  1. Probably. Had his shoulder scoped in October, and is "likely to miss most of April" OK. That's what I thought.
  2. In 193 career at bats at Arlington, Vlad has done this: .394 .471 .705 1.175 He ain't gonna post those numbers this season, but he lights up like a torch when he plays there. Good deal for both sides.
  3. Refresh my memory...Ted Lilly is starting the year on the DL?
  4. This was posted here like a year ago, IIRC.
  5. It's for less than $2 mil so it's not horrible. Still, not a great move for a team that's rebuilding and has some nice young outfielders.
  6. Penn State LB corps next year won't be great. All three starters from this year are now gone.
  7. Anyone remember when there were talks of us trading Murton for Byrd a few years back and everyone was angry? Good times.
  8. I guess this is what Huntington meant when he said he'd bargain search for players. Fail.
  9. Seriously? I can't think of one that "screwed" PSU. That penalty was BS, dude was trying to kill the clock. Should have been a delay of game on PSU. The last illegal motion penalty against PSU, that was obviously an offsides against LSU? Not that it mattered in the end, but it forced us to settle on a FG.
  10. Yeah I'll admit that was a dumb penalty, but I'm not complaining, seeing as how the refs screwed us over on a few calls too. That was an exciting game, though. Go Penn State!
  11. They're usually the smart thing to do with a contract like this and a team that's under somewhat of a budget crunch. This is hardly unique to Hendry and is very common around MLB with most GM's. Plus. in his case, he's maximizing everything he can do and won't be here to see the ramifications of his work, in all likelihood. He's just putting the best(in his mind) on the roster, which in turn, will be someone else's mess to clean up, assuming the longterm deals that are backloaded inevitably don't work out. Still, like was just said, it's a common practice...... A common practice. And we'll have an average to below average 34-year-old outfielder making $6.5 million.
  12. Jon Lieber's 2001 was pretty good.
  13. Not bad, not great. I was hoping two years at the most. At least it's only $5 mil per.
  14. Saw this coming
  15. I'd be a bigger fan of Ellsbury if he wasn't an average-driven OBP guy. He's a good defender with great speed, but if he hits only .280, then his OBP is only gonna be .330, maybe. We could do better than a .330 OBP guy at the top of the order.
  16. I definitely wouldn't mind DeJesus, but I the Royals would probably ask for more than he's worth.
  17. I thought it would be fun to look this up on Bay's Baseball cube page: Jul 31, 2002 - Traded by Mets with Josh Reynolds and Bobby Jones to Padres for Jason Middlebrook and Steve Reed. Great trade
  18. Decent move for the Giants. He'll man third and allow Kung Fu Panda to play first base.
  19. Interesting. They have a good lineup now if everyone is healthy.
  20. I feel like he's just rehashing info we already have heard. It's nice to know JH is at least exploring the trade market.
  21. Yeah, he had one bad year on the club and two good ones. I guess the bad one left a sour taste. He's a decent reliever, nothing special but not horrible.
