  1. far, far, far from being true. you don't hit .400 for an extended period of time only hitting lefties. you've been listening to dusty's self-serving garbage too much. it's just like how people say pujols is going to win a gold glove just because larussa said it a bunch.
  2. Please explain how what I put in bold can happen. :-k hill is just that good. fine, it was 4-2.
  3. first CG of the season for the i-cubs, as hill finishes what he started. 7 ip, 7 h, 2 r, 1 er, 1 bb, 7 k stud! i-cubs win 4-1 (didn't realize that they had tacked on two more when i posted the score before). .
  4. murton's homer gives the i-cubs a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the 7th (they only play 7 because it's a DH). hill starts the seventh by giving up consecutive singles. then lewis catches a line drive for the first out, but throws it away at 1st...runners move up. 6 1/3 ip, 7 h, 1 er, 1 bb, 7 k's. 19/25 first pitch strikes for the nsbb minor league POY. :D
  5. iowa is playing a dh tonight...just in case that news from the zephyrs website wasn't enough for you, i heard it on kxno this afternoon.
  6. rookies get to play when the team is competing for a playoff spot?
  7. No love for Sing or Patterson? iowa bias. :D
  8. great idea. right off the top of my head, i'd have to say it's between hill and cedeno. hill is 10-4 with 185 k's in 122 2/3 ip...era in the mid 3's. plus, when evaluating him against guys like pinto, you have to consider the fact that he jumped from AA to the big leagues this year while pinto is repeating AA. and i'm aware of the fact that hill was too old for AA when he started there, but now he's back on the proper age path. also, cedeno, in my opinion, has clearly had a better season than murton, who i'm sure a lot of people will vote for. same obp, higher avg, higher slg. plus he plays a position where his numbers are well above average, while murton plays a position where his numbers perhaps slightly above average.
  9. i wouldn't lose any sleep over losing rohlicek, lewis, koronka or leicester.
  10. those #'s don't count since the teams still don't have 'the book' out on him yet. oh, but when they do....!
  11. talking is not this man's strong point. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
  12. obviously mcclain is far from a prospect, but w/ murton back down, the cubs could do a lot worse (in fact, they have!) for a rh bat off the bench. if you are up against billy wagner in the 9th inning down by one, i'd take my chances w/ mcclain as opposed to blanco or a rh batting macias (though i'm sure macias would have made it into this hypothetical game much, much earlier than the 9th).
  13. psst...dusty...the cubs are out of the wild card race. i'm glad i checked this thread, or i may have gone my whole life w/o seeing neifi perez compared to jeff francoeur.
  14. don't you ever speak ill of our savior again.
  15. well, at least no CG or SO for colon. time for that dude to tear the [expletive] out of the post-game buffet.
  16. meanwhile i've scored 100+ and i'm getting my ass kicked. have the orioles ever played baseball before? two line drive dp's in as many innings and fat ass colon is crusing. i'm a friggin' QS magnet...somebody had 6 QS in 7 starts against me a couple weeks ago, and now tootie is 5-5. go nccubbies!
  17. We need baserunners. i just thought it was funny that today was the day that neifi and his .300 obp decided that he was going to work a count.
  18. farns v. corey...two of the most hated cubs of the past two years.
  19. neifi played that ab like he was the kid on the little league team that sucks and tries to get walks.
  20. and yet our $12 million starting pitcher with a shoulder that needs 'cleaning up' gets in two out of every three games with the team in 7th place in the wild card standings. wonderful.
  21. i'm very upset that farns was traded. i think a lot of fans buy into the 'he was bad for team chemistry' line and are glad that he's gone....as evidenced by the boos he got when he came in. oh good, the continuing effort to have wood's arm fall off will continue.
  22. Hell.. you're having a great day. This one is far from over. yeah...right after i bitched, my team hit six homers. moral of the story: complaining works. nc, believe me, i was pissed last night when lowry got taken out. stupid alou doesn't mind ruining him to the tune of 120+ pitches, but he draws the line at 124! that's a really big swing...seven points at least...
  23. i would enjoy a week where i'm not looking up at the highest score in the league by tuesday.
  24. i don't have a spot locked up yet. if i go 0-2 in my final two, and HBC and buddiga BOTH go 2-0, i'd be out with those two (plus tootie) in. one win for me or a buddiga/HBC loss, and i'm in. needless to say, i'm a big nccubbies/SoS fan this week. i see mota found himself just in time for my matchup w/ tootie.
  25. here's the problem. the cubs continue to think that 87 win seasons are successes. so when the cubs finish with 80-83 wins this year, they see it as just missing having a successful season. we're just another jose macias away from making the playoffs!
