  1. We are looking into old lefties. Dick Mountain has entered the chat. (as an aside, I miss The Dugout/the internet in 2007).
  2. I mean all jokes aside, he's always had the stuff. We dropped the ball on getting a good lefty this offseason and Little and Wicks pitched like ass the last week. I still believe in both but they didn't earn themselves another look just yet. See if Pomeranz has anything or go back to the drawing board.
  3. Oof. Bummer but he'll be back soon. Full series of moves is: Shaw and Pearson to Iowa Little, Palencia up from Iowa Brujan off the IL to the MLB roster Morgan to IL I was a fan of Morgan coming into the season. His numbers are skewed bc he got absolutely skewered in two outings and one of those is apparently due to injury. Hopefully he gets healthy and comes back well but they probably then keep him in Iowa for a bit. I'm guessing they start Workman at 3B for a couple games but Berti and Brujan get looks too and it's a way to figure out how everyone fits while Shaw gets it together in AAA.
  4. I hate what happened to Steele but I'm exciting about the possibility of getting MLB innings from Horton this season.
  5. I mean, I hate it didn't pan out but I'm happy for him over there and will be rooting for him. It honestly looked like he might just get released to go overseas or something so like we found out with Canario and Killian and Arias, there likely wasn't a ton of interest. Brujan himself was a former top prospect but I imagine his time with us will be ending shortly.
  6. Uhhhhhh is this guy legit? Has over 100k followers https://x.com/hgomez27/status/1911207956005220426 Héctor Gómez @hgomez27 SOURCE: Kyle Tucker and the Cubs' potential contract extension is in the range of 10-11 years and $450-500 million. According to the source, the possible extension will not contain any deferred money or opt-out opportunities with a full no-trade clause. First on it: @mikedeportes .
  7. And how could you forget Zach Davies smh
  8. I liked Killian and this is disappointing but he just hasn't looked good for awhile. So the KB trade worked out for no one at all in the end. Cosgrove was great in 2023 and terrible last year. Maybe Cubs see something. And he is a lefty that we lack on the 40 man.
  9. I'm not a moderator but we could probably lock this and start an "in-season transactions" thread and start it with that trade, which is.....questionable for the Brewers but ok with me!
  10. Eugenio Suarez just hit a grand slam. He has 5 hits this season. They are all homers.
  11. He's 0-for-18 to start the season with no BB and 8 Ks. Remains to be seen if eating tape will help.
  12. This should be fun to watch. This will be a big year for Gray. And I am really hoping to see Wiggins break out.
  13. Former Cubs draft pick/decent prospect Jay Jackson retired. He managed to last 17 years in baseball. Pretty impressive.
  14. Cool more money for PTR. Great job fellas. Mission accomplished.
  15. My takeaways from all this are: I can't believe Hearn has been in the system for 6 years. And People on here care about Hearn's ceiling more than his family, probably. I really hope Pat Cline and Tony Richie make it.
  16. So Eli Morgan sticks, as does Gage Workman. Brujan probably gets DFAd in 10 days barring other injuries. I wonder who gets the boot now for Keller. My guess would be Hollowell. And irrationally happy to see Keegan clear waivers. Maybe he'll get another shot later in the season, though that probably would mean things have really taken a turn for the worse.
  17. I don't like how they approached the offseason after the trade, but Tuckers is an elite player who commanded an elite return. It happens. If Matt Shaw rakes then it'll sting less. Also, Smith has barely played about A+. He has great potential but I don't think he's gonna be up for long.
  18. A fun "former top prospect coming off a bad season" for "former top prospect coming off a bad season" trade between Cleveland and Colorado. Tyler Freeman to Rockies for Nolan Jones (who was a Cleveland draft pick originally).
  19. I'm guessing it's because Morgan has options remaining but that's super annoying. He's been good and I thought looked good this spring and we gave up a decent asset for him. I guess there isn't a harm in seeing what you have with Keller or how Pearson and Merryweather look but I don't love it. And I feel like Workman had a good enough spring to make the team but I could also see them preferring Brujan's versatility in the beginning. I do hope they find a way to keep Workman and don't just return him.
  20. Lynn has been underrated for awhile. I didn't realize that he's been average to good most of his career aside from 2023. On a one-year deal, I'm fine with it. That said, I like it less after adding Rea. Is someone else hurt? Because now what? Imanaga, Steele, Taillon, Boyd, Lynn...... Rea? Pen: Pressly, Brasier, Hodge, Miller, Thielbar, Morgan......Pearson? Merryweather? Seems like both Keller might make the team and Keegan will be DFA'd but now there's a bigger roster crunch.
  21. Jankowski to the White Sox to be Tauchman's backup. That didn't last long.
  22. Ok calm down, I only just got used to not saying West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx.
  23. The Tenn pitching staff should be interesting but yeah, that lineup, woof.
  24. I was getting 2015 vibes with all those big names but for some reason (maybe memory, maybe feelings about those old squads) I feel like most of the current crop doesn't match up to that one. Also it's probably been said but it's striking to note the possible dropoff after trades/graduations. Eight of our top 10 are in AAA. We need the young infielders like Rojas and Cruz (x2) and Hernandez to have big years.
  25. Agree that I wouldn't be shocked to see Jankowski and Lopez at some point. All the MiLB deals to pitchers seem interesting. We also just brought back Yency Almonte and he is reportedly healthy. Thought he looked decent last year before the injury. I get the feeling one of Reese McGuire/Carlos Perez doesn't make it to opening day. We also have Aliendo and Ballesteros. We don't need 4+ catchers in Iowa. Either the worse of the two gets the boot or one does really well and parlays it into a better roster outlook somewhere else in a couple weeks. I was hoping for awhile for a deal with Detroit to keep Workman and not worry about losing him off 40 man but he's looked really good in spring. He might end up earning a bench spot.
