuts on every ball hit in the air to the outfield? See Lee's at bat just now, half the crowd stood up cheering like it was a 500 foot blast.
  19. I'm loving all the "season is over" posts. You can always rely on this place for some decent comedy.
  20. I am starting to feel about Hill the way I used to feel about Wood. When Wood pitched there was always a chance he would be completely dominant, or completely terrible. Hill does not have Wood's velocity obviously. So when his curveball isn't working, he doesn't have much else.
  21. Except Pie should not hit 8th ever. Hello breaking balls galore Pie is going to get breaking balls no matter where he hits. Not as many if he has somewhat of a competant hitter behind him I don't know. If I am pitching against him that is all I would throw. Its not like he's shown the ability to take those kind of pitches. He's going to get them regardless.
