eh, i don't think i buy into that theory at all. i'm just glad he's been so productive.

i don't see how that's possible. hopefully they just do better because they will have more experience (if, in fact, they were pressing in '07).

right. and those guys aren't as valuable as players who are "sluggers." i hear this "well, that's just not the type of hitter he is" arguments about theriot quite a bit. so does that mean you just don't consider his .367 SLG or whatever? hey, jason marquis just isn't the type of pitcher that strikes guys out, limits hits, or prevents runs. when you accept that he's just not the type of pitcher, you'll like him a lot better.

He's pointed out some stupid Theriot stuff. cubinny, you aren't making any sense. Soriano didn't think he hit a HR and end up with a double. He thought he hit a HR and ended up with a double. It's not a little thing. Soriano has multiple times watched doubles and ended up having to slide into what should have been a stand-up double. This was different, he didn't even get to 2nd. It is a big deal, and it is absolutely ridiculous that people are downplaying and acting like Bob is in the wrong for complaining. how is it a big deal? He walked to first base when he should have been standing on 2nd. I'm not one to get overly critical on hustle, but this was bad. i mean, yeah, it's bad, but i wouldn't classify it as a big deal in an 8-2 game.

Most of the current Braves have very little history against Marquis. Andruw Jones killed him, but he's moved on. Chipper has hit 3 home runs against him in only 6 at-bats. Overall though, there's no real idea if this Braves squad is a bad matchup for him. every matchup is a bad matchup with marquis That's not really true. Let's give Marquis credit for the good starts he's had. He's not a 65 ERA+ pitcher this year. He's a 95 ERA+ pitcher, which isn't really all that horrible for a #5. The Braves are no juggernaut this year, it's nothing like facing them when they were a playoff team. The other thing is, he's been holding pretty steady through the year. Putting up some bad starts, then some mediocre ones, with a smattering of good starts. We're in mid August now, which is usually well past the time when Jason collapses. Hasn't happened yet. Let's hope it continues. I agree with what you're saying. I take issue with the bolded part though. It's much better than "not all that horrible." For a number five starter, it's actually pretty great. it's not so great for a guy making $7 mil.

has anyone ever had two SP's throw no-hitters on the same day...and have both of those guys ON THE BENCH???!!!! i guess it makes me feel better to know i was practically trying to give both danks and sanchez away and none of you knuckleheads were smart enough to take them from me.

i don't think dempster is funny at all. but he's made up for it by being really good at pitching this year.

thanks to the H2H tiebreaker, if i beat HBC next week, i clinch a playoff spot. of course, if he beats me, i'm in trouble.

the east is completely up in the air right now. don't like my chances against raw given his pitchers face atl (x2), wash, sea, sd, and la. also raw is going to get a lot more ab's than me given that teixeira has as many days off (5 game week for the angels...wtf) as raw's entire offense. and his all-mets offense gets 7 games against pittsburgh and washington. pulling pretty hard for tootielicious this week.

i agree that 7 doesn't sound like a lot, but when you think about what st. louis would have to do record-wise from here on out, it sounds a lot better.

if the cubs go .500 the rest of the way, the cardinals would have to play .681 ball to finish ahead of the cubs. TOAST.

yeah, don't lump cubs borowski with indians borowski. he was actually good when he was with the cubs. -
use him as much as you can when he's healthy. if he gets abused and subsequently gets hurt...eh, he was probably going to get hurt again anyway.
