  1. It's exteremly tough to find that kind of data at rookie league games - MiLB.com lists it in their box scores for AAA and there are announcers and many fans at games at other levels who could keep track of that but that doesn't happen in the AZL. That info would have to come from the coaching staff, probably into a local Chicago rag's story on Hill. Or maybe AZPhil at the Cub Reporter could provide it, had he taken note of it. AZ Phil does a pretty good job reporting on such things. How do you know that? i'm assuming he can count.
  2. and what would that be?
  3. yes, i'm not so insecure and worried what strangers think of me to prevent me from seeing something i want to see.
  4. on BBTN, EY just said that he would pick david wright out of the final vote thing because he has a good batting average in interleague play.
  5. Gosh, how do I put this nicely without promoting an attack or coming across as an arrogant know it all? Please don't take this the wrong way. That is what she is supposed to say to you and doesn't mean he is working on any deal nor that he will get the message. She does her job well. rhonda's a real pro.
  6. i was looking at the schedule earlier, and i think you and HBC face off in the next couple of weeks. that will be a big one.
  7. Why? Despite the claim, there's no personal attack is abuck's message (unless it was subsequently edited and I missed something good). I figured abuck's suggestion that the other guy go to Desipio would get it done except that's not what happened.
  8. it's not official until jayson stark deems it so.
  9. desipio...there's some good company for you.
  10. watch it, guy. jaded, college sophomore CT will call you out on that SO FAST. this ain't your grand daddy's blue font, 400 post-a-day spaz version of CT, folks.
  11. and i never said that. and it's not a meaningful analogy for the reasons i pointed out above. i've argued with lots of people about rich hill over the years, and, i have to say, you are one of the worst. and that's saying something.
  12. How do you know this? Pitching coaches work with their pitchers on mechanics on a weekly basis. How do you know what Duncan was or wasn't telling Ankiel. because i've never heard of it being due to his mechanics. and like, banedon said, he fell apart during the bright lights of the playoffs which would lead most people to believe that it was a mental issue and not a "hey, it's game 2 of the playoffs, wanna try something different?" issue.
  13. Your continued implication that none of this is Rich Hill's fault (and that big bad Lou Piniella and Larry Rothschild ruined poor Rich) is maddening. where did i say that none of this was hill's fault? clearly the problem snowballed and became mental when his mechanics got out of whack, and i'm sure a lot of that was hill's "fault." and i'm sorry i'm causing you so much mental distress. but if this whole ordeal doesn't make you question rothschild's competence, i don't know what to tell you. Was Rick Ankiel's meltdown Dave Duncan's fault? Is he incompetent too? no one was able to subsequently fix ankiel. Rich Hill is fixed? Wow. Talk about overreacting to a second-hand report from a rookie league game. he's certainly making vast improvments, which is more than he ever did under rothschild. Well, you've been hammering Larry Rothschild for screwing up Hill for months, long before Rich Hill had his single good performance against 18 year old rookie leaguers. Obviously your opinion doesn't depend on whether Hill *can* be fixed; you had blamed Rothschild before Hill made any progress at all. With that framework, is it Dave Duncan's fault that Rick Ankiel imploded? FOR THE 20TH TIME: NOT THE SAME FREAKING THING.
  14. if ankiel's collapse would have come right after duncan was like "hey, you should change up your delivery a little bit," then, yes, i think duncan would share some of the blame. if ankiel got sent down to rookie ball and some other dude was like "hey, change this about your motion," and ankiel starting throwing strikes, then, yes, i'd say duncan screwed up.
  15. ankiel has zero to do with hill. ankiel's collapse was apparently 99% mental, while hill's looks to be, i don't know, about 50% mental. ankiel was throwing the ball over the back stop. hill is not. hill's downfall came after his mechanics were changed. ankiel's was not.
  16. why is that nice to see? That he's not buying into this deal making the Brewers the favorites. yeah, but who cares what he thinks? it's not like it helps the cubs or hurts the brewers. You're not wrong, but couldn't you have let this innocuous little comment go? no It must be very important to you. obviously. seriously though, a lot of posters' energy this summer seems to be focused on what jayson stark is saying, what brewers message boards are saying, what ozzie guillen is saying, etc. i just don't see the point.

  19. If Rothschild gets the blame for Hill, does he get the credit for Dempster? how are those two even related? and anyway, dempster has had periods of success before. but i don't care if you want to give rothschild some credit for him. go nuts. doesn't change how he apparently whiffed on hill.

  21. it seems like hamels gets two starts every week... five in a row for the hand sanitizers!
  22. i 100% believe that she worked for the cubs. any issues i have with her posts have nothing to do with me doubting her story.
