    Gleyber, Grisham, Woodruff and Shota all (so far) accepted the qualifying offers. That seems like more than usual?

    Honestly fine with it. Gives them the option to look into Cease or talk trade with other clubs. They still could pursue both avenues.

    I know it feels like the "cheap" option but adding Adell gives some runway/buffer for Caissie in RF should he stumble. Going into last season with Jon Berti as our backup OF went as well as everyone expected. I wonder if the Angels could be open to an Adell/Detmers package. Kill two birds with one stone.

    MLBTR dropped their top FA list and predictions: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/11/2025-26-top-50-mlb-free-agents-with-predictions.html They have the Cubs in on (there are 4 writers that each pick where they think the player will go): Framber, Ranger Suarez, Imai, Woodruff, Okamoto, Luke Weaver, Seranthony Dominguez, Fairbanks, Mahle. So basically they all think the Cubs add one starter and at least one reliever but don't address offense among the top guys on the market. They predict Tucker getting 11/400.

    Is Gallen broken? He has ace stuff but had a really rough year. Feel like I read it was a combination of bad luck and his curve not working as well as it had. He'd be cheaper than the other top options.

    The bench looked awful on paper entering the season and then, by some miracle, it looked awful in reality.

    So he takes it, we get him back for one year. He declines it, we get a pick. It's fine. Surprised we attached one to him but maybe there was some thought he would accept and they wanted him back for just one more year. We CANNOT though run it back from last season's rotation. Yeah Steele is back but you don't really know what you're getting out of him.

    Honestly think everyone here should be in. Valenzuela, Mattingly, Murphy were among the best at their positions for a decade. Delgado is often overlooked for playing on some bad teams and being a power hitter during the steroid era but he was elite.

    I honestly wasn't sure he'd survive the roster cuts last year after adding Rea. Same this year but now he's coming off an injury-shortened season and we would be selling low in a trade.

    This is fine. It's not exciting but Rea handled his role well this year. Gives us more options and certainty. And it's not so much that we can't part with him if it doesn't work out again.

    Past offseasons, Tucker trade aside, have not given me a lot of hope. I really think Ricketts hamstrings Hoyer/ they don't prioritize assets well.

    Exactly. It's giving me cost-cutting moves of past offseasons. They basically gave him back to Baltimore for the cost of the buy out.

    Hate it. Maybe he isn't worth the total value of the deal but he's still pretty solid and our rotation is patchwork at best already. Horton, Taillon, Boyd and then all question marks. Will Brown take a step forward? Will Wicks figure it out? Are Steele and Assad healthy?

    I wasn't sure they'd keep him at 9 mil so that's whatever but I hoped they'd decline and work out something like 2/14. Annoying, but it's early in the offseason.

    Yeah I was more or less just throwing an idea out there but the crux is I'm not sure we line up in a trade and we could probably get a better fit for the roster elsewhere. Bohm is a nice hitter but won't be worth what the Phillies want in return.
