  1. I horsefeathers hate it.
  2. I think all the people clamoring for Canha are losing their minds seeing him sign a MiLB contract with the Brewers.
  3. He's a fine 5th OF option but has absolutely no power and is a disappointing add if he's getting a MLB deal. He's not better than Canario.
  4. I suppose that's a possibility though it might still feel like losing Canario for nothing. I think we would technically return Workman to the Tigers and they would trade him to us. He would then not require a 40 man spot. I assume the reason they haven't tried a trade for his rights is they're still seeing if he could help the bench right away (basically if they think he will need a 40 man spot anyway).
  5. Absolutely not a fan of losing Canario for nothing. He's still a useful player who was a good prospect. Hopefully they can get something for him but I worry as with Arias we'll get "cash" for PTR.
  6. Yeah this is what I've been saying for awhile. I like Workman quite a bit and he's already a solid defender but it makes little sense for him to be on the roster now. I really would like to work out a deal to keep him and stash him in Iowa. And I like Canario a lot too but it is notable how RH our bench is. Maybe we could package him and one of Merryweather/Thompson for a lefty or switch-hitting OF.
  7. Yeah I think Tommy cares about his image and ego/pride. Bregman could have been a fun addition but I don't think missing out should be the zenith of all these roster/spending issues. That said, I am always in favor of publicly shaming billionaires.
  8. Much like Brasier, this felt like it was bound to happen if we didn't get Bregman. And honestly, it's fine. Like many have said, this improves the bench greatly and gives us a proper backup at the corners/DH, which we didn't have. Is Turner cooked? Maybe. But our output from backups last year was atrocious. It was easily worth it and makes the team better on paper. No one is expecting him to get 400 at bats.
  9. What do you mean OUR 30 million? PTR needs a new Leer jet and has a country to help ruin.
  10. The Red Sox being into a 3B is just so random to me without a trade in place. Devers is there. Casas is at 1B. Yoshida at DH. The OF is all accounted for. I guess they wanna move Casas or Yoshida but there haven't appeared to be any takers/interest. All I've heard is them trying to use Casas as a main trade piece and being hung up on.
  11. Padres are signing Connor Joe, who was someone I had wanted for the bench.
  12. Doesn't even look like him from that angle. Slim Schwarber vibes. It does seem like he's always been a hard worker and he put in that effort this offseason. There's part of me that assumed he'd be used as trade bait but heck maybe they move Suzuki at some point and put Mo in at DH.
  13. Angels sign Moncada. One year, $5 million. Feels like something we could've done.
  14. Ok so at this point, if Boob's reporting is accurate, then hard no on Bregman and move on. I admit like everyone else I was excited about adding a big name to the lineup but the upgrade in terms of WAR is minimal and would cause some payroll issues. And after missing out on Alonso, I could see the Blue Jays just caving. Their 3B depth chart is Ernie Clement and Davis Schneider. Now just bolster the bench and maybe add another reliever, though after Brasier it wouldn't surprise me if this is the pen we take into camp.
  15. Another interesting point, if the Cubs get Bregman and keep Nico, do they have the best defensive team in the league? Gold Gloves at 3B, SS, 2B, LF, RF. CF is a sure-fire future GG. Busch played adequately at 1B and the catching tandem should be decent.
  16. That's possible, though I'm not sure what they'd want (I live in Philly and also root for them, when they're not playing the Cubs). I suppose they deal him for a proper CFer but them signing Kepler complicated things there. Their rotation is solid and pen should hold up (plus you're not trading Bohm for a reliever).
  17. Bohm and Turner and Stott with Aidan Miller a year or two away. And Schwarber occupying a DH spot. So, unlikely.
  18. But they re-upped Polanco, meaning they don't need to add an infielder. The Yankees are interesting. They have some intriguing guys ready to go in Cabrera and Peraza but don't seem inclined to let either take 2B/3B. Maybe Nico for Gil or Schmidt plus a prospect? Not my favorite idea but I can see the logic.
  19. You're killing me, Matt! He does have a Bluesky account, for people on that place.
  20. So the Cubs are paying roughly $12 mil for both Pressly and Brasier, instead of that 12 for one reliever. Jed squeezing all the savings he can.
  21. Cubs announced. Rob Z is the 40 man casualty.
  22. Gavin Hollowell is still occupying a spot somehow. He could be DFA'd as well. I also keep waiting for a trade to keep Workman.
  23. This felt inevitable. I said before, Jed has tried to get him at least once, maybe twice before. Given he was DFA'd, I kinda doubt we give up much.
  24. Are these your sources, Matt? That would be a somewhat complicated deal and I don't love tying up that much salary with him.
