  1. Yeah feels like that was the case. Angels also added Jordan Romano, who was a disaster last year but feels like a perfect one year gamble for someone like the Angels.
  2. I'm a fan. He did well last year and has been pretty effective most of his career. It won't be expensive and now we have two set lefties in the pen. It's not sexy but it's coming together fine.
  3. Since we're all craving an sort of interest or rumor or news... I live in Philly and also follow the Phillies and a lot of Philly sports accounts and people are going a little nuts now because Imai just recently followed Zach Wheeler and his wife on instagram and she posted a story featuring a bunch of Japanese snack foods. It is almost positively a big nothing burger but who the hell knows.
  4. Yeah Nico is likeable and his content-oriented approach and stellar defense seem like they'll hold up awhile. Definitely wanna extend him if he's open to it and I can't see them trading him. He's a pending FA so he won't fetch a ton that it would be worth it to deal him and lose a 4-6 win player.
  5. I remember when I posted on this message board when I was in high school and thought I was super smart. Now I'm 38 and still posting on this message board and realize I am not THAT smart. Participate in discussions, have fun, don't try to "outsmart" everyone on purpose in every conversation. No poster who has done that ever stuck around and I've seen many in the last two decades. Welcome to the forum,
  6. I would not be stunned if they bring back Pomeranz or Thielbar as the other lefty and then sign Fairbanks as the 8th/9th inning guy. It's not sexy but should get the job done. Missing out on Devin Williams really sucks.
  7. Idk, feels weird to start a new post every time we sign a small deal/minor league FA so I'll start with this. He was really good in 2024 and really bad in 2025. Depth reliever to fill out the Iowa pen.
  8. FWIW Leiter just signed with the Athletics for 1 year/$3 million
  9. Big fan. Wanted him last time he was on the market. Not a ton of money either. Side note, when he was a Phillies prospect in Spring Training, Milner also signed my hat after Scott Kingery did. Carlos Santana also signed that hat. As did then-coach/future GM Sam Fuld. All these guys have or will play in the Cubs organization. Am I Nostradamus but for things that don't really matter?
  10. I have not had enough coffee to process the last 2 pages of this thread
  11. On one hand it's disappointing and boring. On the other....not a lot really happened this week? Not just the Cubs. Some big moves yes but not a lot of action.
  12. I had a feeling upon seeing the terms that Schwarber went back to the Phillies and asked them to match his top offer elsewhere. It seemed he wanted to stay and Phillies wanted to keep him but weren't keen on going beyond 3/4 years. Guess they figured it was worth it. He's perfect for that lineup assuming they can address the rest of their OF.
  13. I just want us to come out of the next couple days with some kinda roster improvement. But this first day has been painfully slow.
  14. Well Boston signing Bichette would likely take them out on Bregman..
  15. OK so sign Bregman 5/140 and trade Shaw to the Marlins for Cabrera (and now he's closer to Mar a Lago so he'll be happy).
  16. Finally some more action. Pirates get a big OF prospect and a A-ball pitcher who posted some gaudy K numbers. Red Sox get a SP under control a couple more years, a hard throwing (albeit old) lefty and the Pirates' 5th rounder this summer. I like the deal for the Pirates.
  17. Pass. He's a nice power bat but has a big contract and can't play defense. I also don't really feel like helping out the Dodgers by giving them a prospect.
  18. Emilio Pagan back to the Reds, 2/20. The reliever market is moving.
  19. It's a fine depth signing. Ideally he never sees Wrigley but we needed infielders in Iowa and he can play several positions. Personally I've been a fan for awhile. I saw him play in Lehigh Valley. And I was at Phillies ST in 2018 ahead of his MLB debut and he was walking down the foul line during warmups and I asked if he could sign my hat and he came over right away and was super friendly and chatty and of course that stuck with me. And another fan came over and immediately asked Kingery if he was excited to play with Arrieta (who had reportedly signed with the Phillies that morning I think) and Kingery was unaware of the news and got super giddy like a kid. Always seemed like a good dude but the contract he got did not go over well and he was a bust.
  20. So much for him being the focus of our offseason. Pivot!
  21. Cerami got the goods https://x.com/Michael_Cerami/status/1992285585277383063?t=iIuSeCap16MUP7xE909N5A&s=19
  22. Born in Kentucky. Went to high school in Chatham, IL. And chose to sign with the Cardinals last offseason.
