  1. damn it, iowa state in the process of blowing their chance to face usc in shreveport.
  2. i think usc matches up pretty well with san diego state in the poinsettia bowl.
  3. they may get a chance to do it again in the emerald bowl, but i'll have to check their conference affiliations. usc v. minnesota would be a compelling matchup.
  4. will iowa state play in a better bowl than usc?
  5. what time do the limos leave for the sun bowl, usc fans?
  6. [expletive] the skype thing was [expletive] lame too.
  7. also 86-ing that deal would be the fact that halladay is awesome and bradley is a nutjob.
  8. so effing lame does barnes really want to be a part of a twilight themed poster next year??? no. go to iowa state.
  9. i've foolishly allowed myself to get my hopes up. buddy is trying to convince me to go to the press conference... i mean, he wouldn't hold a big pc in ames if he wasn't going to pick iowa state, right? right??
  10. wow, i can't believe trading an expensive, oft-injured malcontent for one of the best pitchers in baseball isn't going to happen.
  11. Hopefully it will inspire your fans to rush out and actually make your stadium 1/2 full for your last home game. Do I smell 25,000? Eh, what does it matter. We're somehow never going to beat Northwestern again. Low blow, but I saw it coming. Good to know I was spot-on about Hawkeye fans using the "If we had X player..." excuse, just as they used it for Greene last season. Injury excuses don't really count when the team that beats you causes the injury. i thought you had to be smart to get into northwestern.
  12. This facility will serve the Cubs for 30 years. Today's intense demand for ST tickets may well erode in coming seasons, especially as the Cubs' national fandom declines absent the reach of 160 games on WGN and the presence of expansion teams in places like Phoenix and Denver, places in which large numbers of western fans latched onto the team in the 1980s. The Cubs have to prepare for a future in which they may need to work to build spring crowds. Naples is 500 miles closer to Wrigley Field, the Grapefruit schedule is more interesting and Florida is a longstanding vacation destination. no one cares who they play in spring training. they just don't. also the distance between the facilities is much greater in florida whereas in arizona everybody (outside of the tucson teams) are within 45 minutes of each other. it is MUCH easier for a fan to travel to arizona to watch the cubs for a week than to travel to florida.
  13. gonna be a long limo ride to the sun bowl.
  14. lol at all the usc fans making hotel reservations in pasadena for the national championship game.
  15. worst backup qb in college football, holy [expletive].
  16. throw a flag, cripes.
  17. what the [expletive] is vanderberg doing?? geez.
  18. shitty way to end a perfect season.
  19. I'm not sure the competition really matters all that much in the spring. The Cubs sell-out in Arizona already. People go to games to see a spring training game, they don't care who the other team is. The people that should be worried are the other teams/towns in Arizona that lose a huge road draw when Cbus fans who can't get into Hohokam go to the other parks. I am aware of the Cubs' gate performance in Arizona. I believe it has the potential to be even better. it doesn't matter. they're not going to sell more tickets because they play the phillies in ST instead of the brewers. they're just not. no one cares who they play in spring training. plus, ticket sales are probably like the 50th most important factor they're considering. selling tickets is the least of their worries.
  20. I kinda think LSU wins. Possibly without scoring an offensive TD. A refreshed Bama defense at home.....I don't think so. Early line has Bama as 10 point favorites, but I think they will come down to about 3.5 by Saturday. Bama by 10 and it won't even be that close. unless someone on alabama dies, i really doubt the line drops 6.5 points.
  21. after throttling south carolina last year iowa's white guys are probably looking for more of a challenge.
  22. People don't hate Iowa because they are undefeated. It's because they play in a weak conference, are over-rated and play a sissy non-conference schedule . They should be ranked about #14. Florida, Alabama, Texas and USC would crush them and about 9 other good teams would beat them easily. It's amazing that for playing such a sissy non-conference schedule they still have the highest SOS of any of the undefeated teams. It wasn't brutal but at Iowa State and Arizona aren't garbage. Yes they play in a weak conference. So does everyone in the discussion. What conference is really good this year? The ACC? Big East? Big 12? The SEC is half of what it's hyped up to be. The Pac-10 is very solid this year. that's my main complaint. i've yet to see any conference establish itself as head and shoulders above the rest.
  23. Oregon would kill Iowa. well, duh, everyone would. they're an embarrassment to college football.
  24. that'd be kinda a load of BS since boise state beat oregon state and will presumably be undefeated.
  25. call me crazy, but i think usc's pending three td loss to oregon is more impressive than iowa's 18 point win against indiana. i'd go ahead and say usc should jump iowa in the rankings.
