My thoughts on the game as I try to wake myself up and get motivated to teach after a late night. 1. Good atmosphere at the game. It was quite loud at times, the students were all over Weber during the time outs. A smattering of Orange throughout the building, but not too much. 2. Leonard had a great first half, very happy that this might be the last time he ever plays against IU. I can see how some have issues with the way he handles himself. I'm not knocking the kid, but during one time out he basically walked his way back to the Illinois huddle from 3/4 court away. Weber just stood there and waited for him like an impatient father. Leonard walked by without even giving him a glance. 3. Yes, there were a lot of fouls called. Some from my awful seats looked like bad calls. Illinois did get a bit hacky with their defense at times. I really didn't think the majority were bad calls though. 4. Indiana was able to drive at will, not sure if that has been an issue with the Illini defense all year or not. 5. Was talking with an Illinois fan on the way out and he said over and over that when the Illini are supposed to be good, they struggle. When there are low expectations, they tend to overachieve. Not sure if that is a common theme among you guys or not. 6. I'm not going to make any idiotic "IU is back" statements. They are on their way though. This team is a year ahead of schedule and that is nice to see. It is always nice to beat Illinois too, I know you all feel the same about IU. Ok, time to teach...
