    yeah, the real phil rogers showed up there at the end. i can't fathom any way you could determine that mabry > walker.

    i think it was more the 831 runs, sosa, tapani and wood that got them to the playoffs. and morandini may have been toward the end of his career, but he was pretty darn good that year. they were far from a royals type team.

    they can exactly describe the loss of DLee. There isn't a stat that measure the psyhological effects of the loss of DLee. and there's no proof that unicorns don't exist. but that doesn't mean they do. So you mean we are all robots and don't have emmotions? You don't beleive phycology exsists? not what i'm saying at all. you just can't say that something is true (ie lee's injury had a huge emotional effect on the team) and then support it by saying that no one can prove it's not true.

    he's been the cubs' best starter this month (aka when he finally had some security in the rotation). so yeah, i'd say he's done pretty well...not too shabby for a one pitch AAAA loogy.

    Did the I-Cubs provide any sort of list on their website of players that would be included in the giveaway? Either way, that's a tremendous pull considering the odds. not that i'm aware of...their website sucks now that milb has taken it over. i'm usually not lucky like that, so i'm pretty happy. i was just hoping for a decent i-cub...pie, hill, marshall, etc. i'll take the future HOFer though. :D

    gah, should have started sheets this week...man, has he been hot/cold since he came back from injury. thankfully, i knew myers would kill the cubs, so i left him out there. i was getting soooo close to catching tim for total points...soooo close.

    As I was just saying on the game thread, what can Dusty say about Bynum's play that won't get criticized tomorrow? If he dismisses it as a regular play of the game, he will get criticized for favortism. If he says it was a mistake, then people will say he is biased against youngsters just like they said today. Basically, there is nothing he can say about a move like this that will be accepted. for some reason, bynum is one of baker's pets, and thus not considered one of those rookies who have ruined his season and possibly cost him his job. you know, like angel guzman (6 ip, 1 r, 8 k's tonight).

    :shock: WOW! yeah, people were getting pretty much nothing but current i-cubs. i heard one person say they got prior. i may have gotten the best of the 3,000.

    the i-cubs were having autographed ball night at the ballpark tonight, so i headed down (didn't stay for the game). i used two tickets to get two baseballs (wrapped in a brown bag). i declared one to be mine and opened it....AROD!!! sure beats the cliff bartosh i got last year. brought the other one back for my friend...jae kuk ryu. i picked the right bag. :D

    If the first post talks about a Baker quote, and you don't want to partake in the discussion, the wise thing to do would be to clicking out of the thread. It takes more time to read the thing, and send a reply, than to simply wander somewhere else. That is my plan from now on...I felt that that someone needed to bring up the redundancy of this thread, however. That's it from me. if you don't want to discuss the cubs, baker, or each day's game, i don't know why you read the threads. what else is there to talk about? we surely aren't debating how the cubs should line up their playoff rotation at this point. baker's veteran fetish is blatantly obvious, and it hurts the team in the present and, if he's still the manager, in the future. i think it's a valid discussion topic.

    then so should the dozen veterans who have made similar stupid mistakes throughout the season. wasn't theriot just "hustling at the wrong time" like aramis did in milwaukee?

    i was at the 2003 game. larussa pitched to alou (4-4 at the time) in the 8th with simon on deck. jobo k'ed edmonds in the 9th. it was awesome.
