  1. I could see Jeimar intriguing the Yankees. Headley has been ass this year and they don't have much in the pipeline at third (or really anywhere). I'd be more willing to give up more for Betances than the other two, but I don't want to pay a king's ransom either. Yanks could try to use the Ken Giles trade as framework for a Betances deal.
  2. I totally forgot he was in the system. Didn't we talk him out of a college commitment with a big bonus?
  3. Still not sure how I feel about this trade. I know Mendy's star had fallen but I'd have thought we could get something more if we ended up trading him. Oh well.
  4. I'm going to Cubs-Phillies on Monday. A rainout before then would help both our causes! I actually went to a Cubs-Phillies game last year too that Arrieta was slated to pitch and it got rained out. I'm due a make-up.
  5. Matusz to the Braves with a draft pick for two minor leaguers, and the Braves have already DFAd Matusz. All about the pick. Arrieta 2.0?
  6. Yankees-Rangers game in NY. In the bleachers. Friends were screaming at Josh Hamilton all game "We've got Coke in the bullpen!" Probably the most use anyone has gotten out of Phil Coke.
  7. A couple years ago at the trade deadline, he went around hugging teammates in the dugout during a game, putting everyone on trade alert. Turns out he was just trolling reporters. I also recall during the roster introductions at the all star game a couple years ago, they got to Matt Moore and announced "Ben Zobrist" instead and Moore looked lost and surprised and Zobrist had an impish grin on his face like he was behind it. Seems like a prankster and doesn't take himself seriously, even if he may be a religious nut.
  8. 1. Torres 2. Contreras 3. Happ 4. Underwood 5. Almora 6. McKinney 7. Edwards 8. Cease 9. de la Cruz 10. Candelario 11. Jimenez 12. P. Johnson 13. Sands 14. Zagunis 15. Caratini 16. EJM 17. Vogelbach 18. Stinnett 19. Kellogg 20. Black
  9. Whole lotta former Cubs prospects in the news today. Also, the Rangers released the great Donnie Veal, who is still somehow hanging around, and the Braves called up former Marlon Byrd trade throw-in Hunter Cervenka to make his MLB debut.
  10. Diggs had a solid season but there are a lot of question marks at receiver. Vikings select Josh Doctson, WR, TCU
  11. Former catcher Scott Servais. Dude was the bomb. Apparently Montero was the first Cubs catcher to homer on Opening Day since Servais. I saw a tweet from Muskat and RT'd it with "lol scott servais" and Servais's daughter favorited it. I know, cool story.
  12. So Trevor Story has 4 HR through his first 3 games. That's a heck of a .... tale.
  13. Had to happen. Go Nova.
  14. Schwarber, Bryant and Rizzo combine to hit 5,000 home runs.
  15. I'll take the Vikings.
  16. For anyone who cares Are there anymore Izturises in baseball or that it? That Maddux for Cesar Izturis trade still irrationally angers me.
  17. He apparently said he expects to be fired, which makes me wonder if he isn't Costanza-ing this to get a job at Fox Sports or some s---.
  18. Petition to make Heyward's official nickname "Joey WAR Hands" Montero must now legally change his name.
  19. How has no one suggested David doing it? He is a robot. Working with technology and automating messages should be easy.
  20. I love this damn team.
  21. Yeah, same. This is definitely a 2012 offseason type signing. Though his past success makes it a nice flier.
  22. The Angels hired Brendan Harris as a scout, meaning he retired. Always liked him, dating back to when he was a prospect with us. I remember I was on vacation in upstate NY when the Normar trade happened and there was a front cover story on Harris being in the trade because he was a local kid. Memories.
  23. Hopefully your wrong and it's Coghlan + prospects to the Rays for McGee and we will have a 4-headed monster of an OF with Schwarbs-Heyward-Fowler-Soler Expand the deal Soler + Coghlan + prospects for Odorizzi, Jennings, and McGee. Sign Fowler and you have lots of versatility with 3 guys who can play CF or corner OF including a switch hitter. Remind me why we want Desmond Jennings?
  24. Ronald Torreyes traded to the Yankees, for anyone keeping tabs on former Cubs prospects/fallout from the Sean Marshall trade.
  25. http://www.bleachernation.com/2016/01/11/lukewarm-stove-cubs-and-rays-upton-fowler-rodney-chen-lazarito-more/ Cubs and Rays have still been talking trades. Would still love to see us add McGee and one of their starters.
