  1. i'm assuming he's claiming to have told the state college police, not the penn state campus police. penn state campus is located in university park, not state college, and any crimes that occur on the campus fall under the jurisdiction of university park police. the campus police is not going to have exclusive jurisdiction over crimes committed on campus. for example, i don't think you go to campus jail if you murder 20 people on campus.
  2. That can't possibly protect his assets can it? I mean, if that's the case wouldn't everyone facing a losing civil suit just 'gift' all their assets to other people? they're not going to get joe pa's house if they get a civil judgment against him.
  3. and michigan state can have chris allen back.
  4. why were they playing drake on the road? The four D1 schools in the state play a round robin every year. I guess because Iowa and ISU are generous, cause there is no other explanation. yeah, it's kinda stupid, but iowa state shouldn't lose to [expletive] drake regardless of where they play. awful.
  5. welp, i was hoping college bball would keep me mildly entertained until spring training. guess not...iowa state can't handle drake and the bright lights of the knapp center.
  6. Because rapists never continue their act despite the danger of being caught? I'm not sure why you'd highly doubt the ability of a child rapist to act irrationally, especially while in the act of raping. The fact is, every indication is that all McQueary knew was that the act was interrupted, not ended. He didn't make sure it ended unless he waited around to see the kid dress and leave, physically seperated the two and/or immediately called authorities. Seeing them pause, while in the act, then leaving does not give McQueary any knowledge of what happened next. If he made sure it was over before leaving, why wasn't that in his grand jury testimony? you're right about not assuming a crazy child rapist would act rationally (especially after hearing that interview). i guess i just always assumed it was somehow stopped either by sandusky not wanting a swarm of cops to come in and see him in the actual act of anally raping a child or by mcqueary being like "hey, you should stop raping that kid." that's why i don't get why this news about how this particular rape was stopped is surprising to people. i always assumed it was.
  7. Would you expect him to carry on bringing children to campus in plain view of the guy who saw him rape a child? no, but that's different. i would assume after being busted raping a kid by someone who then leaves the scene, he would probably think, "i better stop raping this kid in case that guy that just ran off goes and gets help/the cops/angry mob," as opposed to "welp, back to this raping i was in the middle of."
  8. of course he did. i can't believe people actually thought he really just saw it and walked away, allowing it to continue. i assumed he either stopped it or sandusky saw him and stopped. The report is that McQueary sent an email to his former teammates saying he made sure it was over before he turn and ran away. He didn't tell the grand jury that, and the most likely scenario is that when they locked eyes, everybody froze. But if all the old man did was pull out before McQueary ran, he has no way of knowing if it stopped. He didn't break up anything, he merely interrupted. i highly doubt that sandusky would just carry on with his raping after someone saw him raping and then left. come on.

  10. is there an announcing gig open in minnesota? they really appreciate guys who hustle and bunt and are terrible at baseball.
  11. i sure hope brenly and the rest of the meatheads enjoy watching aramis' replacement really hustle out groundballs next season while he's hitting .230. it's amazing to me how some people can hold jobs in baseball for decades and decades.
  12. don't ruin erik's fun. he is this close to cracking the case.
  13. john wooden
  14. failure to prepare is preparing to fail.
  15. mark wahlberg prolly murdered that DA.
  16. I hate to defend these guys if it turns out they had any prior knowledge, but I think of a board of directors for a charity loaded with celebrities like that as pretty damn hands off. (pardon the phrase) I can't imagine Cal Ripken was doing much more than making an appearance or 2 per year and giving the occassional donation. I don't know why you'd think that given what we've found out in the past few days. Nothing would surprise me at this point. i'm going to go ahead and say it would surprise me if cal [expletive] ripken was involved in pimping out kids to rich donors. I'll admit, that one could knock me over. I'd be very surprised if any of those major names on the board were invovled beyond what someone upthread said: writing a few checks a year and appearing at some fundraisers. I very much doubt that any of them were involved in day-to-day stuff. But with as crazy as this story keeps getting, I guess you have to brace for news like that. no you don't.

  18. if the DA was on to the pimping thing, you think he would be the only one in the office that knew about it? and that killing him would put an end to the investigation? It depends on exactly what the DA knew. I don't know how a DA'a office works, but could it be possible that at the time he either had damning evidence to bring about charges, or was dangerously close to obtaining them? Perhaps killing him before he was able to reveal/uncover the info was enough to keep them safe as nobody else has been able to get the proof? I'm just completely spitballing here and am not at all saying that's what happened. you watch too much tv.
  19. didn't he decide not to prosecute sandusky in 1998? and he disappeared in 2005. I believe there were allegations in 2004 as well. And....after two eyewitness accounts of graphic abuse of multiple children, how do you not prosecute? i just find it very hard to believe penn state arranged for the murder of a DA in order to protect a retired coach/molester. i think it's much more likely that it's a coincidence. Penn State, no. But if Sandusky had contact with rich donors through Second Mile one of them could have fronted the money to have the guy offed to protect everyone's ass in this. if the DA was on to the pimping thing, you think he would be the only one in the office that knew about it? and that killing him would put an end to the investigation?

  22. man, how in the world has sandusky not committed suicide yet?
  23. um, that's not how it worked out. you forgot the small matter of five months of roy halladay.
  24. seriously though, i'm kinda in shock (though not really) that nobody else thinks there is a problem with trades like this. tim got halladay for free and won the championship with him. he essentially borrowed halladay for five months and nobody thinks this is kinda ridiculous?
  25. lol, tim paid a steep price to have halladay for a season.
