  1. They don't want to go into the tax, though. Came across this on Real GM: "The Bulls are approximately $600,000 below the tax threshold and the team believes it can sign a player to a prorated deal and avoid going down as a tax team." That would be awesome if true. I'd really like to see Jimmer here. I think he would play well next to Hinrich, as Kirk can guard most 2's and allow Jimmer to guard the opposition's PG. I'd also be excited to see Ben Gordon back as a Bull. Hopefully they can snag one of them and stay under the tax line.
  2. I don't know. I don't think there's a right way to do it. Generally, I think if the player can handle it, let him play. Deng was most successful and healthy under Thibs. Rose's knee injuries weren't directly caused by playing too many minutes. I do wish Thibs would play Joakim a little less since he has an extensive history of PF. And I wish he would be quicker to take some of his starters out late in the 4th quarter when the game is in hand. But I don't feel strongly about either of those assertions. And in some seasons (such as this year, if we were better) it makes sense to go balls out during the regular season for the top seed. That way you can avoid having to play Miami and Indiana until the ECF. Then you can rest after beating the crap out of the Raptors or whoever in the 2nd round while Indiana and Miami beat each other up.

  4. Gross exaggeration. That team would obviously be terrible. But not bad for a complete 2nd unit. Still not better than Watson/Brewer/Korver/Taj/Omer. Even if that unit couldn't score.
  5. This game sucks. At least Selanne gets to go out on top. Might as well let him get the hat trick.
  6. So.....74?
  7. I could get used to that. Honest question, how many games would the Bulls win with a healthy Derrick Rose and LeBron James? With Thibs coaching, would they break the 98 Bulls record?
  8. whyyyyyyyyyyy Because the only way to make this a championship team is to acquire a 2nd superstar. And if you fail to do that in free agency, then you need Boozers expiring contract to be able to make a trade during the season for one.
  9. Agree. It would be tremendous if you could bank on Taj scoring 15-20 points/game. I've never been one to complain about Boozer's defense, but the things you can do on the defensive side with Taj and Noah together for 35+ minutes a game are exciting. Barring a Melo trade, bringing over Mirotic and using the remaining cap space/exceptions, on a 2/3 wouldn't be a bad offseason. That said, I don't think Boozer gets amnestied. The Bulls will probably hang on to him to use as a trade chip. He'll be a true expiring and have positive value in a year.
  10. It definitely does not mean trading Noah. There's essentially 2 ways to go. You either trade Boozer plus assets (picks and/or Mirotic's rights) in a sign and trade. Or amnestying Boozer and then trading off practically everyone except Noah, Rose, and maybe Butler/Snell for the cap space to sign Melo to a max deal. We can definitely make it worthwhile for the Knicks to take back Boozers expiring contact, so I see that as the most likely route. Rose Snell/Butler Melo Gibson Noah Not bad.
  11. Why did the White Sox even bother trying?
  12. How could he lock in a 20k payday? FSU was like -400. [expletive], forgot they were that big of favorites and the money line was that high. He still could have locked in a good chunk regardless. read elsewhere that the final moneyline was -360, so even a $10k hedge would have cost $36,000. Yeah, I think I would have hedged some. Maybe $25k on FSU. Would have at least walked away with $7k. Tough call either way.
  13. How could he lock in a 20k payday? FSU was like -400.
  14. I'd rather keep Deng for about 1/3 of the salary it would take to sign Melo 1/3?
  15. Yeah, it's wonderful. I took some on an international flight and was out before they were serving dinner. Worked like a charm. Just so you guys know its the same active ingredient as Benadryl, just marketed as a sleep aid and priced 10x higher.
  16. I really just hope Cutler is back.
  17. The only way to increase parity would be to eliminate super teams. I've heard the idea that your 2nd highest paid player can only make a certain percentage of your highest paid player, thus eliminating teams with 2 max contract players. There's no way the players association will go for it, but it's a good idea for the most part
  18. The Dolphins, Ravens, Chargers, and Steelers all have a shot at the 6th seed in the AFC, but none of them control their own destiny. Kind of a weird quirk.
  19. That was miserable. If I have to look at one more Cutler vs McCown QB comparison I'm going to throw my TV out the window.
  20. Why can't Tanaka just agree to pay the Eagles $15M ? Seems a lot less complicated.
  21. I doubt he comes back, but I could see it only because he decided to sit out the whole year last year and still got hurt. Who really knows though.
  22. Do the Bulls miss the playoffs if they trade Deng by the end of December?
  23. The Cavs are a fun team to watch. Really hope LeBron doesn't go back there.
  24. I agree that Thibs could rest his players some more. But I really think this point is overblown. Deng has been the healthiest of his career under Thibs. He's played in 91.7% of his teams games under Thibs. 81.9% the rest of his career. Are you arguing that he'd be more efficient if playing less minutes per game? He had the 2nd highest TS% of his career under Thibs in 10-11 when he averaged 39.1 MPG (2nd highest of his career). I believe his inefficient play over the last 2 years is due to playing the majority of those games without Rose creating open shots for him and his injured wrist, which he refused to surgically correct. Derrick had the lowest MPG of his career the year he tore his ACL. Can't blame that one on Thibs. The one player that I care most about MPG with is Joakim. However, outside of last year, Thibs has done a good job of limiting Jo's minutes in the past. Hopefully Jo's increased minutes last year was due more to Rose being out and Jo being needed to facilitate the offense rather than losing Asik and not having a dependable backup.
  25. Last night was the first. Not just first game, first minutes. They'll figure things out. They never all got on the court together in 2011-12? I know Jimmy didn't really play much, if any, at the 2 spot. Did they all ever play in the same game (just not at the same time)? Or was at least one of them injured for every game that season? I don't know why that seems so long ago to me. I think everyone often forgets how close the ECF series was in 2011, despite it only going 5 games. If the Bulls are healthy come playoff time, they will have a decent shot of winning a championship.
