  1. I think this will definitely help, and I'm glad to see Joshua stay in the organization. But yeah, the lineup needs help. A hitting coach can only do so much.
  2. 144...basically missed all the starting pitchers from the 90s not named Trachsel or Tapani. Completely forgot the likes of Shane Andrews, Rondell White and Chris Stynes. Those were some haunting times.
  3. I think the Cubs should trade him down the line, but who out there who could take over for him at a decent level of production? I could see trading him next offseason if guys like Castro and Barney develop as planned, but trading him now? That'd be an issue, imo. i guess it depends whether you think that blanco could be not-horrible offensively. he'd certainly be well above average with the glove, but at the plate he'd probably be a complete black hole. Would it be too weird to sign Chone Figgins for shortstop and start Blanco there on days Figgins plays another position or gets a day off? I know Figgins hasn't played much at the position recently but it doesn't sound too far fetched.
  4. Burrell is probably the best we could get. If he returns to form he's a great middle-of-the-order hitter. If he doesn't, he's an expensive bench bat with poor defense. I just am not a fan of this whole situation. The best solution is probably to hold onto Bradley, which I wouldn't oppose. However, I can't see the team not moving him at this point.
  5. Beat me to it. This move has been coming for awhile.
  6. NL MVP: Pujols NL CY: Lincecum NL ROY: Happ NL Manager: Torre AL MVP: Mauer AL CY: Grienke AL ROY: Reimold AL Manager: Sciocia
  7. Go for the bigger package. The problem is the package would likely consist of at least Bradley, Vitters, 1 of Cashner/Jackson/Carpenter and probably another prospect, and wed probably turn either guy into Juan Pierre. Done. It's not those prospects would turn into superstars with the cubs. Because if the cubs can turn proven players into bad players they would turn those prospects into really bad players. I doubt the rays would want Vitters anyway. They would probably want Castro since they are already are set at the corner infield spots for the forseeable future. Sell them on Barney. Which is unlikely, but worth a shot.
  8. I wouldn't hate Cameron for the right deal.
  9. Two walks in two games since the call up. Anyone else surprised by that?
  10. I wouldn't mind him at $2 mil a year. Maybe $3 mil, but no more than that. and no more than two years. This team needs to stop overpaying for relievers.
  11. I know, it's Olney, but I figured I'd post it anyway. If Figgins wants $11-12 per year, we shouldn't even listen.
  12. I love the throwbacks. I want to see them more often.
  13. It depends what we get in return. We could get a decent package, but then I feel we'd need to re-sign Harden or add another starter. And the latter would defeat the purpose because it would require us trading prospects. And lest we forget Z's NTC.
  14. That would be cool, but just remember getting the card autographed ruins the value of the card. If you don't care about that and can get the auto, that would be a cool gift.
  15. Fantastic. We can see him stepping up to the plate with glasses next year. As long as he does better than a .740 OPS I don't care if he wears binoculars.
  16. Nice reference to The Dugout. I miss that site. Yeah, I think Hill has been passable enough this season to warrant being the backup next year too. No reason to waste money on another catcher.
  17. Or Scott Podsendick and Willie Bloomquist. Dudes can run.
  18. Penn State beats Akron. Close game.
