  1. Whatever they say isn't going to make things any worse at this point. They say some idiotic stuff, but hard not to when they are continually fed this type of crap on a silver platter. It's hard not to? Really? Hard not to comment on Zambrano and the incidents he's been involved with?
  2. The team is bad, no matter who the manager is. I don't see how Q commenting on the situation is somehow his way of trying to escape blame for the season. What do you want him to say?

  4. The key is not to read their columns or listen to them. What would be wrong with them doing so? Zambrano has become a clown, and he deserves whatever he gets at this point.
  5. Sullivan: "Z cleans out locker. Tells trainer he's retired."
  6. Via Twitter: Z walks out on team. Cleans out locker before end of game. Said to have talked of retiring. Q fuming
  7. The act is getting old
  8. If he had a Lilly like ceiling, that would be absolutely amazing. I don't think he is on that level though.
  9. Yeah, that was a pretty ignorant statement. Well, what do you guys want to see these final two months? The wins and losses will be mostly meaningless (besides potential draft position impact). Are you looking for improvement in certain players? Or, just ready for the offseason?
  10. So....are you excited for the last two months of this season?
  11. The 2012 Cubs in all probability won't be that good. The Cubs have the fortune of playing in one of the weaker division in baseball, but it will take more than that. The good thing is that there is money coming off the books (I'm starting to sound like Hendry), but the Cubs will still have some declining and unproductive deadweight on this team. Hopefully they can make some good signings and other acquisitions that might start the effort of righting the ship. I wouldn't expect super improvement though with obvious holes. 1B? 2B? Barney's job? 3B? New Ramirez deal? LF Ugh RF Who? It is badly constructed team at the moment and might be for a bit longer.
  12. Olney's Twitter: If you are sitting by your computer wanting to see what moves the Cubs make, I suggest finding something else to do.
  13. While not a huge fan of McCarver, I've read a few things about Castro moving off of SS as he fills out. BP has said it a lot. By the way, this team is an absolute embarrassment.
  14. I like this deal for Detroit. Two young pitchers who are under team control for quite a while. Fister should take a huge leap now that he is with a team that can score.
  15. What is the scoop on Yao-Lin Wang? Throwing the ball pretty well tonight for Boise and has been all year.
  16. If you get the flags, sure. If you don't, however, then when that 3 year window closes, you're looking at either floundering for a while as you rebuild your farm system or being like the Cubs in the Hendry era and filling every roster spot with FAs and loading up way too many contracts to win with any consistency. The Phillies have had much more than a 3 year window. They have been good for a while. I have my doubts on Pence, but I love how they go and get exactly what they want. These prospects are not guaranteed commodities. Being able to recognize that and turn them into proven young production makes sense.
  17. Flags fly forever. I dont think it's wrong to go for it like they have. Wish the Cubs were doing the same thing.
  18. I wonder if Pittsburgh would be interested in reacquiring Ramirez?
  19. While I wouldn't say I am in favor of trading Ramirez, I do have serious doubts that this team has any chance with him next season. I think it has to be explored to see what the potential return could be. If there is a deal out there worth doing for the future, it might be the right move. This team is bad, and I feel it will get worse before it gets better.
  20. What did people realistically expect in return? Fukudome wasn't coming back as has been pointed out. The Cubs received a couple of guys who most likely won't end up making much of a difference, but you never know. The Cubs have surely scouted these guys. They look like organizational players, but that is the nature of the deal. They weren't going to get back any type of top prospect.
  21. I don't see any team giving up anything of value for Baker, Johnson, or Russell.
  22. It would be nice if the Cubs could make some deals to get some younger talent in return, but I just don't think they have the pieces to do it. When you factor in performance, age, and salary, 10/5 guys etc, they don't have much to deal with.
