  1. I think he might be. He's a switch hitter and he's consistently hit lefties better than righties. He's usually in the .700s OPS against righties. In his at least partly full seasons (2007-2009), he's posted an OPS of .535, .731 and .813. It's promising to me that he's gotten better each year and he's only 26. If nothing else, a platoon of him and Fontenot should be productive, though the same could be said of Baker. If the Royals would take Castillo or, especially, Hill, I might just do it. But I wouldn't give up more. I wouldn't give up Castillo for him. Castillo's stock took a hit this year but he still has potential. And Hill will be the backup again. Maybe Robinson or Clevenger but I don't know. I wouldn't give up much for him, but that's just me.
  2. He's not bad, but I wouldn't give up much. Is he really that much better than Fontenot?
  3. I'm not following the irony. Maybe "irony" wasn't the right word to use, but it's very unusual for somebody to play for someone they were once traded for.Unusual, coincidental maybe...but I wouldn't say ironic.
  4. Not a huge Castillo fan but it wouldn't be a horrible trade. It does free up money and a Baker/Castillo platoon at second isn't bad offensively. Defensively though... Still, I'd rather do this than for Burrell or a bad middle reliever.
  5. It's a pet peeve of mine that people assume "looks awkward" means bad defender. Matt Murton always looked awkward, and he's easily above average in LF. Soriano looks terribly awkward out there, but he wasn't below average with the Cubs until just last season. Well in Damon's case, he is a bad defender.
  6. Maybe. I'd rather see what Snyder or Fuld could do. There are better ways to allocate the funds we have for this offseason.
  7. Damon has a noodle arm and misreads flyballs. He always looks awkward roaming the outfield. He's also bound to drop off offensively one of these days. I'd stay away.
  8. I guess if Ben Grieve and Micah Hoffpauir can "play" the position, then I supposed Fox can to. Ultimately, it wouldn't surprise me if Fox is dealt to an AL team. Yeah, I can see Fox being dealt to the AL. Who wants to bet it's the O's and the return is not Brian Roberts?
  9. Bad trade for the Brewers. Gomez is fast and great defensively, but us worse that Corey Patterson at the plate and worse than Juan Pierre on the basepaths. Hardy is a nice pickup for the Twins, who could always use the offense.
  10. I honestly don't see a problem with Cameron on a one year deal. My concern is I could see Hendry giving him three or two with a player option.
  11. This game is still too close for comfort for me. And Michigan is driving.
  12. I think this will definitely help, and I'm glad to see Joshua stay in the organization. But yeah, the lineup needs help. A hitting coach can only do so much.
  13. 144...basically missed all the starting pitchers from the 90s not named Trachsel or Tapani. Completely forgot the likes of Shane Andrews, Rondell White and Chris Stynes. Those were some haunting times.
  14. I think the Cubs should trade him down the line, but who out there who could take over for him at a decent level of production? I could see trading him next offseason if guys like Castro and Barney develop as planned, but trading him now? That'd be an issue, imo. i guess it depends whether you think that blanco could be not-horrible offensively. he'd certainly be well above average with the glove, but at the plate he'd probably be a complete black hole. Would it be too weird to sign Chone Figgins for shortstop and start Blanco there on days Figgins plays another position or gets a day off? I know Figgins hasn't played much at the position recently but it doesn't sound too far fetched.
  15. Burrell is probably the best we could get. If he returns to form he's a great middle-of-the-order hitter. If he doesn't, he's an expensive bench bat with poor defense. I just am not a fan of this whole situation. The best solution is probably to hold onto Bradley, which I wouldn't oppose. However, I can't see the team not moving him at this point.
  16. Beat me to it. This move has been coming for awhile.
