  1. Why? I'm sure he has talked to someone about it, as much as Heyman has. These guys are never going to be 100% correct and I find it hilarious that people get so worked up about reports that don't end up working out. Sun-Times saying the same as Rosenthal.
  2. Wow. Gunner Kiel apparently committed to Indiana of all places. Over Alabama and Oklahoma.
  3. Rosenthal just tweeted that the Yankess have no interest in Zambrano.
  4. I think this is shaping up to be a rather uneventful trade deadline for the Cubs. Probably see Fukudome dealt, but that might be about it. All the rest are either making too much money (Soriano), too little money to bother trading (Johnson), or don't want to be traded (Ramirez, Wood, Demp).
  5. Wallach has been a bit of a disappointment this year. 3 1/3 IP, 5H, 3ER. Guzman had a nice couple of innings.
  6. There is no similarity. Soriano has out-produced Soto by a pretty wide margin.
  7. From Keith Law chat today
  8. I think that ship has sailed. Marshall will be 30 and an FA by the end of next season, hasn't thrown 100 IP since 2007, and has never thrown 150 IP. That is most likely true. I just can't help but wonder how things would have turned out if he would have stayed in the rotation.
  9. Agree completely. It is a nice idea that the Cubs will be able to acquire young talent by trading off some of the higher paid veterans on this team. I just don't think it will be very easy to pull off. Leaving the salary out of the equation (which is stupid anyway), Soriano is having a decent year. Teams would love to have him. But we all know why nobody does, its the money. Dempster and Zambrano I don't think will generate the amount of interest needed to bring back high quality talent. Same goes for Pena. Marmol/Marshall might, but I'd love to see the Cubs find a way to get Marshall back in the rotation despite his brilliance in the bullpen.
  10. He resigned after the game today. Apparently upset his option wasn't picked up yet.
  11. I know the guy's had a really rough go of it, but yeesh. It's at a point where I'm hoping he can crack the 100 inning mark this year and get a do-over next season. Exactly. I think everyone would like to blame this on his illness and weight loss, but that excuse is only going to last for so long.
  12. Simpson gives up 5 in the second inning
  13. Does anyone watch game on MiLB.tv? Does it only mainly broadcast AAA games?
  14. What an ugly video. I'm pretty sure this guy is in my softball league. Very stiff swing. I like the concept of an actual corner bat though. Any idea of signability? Goldstein says he sent a pre-draft letter wanting 1.65 million
  15. Tampa has replaced Oakland in the eyes of many. I think Tampa does some very smart things. I also think that these has been an attitude emerge of "If Tampa did this then it must be right". Similar to how people used to look at Oakland's moves. These drafts are supremely hard to judge at this point in time. What looks like a good draft now could turn out to be the exact opposite in a few years.
  16. Goldstein says his personal favorite player still left is Lindor.
  17. Keep some perspective here. MLB Draft is extremely difficult to predict future success. Having said that, I hope the Cubs at least take someone people have heard of this year.
  18. But he was 6-8 in College ball....
