  1. fact of the matter is, chuck won our game solely because he used eight starts. any system that allows a team to win solely due to the fact that they failed to follow the rules is completely ridiculous.
  2. lol, i guess congrats to whoever the next person is that faces chuck when he uses an extra start. good luck keeping track of that mess. pretty dumb rule. doesn't do a whole hell of a lot to dissaude you from not paying attention.
  3. What are you talking about? I have no idea either. I gave up my 2 best prospects (Wallace/Stanton), a potential future ace (Zimmermann) and the 3rd best SS in this trade. It makes me a contender this year, but may hurt in the future depending on how Stanton and Wallace pan out. the 3rd best ss currently battling polio maybe.
  4. doesn't reyes have the plague or something? black death?
  5. so we're going to have to keep track of how many times a particular manager has failed to follow the rules? yeah, that will be a complete nightmare to keep track of. i don't know why these benefits are given to the manager who can't count to 7. sorry, but there should be a penalty for using too many starts and forcing juan or whoever to go back and sort out all this crap. losing a -5.5 start and being rewarded with a WIN in a week you would have otherwise LOST is not so much a penalty as it is a really nice treat. bottom line is, if chuck had used seven starts this week, he would have lost. plain and simple. instead, he is rewarded with a win just because of what times the games started. that's stupid.
  6. damn, if i had known greinke was available for a guy who might die and prospects i would have picked daryl kile up off waivers to match that offer.
  7. that seems to be a pretty illogical solution which will reward the person who failed to follow the rules as often as it will punish them. i think the solution is to take away that person's best start from the week, but, at the very least, they should be forced to take the worst of the sunday starts. there should be some punishment for not following the rules. if you take away carpenter's start, chuck has been rewarded for using too many starts...especially since he said before either guy's start that he would have used carpenter over burnett had he been paying attention. he ends up better off than that he would have been had he followed the rules. that seems to be a pretty absurd result.
  8. i may have still won even with HBC getting burnett's start had heyward not hit a meaningless 9th inning hr.
  9. same with me and the carpenter/burnett issue.
  10. well, that's not much of a penalty. what if the 8th start throws up a -25 or something? that sure would work out nice for the person that used an extra start. i'd have been better off keeping my mouth shut in that scenario.
  11. as mentioned in the chat, chuck has gone over his starts this week. i don't know what the penalty for that is. i know we've discussed taking away the best start of the week and i think that's the most logical solution.
  12. i could make any number of boycott/mcdonalds/apartment complex grocery bills/nacho cheese jokes here, but instead i'm just going to wonder how it is that someone who expects to actually earn a living as a writer, thinks "black outed" is proper english. i mean, that is just staggering.
  13. oh man, that is classic roger. CLASSIC.
  14. signature material.
  15. you obviously should be allowed to put him in somehow. think about it...if you couldn't put him in there, he would be literally unusable for the first 1/3 of the season since you can't stick him at RP because he is starting. that would make no sense. he should be made SP eligible too, so you don't have to bench one of your relievers to use him.
  16. i actually like my team. infield is stacked (mccann, teix, a hill, rollins, wright) and my OF came together nicely with a pre-draft trade (span) and in the draft (granderson). pitching could be shaky though...if sheets is serviceable and bailey can continue to improve, i think i'll be ok.
  17. there should be a thread to talk about the actual games and a thread for people to talk about omg i've got 9 of the sweet 16 still alive in my bracket that is for no money and that no one cares about.
  18. by the way...i haven't been paying much attention before the uni game...has the "the big east is such a rugged gauntlet that it really prepares for the tourney" line been replaced with "the big east is such a rugged gauntlet that it wears you out for the tourney; ergo the big east is the best conference in america" yet?
  19. It was one of the dumbest and most ill-advised shots I could imagine. It was worse than McConnell's banked-in three earlier today. what was so dumb about it? they couldn't run the clock down all the way anyway, so they were going to have to shoot it at some point. a wide open 3 by that guy was as good as they were likely going to get. their last few possessions where they ran the shot clock down resulted in nothing. i agree with snood...that was a bad matchup for KU. i knew uni would at least keep it close.
  20. i like the nova guy slamming the ball down on the court. yeah, you showed robert morris who was boss!
  21. solid showing by the best conference in the history of the universe.
  22. brackins going pro, gilstrap's request for another season denied (would have likely left anyway), and now two other players (one starter) transferring. go back to the valley, mcdermott.
  23. Oh ye gods. I know the Castro boner grows daily, but the guy barely outhit Theriot last year while in A-ball and Theriot was in the majors. I hates me some Riot as much as any good stathead Cubs fan, but come on. Potential is the key word there. This year's team doesn't really excite me. Castro on the team would add some interest. I'm not really thinking out statistical strategies here, I'm just throwing out what I'd like to see. well, whatever the cubs can do to keep you from being bored...
  24. i bet he leaves anyway. He might, but his ball handling isn't close to NBA ready yet. He'd probably end up in Europe or the D-League. obviously. but he might be fine with that. and yeah, the dude can barely dribble.
  25. i bet he leaves anyway.
