  1. this should be like an 8-1 game or something.
  2. those other guys weren't exactly innocent victims.
  3. 3-0. i would say kip wells is coming back to earth, but he's sucked all year.
  4. Why? I don't understand why. because trachsel is not good. that's why.
  5. There's a difference between your two pitches being fastball-change or fastball-curve, and your two pitches being fastball-slider. Exactly. Marmol has the potential to be one of the best closers in the game, why take away from that. Would the Red Sox be a better team with Papelbon being a starter? yeah, i think they would.
  6. so marshall is officially being skipped. what a crock.
  7. the red sox have one mvp in the last 20 years. the yankees have one. the cubs have two. quit your whining.
  8. if i lose this week it'll be because of the [expletive] defense the cubs played behind hill today. and because my dumb ass left wang on the bench. and because paul [expletive] byrd threw a shutout. also, using head to head as tiebreaker is stupid. if i finish with the same record as buddiga, but outscore him by 300 points on the season, i'll be pissed when he makes the playoffs instead of me.
  9. This post means nothing because ERA and W/L are horrible stats in judging a pitcher. what stats do you have up your sleeve that makes trachsel a good option?
  10. floyd's slugging a robust .363 post-ASB. ankiel's outhomering him on the season. do the cubs even have double digit homeruns from lefties this year?
  11. WHIP over 1.50 and absolutely ridiculously terrible K/BB, what else needs to be checked? He's awful. He was awful last year with an ERA of nearly 5, he was over 5 this year until he started getting lucky in August. He still can't strike anybody out, he's walking more than he strikes out and giving up too many baserunners. He's awful. Again, he's a number 3 or 4 starter if you compare him to his peers. That's not awful. This is pretty simple, I don't understand what's so hard to understand about it. honest question...if you really think trachsel is a 3-4, what do you consider rich hill?
  12. Umm, okay. To answer the question, no, he won't get any votes. But we wouldn't be in first place without him. there are like 12 guys on the team without whom the cubs wouldn't be in first place.
  13. Well, there's an article with a pretty comprehensive list of potential call-ups on the front page of the site. There are a couple names that have been added to the db that will clear waivers on 9/2. The teams with the worst records have first shot at them. What's not fair? Why should managers that pay attention be penalized? Liz got called up last week and debuted on Monday. How long should the be in the majors before they're considered "normal" free agents? easy does her...i'm not saying it's not fair. you and i have been the most waiver-watchingest guys in the league over the past few years, so you know i'm not wanting to penalize those managers. i'm just wondering what we're doing about all the guys to be added on 9/2. are we waiting for a minor league waiver thing on them or should we put our claims in right now for them?
  14. there has to be a better way to do this. the same thing's going to happen with a bunch of other september call-ups, i imagine.
  15. well, i'm just glad you're not too busy to drop in occasionally and share your valuable thoughts on murton. thank goodness for that. you heard it, everybody...the man is very busy...so soak up everything you can because we truly don't know how much more he can give us.
  16. i frigging suck at picking what pitchers to start. i don't start sheets off the DL, and he pitches well. i don't start wang against the bosox, and he almost throws a no-no. meanwhile, i've started lilly, guthrie, and shawn hill, who have combined for like 3 points.
  17. wow, soriano looks like he's never played baseball before.
  18. this is just hilarious. soriano has never demanded to bat lead off and never demanded to be moved back to lf. where you people get this stuff?
  19. it seems pretty clear that murton's days with the cubs are numbered.
  20. the lineup the cardinals are trotting out there today is flat out pathetic. pujols should go 0-0 with four walks every game the rest of the season if that's the best they can do.
  21. VORP 38.1 - Carlos Zambrano (31.4 + 6.7) 34.6 - Rich Hill (35.3 - 0.7) 33.9 - Ted Lilly (35.6 - 1.7) wow, that's hard to believe.
  22. so zambrano's hitting coupled with hill's inability to bunt makes up the difference between their pitching numbers? i have a hard time buying that.
  23. 1.5 right? Ah, forgot about the Brewers. Mentally I've already designated the Cards as the competition. Don't, the Brewers are much better. i still think the cardinals will finish 5+ games out. Everyone on the Brewers team is having an all-world year, that's completely not true, but it wouldn't be the craziest thing you've said in this thread.
