  1. Well that's a pleasant surprise. Now let's see if that has helped his range at all.
  2. Well there goes Gardner off the market. Four year $52 million extension with the Yankees.
  3. I know the Cubs won't land either of them, but I would prefer either over Darwin Barney. I would rather start Bonifacio or Valbuena at second than Barney. I'd love to have Franklin or Miller or even Ackley.
  4. http://tracking.si.com/2014/02/17/matt-garza-passed-angels-vacation/
  5. Braves extend Kimbrel. And Reds are working toward an extension with Homer Bailey, reportedly six years and about $100 million. That seems like a lot for him.
  6. Kind of vague. Hope it's nothing too serious. Apparently it is some lingering neck issue and he didn't want to pitch through it, though he hasn't ruled out pitching next year/
  7. Great speed and good glove and also not useless with the bat. I'd much rather have him at second than Barney. I like the signing.
  8. Rays trade Jose Lobaton and two minor leaguers (supposedly in their Top 30) for Nate Karns. Am I missing something? Is a 25 year old in AA worth a decent backup catcher and two somewhat intriguing prospects?
  9. So he could miss the beginning of the season? May make the Mariners more interesting in a move of some sort.
  10. When did we waive these two guys? I would imagine one was to clear space for Hammel?
  11. I had the same thoughts on Hultzen. I'd love to have him but we played the injured prospect card already on Vizcaino and he still hasn't thrown a pitch for us. I'd love to buy low on Ackley, too. Getting Ackley and Paxton would be nice, but I'm not sure the Mariners would do it. I think I would rather just hold of until the deadline.
  12. Brian LaHair back to the States. Minor league deal to the Indians.
  13. As we know, the HOF can force a cap selection on a player, but ultimately the player gets to make their choice unless the HOF significantly disagrees with them. So either Maddux chose against going in with a Braves logo and the HOF upheld his decision, or Maddux chose a Braves logo and the HOF overruled him and gave him no logo. I'm guessing the former. Edit: Dammit, beaten because I decided to make a long winded reply. Opinions are overrated anyway. That's how I've remained so forgettable my entire tenure here!
  14. And now another Rays writer said Balfour IS the announcement. Dumb Twitter.
  15. A Rays beat writer tweeted that's not the "big" announcement.
  16. http://baseballhall.org/news/press-releases/cap-selections-announced-hall-fame-plaques-class-2014-inductees Maddux will not have a logo on his plaque.
  17. Holy efff. One of the best things I've read recently haha.
  18. Aubrey Huff and Jeff Suppan also retired. That'll be a hell of a HOF ballot that year.
  19. So apparently he said he will never vote again. Great. But then this: How is this guy a real person?
  20. Didn't see this anywhere. Not a bad claim. Bad last year but could turn it around. Wasn't he fairly highly rated in their system a year or two ago?
  21. Is Lim in there or is he gone?
