  1. actually, quite the opposite. i want fewer rules. for example... current rule: 7 starts per week and lineups are due on monday. cannot make mid-week roster changes/pick up FA pitchers or promote minor leaguers to your active roster to get your 7 starts unless a) there is a rainout or b) there is an injury or c) you make a trade or d) a minor leaguer is promoted to the bigs or e) you forget to use one of your guys (maybe or maybe not applicable if you have another start on your bench that you could have, in theory, used) or f) your guy gets pushed back. rule i would prefer: 7 starts per week. do you really not understand my point about how difficult it is to use this "spirit of the rules" standard and how we just trust each other to "do the right thing?" i don't want more rules/more complicated rules...i want simpler rules that we have to follow. 99% of the arguments come from interpreting what is within the spirit or the rules or whatever...all this could be eliminated by simplifying the rules and then following those rules.
  2. i was all over it...i'm a stickler!
  3. Then I'm guessing your opponent would have had a problem with it why? why is 1 over ok but not 3? obviously the easiest and most practical solution is to simply say you can't go over. i mean, is it not? not really. "the roster limit is X" pretty well takes care of this particular situation. i didn't know it was a vote, for one. for two, "allow illegal rosters for the playoffs" is pretty broad to just be thrown out there as a ruling.
  4. come on, dude...don't do that thing where you act like i'm being an [expletive] because i think the rules should be enforced.
  5. well, it's a little ridiculous to assume silence from the other players over a 3 day span when nearly all of them are eliminated and probably not checking this board means they are on board with this, but whatever. my point is...and i really fail to see how anyone can not see this... is when you are literally making up the rules as you go along. what if i wanted to go 3 over the roster limit? 4? i mean, please tell me you understand this why this is not a good system.
  6. yet here i sit with a perfectly legal roster. because the alternative is kinda having rules/kinda not and that's not really possible to enforce. can you have an illegal roster just for one day or the whole week? can you go one over the limit or two? you can't have rules and then decide to half follow them.
  7. you can't DL morneau anyway because your DL is full. that's my point. it has nothing to do with whether morneau is put on the mlb DL.
  8. don't really care though...doesn't effect me. i don't want anything to do with a bunch of price/verlander/lee starts if i make it to the finals anyway. but we have some work to do on the rules after this season.
  9. yes, i realize you suggested allowing an illegal roster a couple days before you used an illegal roster. i don't really know what your point is. i agree. however, that is not at all your problem in this instance. your problem is not having enough DL spots (same problem i have had, as have others). except i've dropped the players i couldn't fit on my DL and you just said, hey illegal rosters are allowed.
  10. Of course not. i guess he's agreeing to this, so whatever, but what the f? i've been dropping players left and right to make sure my roster is legal. i'd have like to kept cruz and left my roster illegal for a few days...or street...or dempster...or sizemore. are we just scrapping roster rules at this point?
  11. here's an issue i have with the "can't keep someone you pick up once the playoffs start" rule. i have a ton of injuries. i may need to drop one of my injured guys to have a full lineup should i make it to the next round. now if i drop josh johnson or somebody so i can maintain a roster, i should be able to pick him back up (assuming nobody else grabs him first) and keep him if i want. if i wasn't in the playoffs, i wouldn't care about keeping a full roster, so i would just have a bunch of injured guys in my active lineup and it wouldn't matter. but i shouldn't be at a disadvantage as far as keepers go just because i'm in the playoffs. i think you should be allowed to keep anyone who was on your roster at the end of our regular season. i.e. if i drop jimmy rollins then pick him back up in a week or whatever, i should be allowed to keep him. this doesn't give playoff teams any advantage over teams out of the playoffs as far as keepers go. thoughts?
  12. you always feel good going into the playoffs with half your offense consisting of jemile weeks, mark trumbo, james loney and emilio bonifacio. i'll go to battle with those guys any day of the week. injured list now includes hanson, josh johnson, rollins, cruz. yikes.
  13. so should rodelo be allowed to keep capuano? he picked him up in the middle of last week (the last week of the regular season) when he had no chance at the playoffs. that's no different than him picking him up today. the easiest way to do it is to just let anybody pick up/keep anybody they want.
  14. yes
  15. Actually you had 3 more points than him for the season looking at the standing right now and was 3rd in the league in points. you're right. man, i'd be feeling real good about my chances if i was heading into the playoffs with the league's highest scoring offense and a 1-4 of lincecum, josh johnson, hanson and kennedy. instead, hey let's see what randy wells can do.
  16. That's my recollection too. that's not my recollection at all. i mean, i think it's kind of a dick move to pick up FA that are actually playing right now if you're out of it, but i don't see why it shouldn't be allowed. and if someone drops someone you'd want to keep, i don't know why you shouldn't be able to. I know we had the discussion last year, I just have no idea what the ruling on it was. I think we had said there was to be no picking up players if you were out of it but I could easily be wrong. this was the result of what has come to be known as the great eric young jr debate. much drama was involved. i think anybody should be able to pick up anybody and keep anybody. the problem with saying you can't pick people up when you're "out of it" is lots of teams have been "out of it" for weeks. rodelo just picked up capuano last week for some reason even though he's out of it. i kinda would have liked to pick him up, but i don't think i have any right to him over rodelo. if i dropped tommy hanson today because i was sick of his injury problems, nobody could pick him up and keep him? that seems dumb.
  17. sucks for RWD...most points in the league and out of the playoffs. can't believe i pulled that off.
  19. you're up 28!
  20. yeah, someone let me know if someone dies from the hurricane. until then, i'm going to bitch about all the games i'm missing.
  21. i might end up having the best offensive week ever for a losing team. friggin' RWD's pitchers are on fire. farnsworth hurt i guess? [expletive].
  22. i'm not whining, weirdo. it's a discussion about the rules.
  23. I remember you having a different opinion on this when I finished with far more points, but you beat me in the finals. if you had the most points, you had the best team. doesn't mean you automatically win the title, of course.
  24. lol "attack." you've "attacked" me 100x more than i've ever "attacked" you on this board. anyway, bye. seems like a weird thing to quit a fantasy league over, but oh well.
  25. It makes it dumber using division record as a tiebreaker. I don't really see how it would effect H2H. You either play a team once or twice during the season. How does an unbalanced schedule effect H2H? Like I just posted though I would like to see a balanced schedule. instead of h2h being based on two weeks (which is already a very small sample), it could be based on one week (ie if the 2 teams tied only played each other once).
