  1. Giants signed Austin Jackson to a 2-year deal. Reports are they want him as their 4th outfielder and are still looking. Things are "heating up" (relatively).
  2. Jon Singleton just received a 100-game suspension for another failed drug test. 'member him?
  3. It really could be nothing but the Giminez signing reminds me of Ross when we were trying to land Lester.
  4. Lol how petty is this? [tweet] [/tweet]
  5. Am I the only one who never knew this?
  6. "Chicks dig the long ball", not "Chicks dig outfielders with above average UZR scores"
  7. THINGS ARE HAPPENING! Also I can't believe Bruce is just 30.
  8. I'd too assume Happ and Almora would be in that trade. Albertos is a really nice prospect but he's so far away from the majors. If it's those three plus another prospect (de la Cruz, Hatch, Zagunis, Wilson, etc), I don't think that's unreasonable and I'd take that deal.

  10. [tweet] [/tweet] Kuechel Verlander Cole McCullers Morton And they have McHugh and Peacock. Damn.
  11. Damn, really wanted him back. He's got a better chance for playing time there, though. All that's in front of him is Martin Maldonado.
  12. I really like Foltynewicz but am meh on Teheran. A lot of his peripherals took a step back this year and his FIP was nearly 5. He's an interesting buy-low candidate for sure but I also don't think Atlanta would trade him for a small return and I'm not sure they would do a Marlins and sweeten the deal with a prospect. I'm alright if you think it's a bad idea (Teheran is a guy many people are divided on), and maybe I'm higher on Happ than you are, but how is Happ (a 23-year-old switch-hitter with some positional flexibility and 6 years of control left who slugged over .500 and posted a 1.8 fWAR in just 115 games in his rookie season, Caratini who the Braves having a glaring need for, Ademan (arguably the Cubs best prospect) plus others a "small return" for a buy low candidate? I more or less meant I wouldn't trade Happ for him. Something like Zagunis and Hatch, maybe. But I'm not high on Teheran.
  13. I remember the vitriol here when we signed Howry and Eyre and clearly things have changed. They were mostly good relievers during their time here and I recall thinking it was a waste to spend money on middle relievers. Now the "market efficiency" is super pens.

  15. The market has been so slow to develop that I could see why Cobb would decline that and hope someone offers more money and/or years. That said, I would still like him if he's willing to come down off his asking price. I don't know who said it here but I am expecting there to be a few random days in January where a bunch of deals go down. Pitchers and catchers report in 40 ish days. Free agents don't have that much longer to wait if they want to be in uniform on day 1.

  17. I'm okay holding on to Caratini but I'm not sure I want him being the primary back up to Contreras right now. I want a veteran game caller with solid receiving skills during a championship run. I don't care about the bat as much in this line up. Caratini's best role for this season is to be Contreras injury insurance in AAA because he's got options left and most, if not all, of the solid veteran options won't. Let him work on his receiving and game calling in Iowa and bring him up if one of Contreras or the vet back up goes on the DL. I'm much more comfortable having say Rivera and Caratini split time starting games in case Contreras goes down than Caratini and some NRI dude like Ali Solis or a veteran they scramble to acquire in season. Yeah Caratini, if not part of a trade, should get work in Iowa. He can come up if there's an injury. I'm still surprised we haven't just brought back Rene Rivera. Would be cheap enough and we know what we're getting.
  18. Well we did bring back Taylor Davis.
  19. Only if we include Almora in a trade for a pitcher. I would rather give him at bats and sign cheap 4th-5th outfielder than keep him relegated to 300 at bats and spend the money on Cain. He seems like someone the Giants should've signed by now.
  20. 4 bucks for something that was 75? almost sounds too good to be true. Like, is the quality terrible?
  21. Padres also signed Chris Young. Getting the gang back together. Now awaiting Adrian Gonzalez and Jake Peavy signings.
  22. Remember how Wade Davis was our only All Star this year? Good times. So we essentially got a year of Davis and a third round pick in exchange for the shell of Jorge Soler?
  23. My ideal scenario is Russell, Alzolay, Butler and other pieces for Machado and Gausman. And then Almora, Zagunis, Caratini for Yelich. Yelich Bryant Rizzo Machado Schwarber Contreras Heyward Baez Come at me bro. Lester Quintana Hendricks Chatwood Gausman Monty Go six man rotation. Sign Reed Reed Morrow Cishek Edwards Strop Wilson Grimm/Maples/whoever
