  1. i'd personally enjoy seeing the 90 million dollar man get a clutch win. but, at the same time, i still kinda blame the fifth outfielder for this loss.
  2. yep, this one's all on murton.
  3. 1.5 right? Ah, forgot about the Brewers. Mentally I've already designated the Cards as the competition. Don't, the Brewers are much better. i still think the cardinals will finish 5+ games out.
  4. Oh God. Are you seriously citing a player's facial expressions now?? Seriously?? Oh God. Yes I am. Seriously. Only a fool would think that something's not wrong with him based on that, and his poor offensive production this year. But don't let me muddy up your pollyannish view of this team, that's everything's just swell. I am impressed with your ability to judge people emotions and feelings based on their expressions. You must be one of the best poker players in mankind, I bet you can just see through people's poker faces. Let me ask you something. Can you tell if Zambrano cares whether he wins or loses? he sure as hell isn't pitching like he cares whether he wins or loses.
  5. you're going to judge him on one night? every pitcher has a bad night. does webb suck because the padres scored 5 off of him last night? he must not be the diamondback's best pitcher by your logic. Zambrano hasn't been the best pitcher on the Cubs this season. Hill and Lilly have been better. who do you start game 1 in the playoffs (assuming they're all equally rested)? don't know about you...but i start big Z. yeah, everyone keeps saying that, but zambrano's really been laying some eggs in some pretty big games lately.
  6. you're going to judge him on one night? every pitcher has a bad night. does webb suck because the padres scored 5 off of him last night? he must not be the diamondback's best pitcher by your logic. that's not my logic at all. i said the whole "watch the game" thing because of the game thread last night in which i was told that if i didn't think zambrano was the cubs' best pitcher, i don't watch the games. i'm judging him based on the whole season. after tonight, zambrano will be the cubs' fourth best pitcher, and marquis will be pushing him.
  7. if you think he's the cubs' best pitcher, you clearly didn't watch tonight's game.
  8. off i go to rants to start a thread about theriot's bunting...
  9. I wear my sunglasses at night....I wonder how many people got that. or get it, but don't think it's funny. send jones, please. to third or are you behind? Abuck never watches games, what do you expect? true. i got out my pocket protector and calculator, multiplied 4x squared times pi, divided by vorp/(eqa + rc) and decided jones should steal.
  10. I wear my sunglasses at night....I wonder how many people got that. or get it, but don't think it's funny. send jones, please. to third or are you behind? ahead. he took off right as i hit submit.

  12. His OPS in the second half is .851. Please find me CF'ers we could have had with a better second half OPS. His OPS over his last 30 games is .924. It's clear that his abhorrent start is affecting that OPS greatly, so comments like yours are clearly disingenuous because they look at his numbers in a vacuum. It's clear he's been a different Jock since the break. Posting those numbers wouldn't help you though.l fantastic stuff. a guy posting his last-30-days ops is giving me crap about being selective about what numbers i'm citing. oh man, then i just read that i'm posting numbers in a vacuum...literally the sentence after you post the all-encompassing last-30-days ops. and, of course, i'm taking into consideration that completely unfair and shortsighted stat of his season ops. honestly, that's great. I don't think anyone is advocating that Jacque be elected to the HOF here; in fact most of us are advocating that we capitalize on his production and then peddle him during the offseason. What exectly is wrong with that? nothing. but that's not what the person i was quoting was saying.
  13. and thank goodness major league baseball has banned left-handed pitchers.

  15. didn't watch the game (never do), but it seems like hill may have pitched another good game...a corey hart bloop away from having a great game. good to see him sneak a win out of it...it'd be nice to see him get 12 wins or so. last three starts: 2-0, 21 ip, 16 h, 6 er, 3 bb, 26 k's.
  16. yeah, he's proving the world wrong with that .718 OPS.
  17. or was it the best game thread ever?
  18. the cardinals will finish 5+ games out. jacque jones hates chicago, cubs fans, and the chicago media. interviews with him are hilarious.
  19. Better than Rich Hill's 0-2, 2 outs, runner on third HBP which led to Milwaukee's 3rd run. why? Because there was one more strike on the batter? i'd say the score and the inning make this one a little more stressful.

  21. my directv picks the worst times to go down.
  22. the best part is, they're just as entertaining when the cubs are losing.
  23. Is he another one like Hawk? his presence is ruining the fun of this inning. i feel bad for all three guys in the booth. that linebrink trade is looking pretty kick-a for the brewers.
