  1. Yeah it's gonna be tough for Seiya. You can make the argument that Goodman goes as the catcher, taking him out of the DH equation. And you can argue Devers either not going or it being a Samardzija situation because of the timing of the trade. But then he's still contending with Schwarber, who's also posting solid numbers and is a fan favorite/well liked around the league. I doubt they pick 3 DHs.
  2. I mean what on earth would it take to get Skenes? Mo Baller, Horton, Caissie, Shaw? Is that enough? Is that worth it? And what incentive is there for the Pirates to trade him in the next 2 years?
  3. Yeah I'd like to aim higher than Keller but he does do some things well and is under control a few more years, which is nice. It depends on cost and leaving room to add other assets.
  4. Yeah I think Brown needs to get some time in Iowa and get things figured out. His peripherals show some bad luck but something isn't working. Hopefully Hodge is good to go and then presumably Fullmer gets demoted or DFAd for Shota.

  6. That is shocking. He is still just 20. Seems crazy to give up on him now when you spent a decent sum to sign him not that long ago.
  7. Mule and Wiggins were my two biggest hopes in lower level pitching entering this season. I like these two previous update posts.
  8. There's absolutely no power on the bench. A guy with a career SLG around .360 isn't the answer. We don't need an another speed guy. I know he's well-liked but I think it's soon time to cut ties with Turner and see if Jonathon Long is up for the task as a way of taking stock of the roster before the Deadline. If we're replacing Brujan it has to be a clear upgrade.
  9. Do the Nats just not K much or was our game plan entirely to induce soft contact?
  10. Tyson Miller DFA'd. Maybe I'm not looking into it enough but that perplexes me a little. He was great last year. Does he just look worse than his numbers indicate in Iowa?
  11. I love me some Gallen and if they could solve some of those issues down the stretch, that would be awesome. But he is having a down year and is a pending FA. And I can see Arizona not wanting to sell low but also want to get something for him if he walks and he has ace stuff. What would the cost even be?
  12. Kriske indeed DFA'd for Genesis. No Land of Confusion there.
  13. He's been a relatively decent lefty for a few years. Worth a shot.
  14. I like Eflin back from his Phillies days (I live in Philly with a rooting interest). But he hasn't looked great this year. My preferred SP pickup is Joe Ryan or maybe Taj Bradley. I think the Rays are always a team looking to deal. A Skenes trade is basically unfathomable at this point. Pirates would probably ask for PCA.
  15. I hate the Happ hate. He just got off the IL and has been one of the club's most reliable players and is glue in the clubhouse by all accounts (and well liked among the fanbase). Give him a break. Also I had a feeling during yesterday's outing we'd be seeing the last of Merryweather. Too bad, he just doesn't have it this year. But yeah Kriske was NOT on my bingo card at all. I wonder if it's temporary until Brasier is ready? I also didn't realize how bad Neely has been. That's a bummer, he looked like a real pen piece last year.
  16. Dang, he was looking good before these last couple starts. What's the injury? Had hoped he'd get up to South Bend.
  17. Yeah that's what I assume is the case. Ballesteros and Kelly and Amaya split DH and catcher duties the next week and then Ballesteros goes back down when Happ is ready, barring another injury. And to someone else's point, Ballesteros is not coming up to ride the bench.
  18. Tyson Miller to the 60 day IL to make room. I keep thinking of Ballesteros as a Pablo Sandoval in terms of body and bat profile. We'll see how he does but I hope there's some future here.
  19. I love it. My guess is he and Kelly take turns at DH (and Turner if he's not DFAd) with Seiya in LF.
  20. Horton gets the W. He's on pace to win every game he appears in. Strange but true.
  21. I'm a big card collector and literally pulled this from one pack 3 days ago. Talk about great timing. Hopefully it goes well!
  22. Maybe there's an obvious answer but what's stopping the Cubs from DFA'ing Lopez or Brujan and calling up Long? He's mashing in Iowa and gives a little more time for Shaw to get right.
