  1. yankees better be careful about trading cano...after trading tabata, they'll only have melky cabrera left as an over-rated name to dangle out there in trade talks.
  2. i see the rationale behind the number changing as the player being further removed from playing that position. in the same way soriano isn't eligible at 2b because it's been so long since he played there, 2009 ian stewart is further removed from being 2b-eligible, so the games played requirement for him to be eligible there is higher. i don't think i said what i wanted to say very well there... i agree with you there.
  3. yeah, except dempster could not be used in any way at all unless he was made a SP. you could still start stewart at whatever position he's eligible at. i mean, i guess i just see that as a tough break for you. just like how fielder got like 58 ab's his first year, thus making him non-exempt for this next season. i'd sure rather the ab limit go up to 100 or whatever, but that doesn't mean it should. it seems like you just don't like the rules all of the sudden because it hurts your team.
  4. the position player eligibility is not analogous to the SP/RP situation. if you didn't make a guy like dempster SP eligible until he made 10 starts, you'd be unable to use him in any capacity for nearly 1/3 of the season. you couldn't start him at RP because he would be starting, and you couldn't start him at SP until he made 10 starts. obviously that doesn't make sense. you can still play alexei and ian stewart til your heart's content at the positions they are eligible at. i don't really see any reason to change the rules as they are now.
  5. geez, quite the sense of entitlement from a bunch of fans who have been cheering for a loser their whole lives. i want it clinched at this ballpark, against this team, on this day, at this time, while i'm wearing this pair of jeans.
  6. oh, [expletive] you, fielder.
  7. i'm starting to get annoyed with this fukudome business.
  8. i've never played in one before this year, and it's safe to say i don't get them. this team is in the championship in a 12-team league. c shoppach 1b fielder 2b derosa ss alexei ramirez 3b beltre of hamilton of mcclouth of milledge of dye u jay bruce i mean, he's got good pitchers (z, oswalt, harden), but that's a really terrible lineup, isn't it? his first four draft picks were fielder, victor martinez, bedard and carlos guillen. i mean, [expletive]. i'm not bitter or anything, as i was WAY in last place before a late season surge and i was just kind of befuddled by the whole thing. and i had a lineup including adrian gonzalez, utley, aramis, berkman, quentin, and hawpe. my pitching wasn't great, but i had dempster, peavy, liriano, lilly and lowe. i mean, in our league wouldn't my team murder that team? anyway, i clearly prefer point-based leagues.
  9. chicago media just laying an egg right now...nothing on comcast or non-chicago wgn.
  10. ??? i've missed 90% of a potential no-hitter due these stupid tv rules. Oh I gotcha. You are aware of http://www.justin.tv/barcalysports right? it's choppy, late and has the houston announcers.
  11. ??? i've missed 90% of a potential no-hitter due these stupid tv rules.
  12. i'd like to punch bud selig right in his ugly, stupid face. dick.
  13. BLESS YOU!! BLESS YOU!!!! It's 678 for me, but he is still blessed. :D looks like i would get it (doesn't say "channel not purchased"), but it looks like it's blacked out. well done, mlb.
  14. bochy should be fired immediately. 140 pitch CG for lincecum?? that's awful. wow, HORRIBLE call at second base spares papelbon a bunch of points. geez, that was bad.
  15. thom brennaman is a really bad football announcer.
  16. i'm still mad at lee for not telling lou and whoever was pitching at the time that carlos lee really kills cubs pitching.
  17. the playoffs don't start tomorrow. if they play this bad over the last 18 games, then i'll be concerned.
  18. me too. way better than the "hey, guys, let's lay down and take a beating tonight" speech he had been giving.
  19. i've actually heard lots of idiots make this argument. i think it stems from jealousy over players making millions of dollars and not being able to do something said idiots (incorrectly) believe they can do.
  20. no surprise that people complaining about the bunt are ripping soto for not getting it down instead of lou for calling it. dumb people make that argument a lot, i've noticed. and the benching of fukudome is getting kind of stupid. he needs to be playing every day unless he's hurt or asking for time off. i don't think being a defensive replacement every game is going to get his bat ready for the postseason. and i don't want fontenot or cedeno starting playoff games at 2b.
  21. lou's either trying to cover his ass by doing the most by-the-book stuff possible or he got kicked in the head by a horse. he's been as bad as any player during this stretch.
  22. with hill not around any longer, there has to be someone to psychoanalyze via watching baseball games on tv.
  23. We're going to have to play much better to even come in with a 7-12 finish. and they probably won't even need a 7-12 finish.
  24. yes...if the cubs finish 3-16, they may not make the playoffs. though if the cubs do finish 3-16, the phils would still have to go 12-7 (assuming they lose tonight) to pass the cubs. wow, are the cubs ever making the playoffs.
